I really hope IG are in. However, don't make them fucking Cadians. I'm sick of the god damn cadians. I want to see armoured fist chimera's alongside Russes, Stormtroopers coming out of valkyries, Ratlings covering some prisoners as they suicide-attack against some CSM.

Ohh, and Rough riders. That would pretty much make DoW2 for me.

I hope they make the IG steel legion or something. WWI German army looks pretty cool in a 40k setting.

It would be pretty neat if they made Chaos just full of daemons instead of chaos space marines. Maybe IG based more on fast, cheap troops and basically just more like the table top.

I had less infantry on the table last game than my CSM friend did. To be fair, thats what happens when you mainly take armour and stormtroopers.

Really though, IG do need cheaper, weaker troops. It doesn't have to be a huge difference from the other armies; 2-3 regular guardsman to a regular MEq would about do it. Perhaps have conscripts for those who really want massive infantry armies, or Stormtroopers for near regular numbers(say, 1.5 stormtrooper to one marine).

Really though, I just want to see fleets of chmera's. I don't really care what they carry, as long as they are fleets.

Somehow, even though its been brought up, I doubt docterines will be in DoW2 the way they are in CoH. Maybe something like unto it, but not in the same way.

    Why not something like?

Space Marine: Codex (Ultramarines) Assault (Black Templar)
Chaos: Mind (Slannesh, Tzennetch) Body (Nurgle, Khorne)

    And so on.

I dunno, just, it works in CoH, but DoW is a much different beast, maybe stuff you can slightly alter before the battle like in the tabletop, but not during.

A great part of DoW was the army painter. I'm not gonna give that up for some half-assed doctrine system that's not even necessary.

Doctrines is one of my favorite parts of COH :(.

If they want to launch with four armies though, I imagine it'd be too hard to do. Personally, I'd rather have doctrines with less armies if the alternative is another eight army clusterfuck.

The only reason they needed doctorines was because with only two armies, they were severely lacking in variety.

It's stupid to expect doctorines with four armies at launch and no doubt more in the expansions.

Relic has been having trouble balancing four armies with doctorines in CoH: OF since the thing came out more than a year ago and they still fumble it every single patch.

Doctrines in a DoW game would be stupid. Orkz and SM are different enough that I don't think they need to give them traits that make them more unique. What, Eldar doctrines that allow me to field wraith units, jet bike units, or harlequins? How do you even expand on that?

I'm thinking nothing more crazy than, say, what the Tau have in DoW; a minor divergence in tech trees that still accomidates two different playstyles.

Anyone interested in the art side of this game might find this cool:

Interview with an artist who worked on DoW 2. He only talks about DoW briefly towards the end, but there's some pretty sweet pics of the Warboss, both in-game and hi-poly shots. Kinda cool, and whets the appetite for a new opening cinematic of that level of quality.

Seriously, how OPed were guardsmen when Winter Assault first arrived and any Commissar attached to a squad made that squad immune to morale loss. D:

    http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/888/888046p1.html
A few of the new pieces of information we now know:

*) Supression (think COH) is in the game in addition to the existing morale factor.
*) Squad sargeants are persistent in the single player campaign and gain levels and attribute points, which can be spent on various attributes to unlock special skills. (frag's note: don't be suprised when this is in the multiplayer game too, Relic has basically telegraphed from the beginning that they are going to be going for a lot of persistent elements in DOW2 multiplayer.)
*) "To balance that out, it's also possible to cause enemies to flee if they feel outnumbered, indicated by a large exclamation point appearing over their heads." - CoH style retreats are apparently in.
*) Cover system works apparently a lot like COH-mouse over to find the areas of best cover for your troops.
*) Squad leaders do not die, they flop over when out of health and can be revived by getting another leader near to bring them back to life (sounds a lot like the AOE3 explorer recovery, which works fine).
*) Squads will reinforce either from drop pods (once per mission, presumably only from SM) or, and here is the BIG news-from shrines, which sounds like relic points on map, this time defended by enemies (and will likely be contested in single player).
*) At least in the single player game (and you know this is going into multiplayer as well, Relic is just being a tease), you'll fight extra difficult mobs at the end of missions, and they will drop freaking LOOT (apparently complete with rarities! OMG grind an RTS for loot!) to equip your squad with.
The scene looks more like something from Diablo II than a real-time strategy game. The warboss even has a boss health meter visible at the screen's top and special attacks, like a shockwave move and a ground attack that lights up terrain in a line before a string of explosions triggered. The tactics of taking him down involve moving troops out of the way of his ground shockwave, steering clear of his melee attacks, and keeping a squad focused on clearing out the Ork rabble that keeps spawning. Once he is finally killed, he drops his gun, which is labeled as a "blue" item.
*) Game is already running smoothly and obviously looking great. No suprise, given that COH's engine, which DOW2 is based off of, was quite scalable.

It doesn't take a wizard to see where Relic is going with this in multiplayer. They are apparently hybridizing the RTS genre with Diablo-styled loot and levels, which not only better fits the super-customizablility of the W40K franchise, but allows them to open up multiplayer to co-op play in addition to competitive multiplayer.

So first Dawn of War 1 copies Starcraft 1 and now DOW2 is copying Diablo 3. Purleeze. More like World of Dawn of Warcraft amirite?
Im being sarcastic, mainly because A: Warhammer came way before anything by Blizzard and B: All Relic games have been superior anyways.
