Well, the first point, perhaps, but he is absolutely closer than Brolo. Brolo is infinity rooms away from the end, Chris will be infinity minus one rooms away from the end, for the same reason that when an infinite number of rooms are full of an infinite number of occupants, you can still always add an occupant or double the number of occupants without changing the number of rooms.
Both Brolo and Chris are aleph-null rooms from the end of the hotel. Removing an element of a countably infinite set does not change the size of the set.

Hawt bloody creepy vampire action in the 14th century? Yessss.
playing mmos that are functionally "failed" is kinda fascinating because it's frozen in place at its point of failure, so you can see all the problems but also what they did right. big issue with warhammer online is that the separate pvp/character level structure is NOT working. most places recommend that you try to keep your pvp level above your character level, otherwise trying to pvp becomes excruciating
but also they're so willing to give you interesting abilities, even early. it's so funny to be dropping aoe DoTs on the enemy at like level 10. it's a delight to be a tank and buff your whole team with the ability to steal stats from the enemy. and the engine is also inherently built with the idea that you have an Offensive Target and a Defensive Target, rather than having to do it via macros, which enables so many interesting and more elegant aggressive heal/support styles that other mmos struggle to make work
This seems to be the article being mentioned.
Every class in that game was unique and interesting to play. I ran around as a special forces guild in rvr where we would snipe important objectives under the nose of the zerg and run away, slowly manipulating the enemy zerg so our zerg would come out on top. It was a team of about 15 people and I remember oncce holding off the enemy zerg that caught us in a small keep with our tanks in a breach long enough to capture that keep and allow our own zerg to progress. Then we pulled out, jumped the wall, and hoofed it. We got away with it against a group of 40+. You can't push through enemy characters in that game so we could body block them at the doorway. I was one of the tanks, built for defense. I was actively using my abilities to negate incoming enemy attacks and yeet people away from the door with knockbacks. It was glorious.
I fell out with that group sadly but later I met a korean tank in rvr on a dps character and we together held a point from about 15 people as they dripped in heading back towards their own zerg. He invited me to his groups for pvp and we had an absolute blast. I couldn't understand a word they said but they would give commands in simple two syllable acronyms that I learnt, and so I could communicate with them to make amazing plays.
By the end of my time with that game I'd joined another guild and was making the calls on vc for pvp fights, when to push, when to fall back, basically being a commander.
After that sadly life got in the way and I had to unsubscribe.
Nobody can tell me that game wasn't the goat, all my experiences are an armor of fire that melt any counters before they reach me. It will always be precious to me.
Which is weird because like I said, pretty much carbon copies.
I stand entirely by "unique".
ironbreakers and bright wizards were just objectively better at pvp than blorks and sorcs
i think the private server has made some balance changes but i'm not exactly interacting with it in a way where that matters

This game, The Haunting of Joni Evers, released yesterday. I've not played it yet but I've had my eye on it for a while. Seems like a traditional walking simulator like Gone Home or Edith Finch, but spookier and with new family trauma
In my group of friends I'm the only one who really touches competitive games (with the exception of one additional fighting game enthusiast), but Warhammer Online was the one time we all did PVP and loved it. The fact that tanks could physically create chokepoints was *mwah* brilliant. Hampered by large scale defense turning into stacks of 50 DoTs in one spot melting anyone that walked near it, but ah well.
Only game that came close for me was GW2 at release, but that's long gone. And unlike WHO, the classes in GW2 feel like their abilities are balanced for PVP, which means they, to me, almost all feel like I'm hitting mobs with nerf bats in PVE.
Everything I heard about that private servers changes are that its one or more main people who have Their Idea of how those balance works and don't much care what other people think, basically just making it a nexus mods balance mod, so I stayed away.
I don't think I've ever liked player created balance changes in any game I have ever played. I'll just stick with the old memories.
Sent my sim to the university because I don't think I ever did that. Kinda boring. During downtime I send them to sit in on an extra cooking course. They go from zero cooking skill to maxed in about 30 seconds. The fuck? This university seems like a game cheat. Realized all the skills were leveling up almost instantly. That kinds ruins some of the fun for me. Made a new character and it was still doing it. My sim told a single joke to the first person to visit his apartment and he gained maxed humor skill.
I go download that one cheat mod that adds in all these controls and such and take a look at the hidden settings. For some reason my game's skill gain was set to 1000%.
So anyway. I think I fulfilled my need to play the sims. Game feels very empty. They really need to either make a sims 5 or release a dlc that radically alters stuff to make the world feel more alive. There are like three people walking around on the street outside my sim's apartment, in what is supposed to be a busy city.
love the style though!
Like yeah man, it looks like a bunch of filigreed metal in the shape of all the guns I'm used to seeing
I was tanking as my Chosen, Thelonious Monkslayer, and everyone else got got by it at about 40% health but I continued to kite and mitigate and whittle it down while everyone cheered me on... and it killed me with like 1.5% health left.
And then a week or two later, part of their patch was massively nerfing that boss
Despite technically losing, I had come within a hair's breadth of beating a boss so difficult they had to nerf it, and that felt like a victory to me.
