I need more info on Rock Band!
For starters, there is the
Rock Band WikiPedia page that is up-to-date for the most part. The folks in this thread are more than happy to answer any quick questions you might have.
Oh man, this game is awesome! But I'm stuck on...
Hold on! As usual, there are people out there far better than you that full combo "Freebird" on Expert while upside down on leftmode with their ear lobes. For the most part, you can find a gold mine of info and help by visiting the
ScoreHero Rock Band forums and checking out the stickied topics and subforums.
So, what songs are in this?
This
WikiPedia page has them all listed and sorted accordingly. The PS3 and 360 versions have a Music Store in it that allows you to buy/download the weekly DLC.
Hmm, I want to see the notecharts for...
Pretty much any on-disc song can be found on YouTube. If you want to see notecharts for DLC or simply want to hear the music, check out the Rock Band DLC
Song Database page.
Fuck, PS2/Wii don't get DLC, right?
Sadly no. However, there is a
Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 1 currently available. The second volume is supposed to come some time in October.
Dude! This game totally needs...
Yeah yeah...we know. How about you go tell Harmonix what you want in the game via their
Song Request page. Will they listen? Who knows. But with all the awesome they've thrown on us every week, there's always the possibility...
GOD DAMMIT! MY GEAR IS BROKEN!
Harmonix/EA/MTV have been nice so far and allowed people to RMA their broken equipment via EA's
Support Site. However, the deadline for non-60 day reciept RMAs is October 1st, 2008 (this deadline is for Rock Band 1 gear in North America). After that, you need your reciept to send stuff in.
I'm tired of playing with these random retards...
So are we. This is why there is a PA group for Xbox Live folk. If you are down, throw a friend request at
Rock Band PA and check out who's on the list.
- Headsets aren't mandatory but it does make it more fun.
- Before throwing game invites, send a message beforehand to negotiate what instruments people are playing.
- Don't be a dick. This is just for fun.
- If you're doing Battle of the Band challenges, it helps to add PA folks to your friend list to check out how you measure up with the rest of us.

- Breakneck Speed - Hyperspeed mode returns, does not prevent unlocking.
- Daily Challenges - HMX will release Battle of the Bands challenges to be ranked versus people on your friend list, your region, and then worldwide.
- New Vocals Talky System - For the most part, talky sections are pretty much freebie sections as was the original intent. This makes talky-heavy songs far more fun than previously.
- Online Band World Tour - Take your music talents on the online road and size yourself up against everyone else out there with your own band.
- Drum Trainer - An in depth mode that allows you to learn how to play key parts of the instrument.
- New and Old Gear - While adding a bunch of new outfits and accessories for your characters, they've also retained the old gear in case you don't want to change your look in Rock Band 2.
- Song Selection in Band Quickplay - The ability to choose what song your pick-up online band is now up to a round robin system to prevent demented morons from picking "Welcome Home" again.
- Disc Exporting - Export almost all the Rock Band 1 on-disc songs onto your hard drive (Xbox 360 & PS3) for use in Rock Band 2. The only songs that cannot be transferred due to licensing issues are "Run to the Hills", "Paranoid", and "Enter Sandman". The cost is $4.99 or 400msp. The update for this was made available Sept. 5th for the 360 and Sept. 11th for the PS3. The songs take up about 1.5 gigs of the 360's HD. To export simply go into Options from the main menu and choose Export Songs.

==========Battle of the Bands
The main new feature is online Band World Tour. You can also take your band and challenge other bands via the new Battle of the Bands feature. Every day a new challenge will be posted on either the Tour Challenge or Battle of the Bands. As far as Battle of the Band challenges go:
- Your band's score is measured up against another band from your friend list.
- It isn't in real time but the score meter shows you how your band's progress is going.
- In a BotB setlist, your multiplier and leftover Overdrive will carry on to the next song.
- Make sure you read the requirements and rules for each challenge.
- You don't need to be in a full band.
The PA Band ListInterested in measuring up against other forumers? Friend them on LIVE/PSN and see who's gunning for top spot. All the scores are saved for the leader of the band on that gamertag. As such, only the leader of the band is listed since we can all sub in for other bands.
***gonna wait for the new RB website to keep this updated***
Not very.
My gamestop opens at noon (noon!) tomorrow, so I'm gonna try to pick it up from Wal-Mart at midnight tonight.
Edit: Also, does anyone know if Battle of the Bands can be played with folks online. Because if it can, we need to collaborate and dominate, gentlemen.
Oh, who am I kidding? Pettiness all around!
Do not engage the Watermelons.
I'll be getting this tomorrow afternoon. My wife's going to pick it up after work - using a bunch of gas to get the game a couple hours earlier isn't in the cards. :P

Megadeth? Mor liek MegaSUCK.
Har har har har har
Also, you forgot the All That Remains pack and Moving Pictures in the op.
I call drums.
EDIT: AHA! NO I DIDN'T GOOD SIR. YOU ARE MISTAKEN!
It had better be worth it...
Do not engage the Watermelons.
I call guitar! (I'm only up to hard (sometimes expert) drums)
I called and asked the (very nice) manager, who apologized for not knowing, but he just got back from the managers' conference. Fingers crossed.
no telling when I will get to sleep tonight. woo!
Because we aren't four-dimensional beings who experience time as a multi-faceted object instead of a straight line. Or something.
Also, Rob the Prez-o-dent looks awesome
Main riff kind of reminds me of Rock This Town.
Heh, I got one from Best Buy. It's an XL, so basically worthless.
After double checking today, my Wal-Mart did not get in RB2 on time, and won't be getting it till Monday morning.
So sadly I'll be waiting till tomorrow morning before I can rock out with my cock out. :winky:
And now, a short little review of the RB2 drumkit (I was able to snatch that up today):
It kicks ass.
To be a little more in-depth, the two distinct hit zones on the drums now (center mesh section and the outer solid rim) gives you direct feedback on where you're hitting the drums. The center section has much better rebound and feels a lot more like a real drumhead, and it seems a lot more accurate on detecting rolls (I only broke combo twice during the big roll in Train Kept a Rollin').
Playing them on RB1 though, they do indeed double hit if you smack them pretty hard, which I'm assuming is the crosstalk problem due to them being velocity sensitive now. But all in all they are a definite improvement and well worth the investment IMO.
~ Buckaroo Banzai
If the Rock Band 1 drums are a 10 on drum-loudness, and a 1 is hitting a pile of blankets with a drumstick, what are the Rock Band 2 drums?
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
The creator is almost exactly the fucking same. Quit bitchin', if you know how to work a d-pad, you'll have a band made in less than five minutes.
And World Tour still sucks because the solo is tied into it, and there's no simple, straightforward way to unlock everything. You'll be playing mystery setlists and the same shit over and over again (especially if you exported the RB1 stuff) to get to the new RB2 tracks.
And it still makes people go up in difficult as the game progresses -- and when you're playing with casual players who can barely do medium, it makes later cities on the tour goddamned impossible.
I'm still gonna pick it up tomorrow, and continue playing the shit out of it on my copy, but the DLC in the coming weeks is gonna make or break it for me.
Depends on where you're hitting them.
The mesh section in the center of the pad would be around a 5-6 while the outer rim would be somewhere near an 8-9.
~ Buckaroo Banzai
Band name suggestion: Chaos World-Smasher
I'm up for whatever instrument is needed to complete the band.
I was disappointed that That Handsome Devil wasn't in Rock Band. They're one of the main reasons I still wonder why they haven't released more in-house HMX bands as DLC.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Apparently the special edition of RB2 contains the Ion kit and not the standard drum set.
Any truth to that? Personally, I doubt that given the $180 price tag for the bundle (which still included the mic, guitar and game) and what the Ion's MSRP.
Awesome - I'm fairly good at hitting the center of the drums so just maybe I'll be able to actually play this in my apartment without pissing off the neighbors.
Uninformed register biscuits are uninformed. This and more after these messages:
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Man, don't tell me that all the Wally Worlds aren't stocked. I managed to ride out Ike (so far, anyway) and still have power... I don't want to drive an hour round trip to the Best Buy tomorrow.
I guess I'll see in the morning... (no way I'm getting out at midnight, sorry).
I don't think I'm going to be getting this tomorrow. Stupid...laziness.
My Walmart store in fuckin' barely-suburbia, South Dakota has it stocked for what that's worth. You can call and ask, too. Just say you're curious if the Rock Band 2 shipment is in so you can pick it up tomorrow.
Somebody not to reply and be a total asshat about it?
What I was expecting was just that, what I hoping for was about $4 to cover tax on Rock Band 2.
