I had to stop, cos our dining table was needed to put camping equipment on, I have no idea how it will all fir in my car! Anyway, the pale grey-blue dots will look like cars soon!

Unsurprisingly, I did not manage to fit the canvas into my car (a Toyota Corolla hatchback) together with 2 tents, 4 sleepingbags, a 2 ring stove, a kettle, 3 pans, 4 chairs, a table, 3 boxes of food, some solar powered fairy lights, a fire pit and clothes for 3 adults for 10 days. Ah well, the painting will recommence on Wednesday afternoon, after I finish work.
Glasto was amazing - I blagged backstage for Cockney Rebel and Keane, into the private party on Thursday night - Billy Bragg, and saw the stranglers (awesome) and Stevie Wonder to name but a few. It was hot and sunny all day, every day, so the only time I needed the thermals was for our overnight shift - midnight to 8:00 am, then it was too hot to sleep afterwards. Back to work in the morning, then paint on Wednesday.

Back again, with a bit more done - work sucks the life out of me, I'm a bit tired:CFS not great - I keep forgetting i can't do as much as I think I can, get overtired, then just have to sit. Mind you, I've almost caught up with my Dr Who viewing!
Bottom right corner partly done, just some fine detailing left to do on it:
If anyone can turn this into a thumbnail, and explain how to do it, I'd really appreciate it!
Instead of just pasting the tweetphoto link, right click the picture that has been uploaded, choose "Copy Image Location" (or similar feature in your browser).
In the post, put the following text:

replacing the *** by pasting in the image location (control-v)
OR, you can click the button to insert an image to your post (looks like a gray mountain with a yellow sky behind it) and paste the image location into the pop-up box.
No, it means I'm clearly not capable of taking a picture on my phone, twitting it and then copying it (still on my phone) into this thread! I'm about to take Lewie to Indie Tracks, so I'll have a go again when I come back home, and this time I'll do it on my PC, not my iphone

I'm not sure which way is up, can someone tell me, please? I'm also not totally happy with the line of the buldings I've just done, so I'll work on them this afternoon.

lol "which way is up?" I can imagine the perspective issues you're having (I was an architecture major for a few years) but it looks great - also, which line of buildings? everything looks pretty solid really
Aaaaaaah! An architect major!!! Just don't look too closely at some of the angles. And you still need to tell me which way is up, cos I have no idea.
It's nearly done, I'm stopping now, will upload another photo in a bit, I need to do some exciting laminating for work.

If up means the "right way to hang it" then the feet are the bottom edge of the painting (south) and the street perpendicular to the her feet is going up (north)

I, uh...wow. Your work defies description. Forgive me if I seem obtuse, for I've merely skimmed this thread (never even been in AC before), but...exactly what do I have to do to put my name in for a painting? Are we still even doing that? I mean...I'm willing to compromise here. What am I looking at in terms of providing incentive? Are we talking, like...all my money? My firstborn? How about my car? I don't really need that.
What on earth would I want with your first born, I've already got one of those, and a second born (LewieP)!
Thanks for your praise though!
What you need to do is wait til I unfreeze the list, which should be in the next couple of months, then ask! You have to stick by my rules - no exploitative images, no violence, then, when you receive your painting, send me the cost of the postage and canvas, and then buy something from Oxfam Unwrapped. It's that easy!

Well, I'm just sayin'...if my firstborn would've been acceptable...
Nah, thanks for the reply though. I'll definitely spend the next couple of months watching this thread like a hawk and using that time to decide on an image. It's going to be a tough decision, I tell ya what.
Thanks again! You are a saint among sinners (or whatever inferior beings the rest of us are)! :^:

and, in a scary, surprising development, EA are now following me on twitter!
1ddqd, can you PM me your address, please, and I'll post it to you tomorrow. I'll then let you know what the postage cost, so you can send me some money. Thank you!

Hey Zilla, not heard from you in ages! Are you ok? Glad you like the picture, its wending its way slowly across the Atlantic now, should arrive with 1ddqd in a week or so.
Here's the first installment of Fables, the pencil outline:
I'm thinking of trying something different with this, inking in the outlines and then colour washing the canvas. I'll have a go on paper first, to see how it works out, and if Look Out Its Sabs! is happy with it, I'll do the canvas like that.

So, here's my experiment. Don't worry, Look Out Its Sabs, this is on paper, and isn't your picture, I'm just trying something out to see what it looks like.
Inked in outline. Yes, the girl has been crossed with a giraffe, her neck is huge!
What am I trying to do here? I usually paint with slightly diluted acrylics, here I've been trying out more dilute, like watercolour washes, but I don't think its been that successful. I've tried to be quick, and not get bogged down in detail, which is what normally happens. I think I'll try it for a bit longer - clearly I need to practise lots, and then I'll start painting in the pencil outline that I've already drawn on the canvas.

I basically don't care how long I have to wait for my painting. Watching these works of art in progress makes the wait totally worthwhile.
I've only just joined the thread. I'm guessing the waiting list is...long?
