I don't get why controllers have so many buttons. At most with PC games I'm using like, 7 buttons. WASD, Ctrl, space and LMouse.
Bull shit.
Or you play some really simple PC games.
With PC games you are using left and right mouse, and the wheel, wasd, probably e and r, cryl, maybe shift and alt and x and maybe 1 2 3 and 4.
To be fair, the mousewheel simplifies a lot of weapon selection, eliminating the need for at least 1 or 2 buttons.
Still, though, I usually end up using quite a few more of the buttons around WASD than just the jump button.
The mousewheel does not simplify weapon selection. You need to know where each and every weapon is located in your inventory so with a click of a button you can switch to flak cannon, to pulse rifle, to shock rifle, to rocket launcher, to impact hammer, to. . .
I dare any of you assholes to go back and play Goldeneye. Try to enjoy it.
Put your nostalgia aside.
We did once. The controls were not so great.
I did try Perfect Dark on a larf a few years ago, having never really gotten into GoldenEye. I found it remarkably well designed, although a little hard to figure out in places.

Once you get the flak cannon, there are no possible reasons to switch. The "Flak Monkey" designation beckons.

Most games, especially early FPS titles, don't age well because we become used to the modern conventions. Hell, my friend and worked at the mouse controls of Duke3D just so we could replicate modern mouselook that wasn't really configurable in-game.
Try playing Wolfenstein 3D or Doom. It's a little jarring.
SNES controller is/was/will always be the best controller.
I like mine.
When I got my Saturn I got like... 9? controllers with it. The only one I don't have is the big arcade stick. I've tried them all. I gotta say, I don't really understand all the love the Japanese slim got at the time; I thought the old SNES dogbones were much more comfortable and responsive.

Hahahaa.
My sniper rifle says no. So does my rocket launcher, and my pulse rifle, and fuck, even my two pistols.
Your sniper rifle is a dirty liar, and the ringleader of your other insipid weapons. All glory to the flak! May my shrapnel pierce your body and fester within you, and my grenades fly directly at your feet!

Darn, guess I’ll scrap my plans for an arena game.
They are going to release some add on that makes it more precise (yes, another bloody add on). They want to shoot for 1 to 1 motion. There's just one huge problem with it. There is no tactile feed back. If you swing your 1 to 1 sword at someone and it hits a shield or something, suddenly your arm in the real world and your arm in the game are way off, couple that with the lack of weight and heft of a wiimote and...

Only if you're in closed quarters or camping a closed hallway type area. Out in the open nothing beats shooting the hell out of someone with the shock rifle because you spent 24 hours straight playing Instagib.

I also bought the SNES Wireless lunchbox when it came out, but the "stick" on it sucks. WAAAAAY too sensitive. Final Fantasy III was unplayable; I usually only flub Sabin's blitzes about 5% of the time, and I couldn't get a Pummel going to save my life.

I use 3 weapons, the Sniper Rifle, for long engagements, and frankly often for mid-range ones too because I headshot like a whore in UT, or at least I used to. The Rocket Launcher, when you need to pulverize someone in the middle ranges, and the Flak Cannon, which is really for any situation in which flak or a flak grenade could possibly kill someone. If you want that "Flak Monkey" hotness, you gotta make that shit work.

Well it's just silly, really.
I thought the Wii wasn’t primarily for people who would want such a thing.

For some reason as a kid I could never figure out Sabin's blitzes. Ever. I would rent the game over and over again and get to the part where you have to perform the blitz and that'd be it. Failure over and over and over and over again.
It's like the pole vault in Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular. Only possible.
oh god i can hear the music from that snoopy stage. . .countless times spent playing it over and over and over and over hoping to one day vault that damn river. No one can.
I'm not really good enough at UT to use any one weapon, so I usually just end up using whatever I can grab between the time that I spawn and die or have ammo for. Aside from that, what ever weapon is fun.

if you were playing single player you were doing it wrong
it was all about 4 person License to Kill

Ugh, waggle controls for the most part suck. So imprecise.

that's exactly how we played.

Even Microsoft opted for that design over the original XBOX controller.

I have an incredibly low amount of experience with anything other than single-player anything.
Even in MMOs.

Have two. Love them. Still use my Advantage whenever I have an excuse though.

Like, my home won't have any chemicals in it.
I can't wait to live in a vacuum.
Bama always speakin' infallible truths all up in this bitch.
I never did master the combo with that rifle. Flak Cannon was my favorite.
EDIT: Instagib with shock rifle IS the way UT was meant to be played.

Yeah, I find it very comfortable. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy my XBox 360.
I disagree. I liked the N64 one, and the Gamecube one was fantastic. All it really wanted was another shoulder button.

*shrugs* I don't know, I stopped keeping up with the Wii a while ago.
Then it brings me to D&D as it usually does. It's really weird.
The N64 controller had a hella fragile analog stick and the gamecube controller would have been passable if my hands were 50% smaller.
unfortunately those are very important
i'd say the triggers and analogs make the 360 the best, although its shoulder buttons are fucking terrible
