Well, right now I am really seriously considering losing the £350 I've spent on a ticket to San Francisco for the 19th of November and booking a new ticket (for £390, cheapest I can find) to fly out next week!

    Well, you're unemployed...
do you feel like you're just waiting around?

    That'd be understandable

    Yes I do

    Okay I'm actually torn now

My post was in reaction to my mother (who really upset me this evening), but now that has been sorted, and she is actually amenable to the idea of me flying out earlier and having a completely private wedding (yesss)

    Dilemma

You should definitely fly out sooner rather than later. I saw mori and nads walking out of a 7-11 holding hands and drinking out of the same Slurpee. You need to win your man back before it's too late!

    That's kinda okay though, since they're forum-twins!

Rachel: Wow, that is quite a dilemma...

Oh, none taken. All I have done is create this thread, and I wouldn't dare ruin anyone else's enjoyment.

Ack, the sensible thing is to stay. Mori doesn't have the money for Adjustment of Status yet and I'd lose the money I've already spent on a plane ticket. Plus I'd miss this meet-up, of course.

But at the same time there's nothing particularly keeping me here.

If only her mother had said this, oh, a year ago so we could've gone with our original plan of getting married immediately and then having a party later when we have the money.

Rachel doesn't want to add stuff to our registry until we have a confirmed guest list.

But I've been adding things here and there.

    Hahaha

Well, my family will still be visiting for Christmas. There could always be a Christmas party.

I was uneasy about receiving gifts/making a registry anyway, so that'd be another weight off my mind!

What Rachel fails to realize is that even if we have a tiny wedding in a courthouse, my family will still insist upon seeing the registry.

if you decide to have a party that's not 2 days after christmas. I'll try and attend that and also be in CA for like a week or 2 so I can see the place.

    No, I think it's dreadful

I mean, is it really so dreadful if a couple of guests buy you similar things? Or if you don't get that £300 stainless steel cooking set?

No wedding registry and no bridal shower for me. I think quite some people are thinking John and I are being silly because they kept asking us "why, why whyyyyy??!"

Aah yes, I am avoiding the bridal shower too, thank goodness.

I'm not sure why you'd be considered silly. It's crazy!

Okay, I am not flying out early and the wedding is still as planned (for now). We may downsize, though.

I'll attend the meet-up for sure.

I need to get a new Railcard I think for this. I've been doing surprising amounts of training about this year.

It's like those bloody yellow cards, I never go to Scream pubs when I have one but the second it expires I'll find myself going to one three times a week.

    I think I am.

I might even take the car instead of flying. From what I hear Stanstead Airport is a shithole and about as far away from London as my house.

I just checked and it looks good. I can fly to Heathrow and back the next morning for less than 100 Euros. Taking the car would cost me close to 200. The flight back is fuck-early in the morning though. Would much be happening on the Sunday?

    necroposting in here

is this still going ahead because with my new job i could be off for the weekend for these dates, well the 9th and 10th not the 8th. It all depends on what team/shift i'm put on.

    Where is everyone staying?
