There's a huge dead spot from 4/25/2001 - 2/4/2004 . Unfortunately, the start of the news post falls in this black hole. However, on the upside, this period is covered in the already-published books.
It's still interesting the news and comments from that time period to see some of the story behind the comic, until VH-1 decides to do a story on penny arcade.
Don't know if it has already been mentioned, but http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/5/4/ has two parts of a comic on the same page, but both are the same picture. If you click next it jumps to the third part.
It's gotten pretty bad More than nine years of comics combined with no archive to search through them with means to find any specific comic you have to look at every single one, in order, starting at either the first or the most recent until you see the one you were looking for. And then a lot of them are broken or missing, to boot.
Though if I remember correctly, the archive was pretty shitty for searching even when it was working. What I usually ended up having to do was scroll down the list of comic titles looking for the right one. Which is only a little better than what we have to do now.
Yeah, it's almost resolved. It was a combination of factors that brought it down this time, but without going to deep into it, it IS being worked on. Sorry about that.
It has been mentioned on the front page a couple of times, but Pennypacker is a great search engine for PA comics. There is a search function at the bottom of the page here: Pennypacker, so you don't even have to download anything.
2000/9/1 doesn't work right; the default image looks like it should be 20000901l.jpg, but that comic refers readers to the high quality one which is at 20000901h.gif instead of jpg. I guess the answer is to just display both of them on that page.
On 2001/4/25 the images switch to the 20010425h.gif format. Most of the comics from now until some undetermined point (that being 2003 or later) have this format, and thus aren't referred to correctly by the comic index (even after adding the h). These can be fixed by either converting the images themselves to the DATEh.jpg format, or changing the default format for that range to DATEh.gif.
I don't know what number it is, but does anyone remember a comic titled "I'm Up With Gabriel"?
It had Gabe doing an early morning talk show and he showed up in a bath robe.
I just remember the line "Shhhhhh, okay let's play a game. It's called Sim-get-me-some-fucking-coffee, fucker. Fuck it's early!"
I searched high and low (ultimately traversing start to finish) the archives a year or two ago for this with no luck.
Any brave cyborgs help me out?

The the comic from 10/17/2005 is missing. Or more accurately from the store, in the Buy a Print section, under Tycho's top five comics, you can get to the page for the comic but no image is there, as near as I can tell.

Thats awesome, I was looking for a specific old comic I used to have on my dorm room wall a couple years back, I've just recently gotten back to checking PA.
First off, let me say that you guys rock. Using this thread I was able to find and patch a very obscure bug in the software. That fix went in tonight at midnight CST and should have fixed 80-90% of the issues. I'm going to create a new thread for missing comic reports.

Also, 6/20/2007 is gone.

Khoo, is it really being worked on?

The image for 2001/1/22 is at 20010123h.jpg
The image for the second comic on 2001/01/26 is at 20010128h.gif
The image for 2001/1/29 is at 20010130h.jpg

There are some exceptions that work with the DATEh.jpg format (but not .gif). These are: 2001/5/4, 2001/5/14-15 and 2001/5/16-17, 2001/6/15, 2001/12/10, 2002/6/17, and 2002/9/23 (though it doesn't have a page in the index, see below).
2001/11/14 has the DATEh.gif format, but it has separate high and low quality images so those should both be displayed. 2002/1/4 refers to 20020104h.gif and 2002 0106h.gif
The index skips over 2002/7/19 despite there being a comic for it. Same for 2002/8/21, 2002/8/23,
2002/9/11, and 2002/9/23 (jpg instead of gif)
I think 2002/12/11 might have the wrong title, as it's the same as the next comic and it seems more appropriate for that one.
20021227h.gif and 20021228h.gif are the same comic, but the latter should be the comic for the top three awards.
That should cover most of the issues pre-2003. I'll work on the rest later.

That should be it, morticae.
Hmm, I'd forgotten about the naming change they did. Looks like the back and forward buttons did too.
Thanks a lot for digging that one up guy.

I checked and it was mentioned a while ago, but it's not there now

First post, long-time reader however.
