SquareEnix Blood of Bahamut countdown- Today! There's a trailer
Square Enix has released the first screenshots of a new RPG called Blood of Bahamut for the Nintendo DS in the latest Shonen Jump magazine.
- The game will feature two protagonists Ibuki and Yui.
- They live in a fortified city built on the back of a giant.
- The giant will wake up during an enemy attack, our heroes must fight and defend their city.
- Cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players locally available.
- The game will be presented at Jump Festa expo in Japan at the end of the year.
Apparently, Square-Enix has trademarked the name "Blood of Bahamut" recently. And no one online seems to know what the teaser site is all about. :-P
EDIT: Bah, beat by the OP!
Doesn't look like anything Bahamut Lagoon related. But Square-Enix has been doing some strange things with their Final Fantasy IP as of late. Stranger than Chocobo Dungeon. I mean, just look at Dissidia.
It's got a little SNES-looking sprite as the favicon. Final Fantasy XIV built on the SNES engine confirmed?

Well if it were based on an existing property I would think that the internet would be able to figure it out from the music or the picture or someone would have translated the kanji and guessed it by now
My Japanese isn't very good (although my kanji deciphering is nice thanks to being fluent in Chinese), but even with my limited Japanese, it's very obvious that this is a countdown to a Blood of the Bahamut announcement what with the whole Bahamuuto no (Kanji for blood) that started the first sentence on the website.

So ... it's a new IP? From Square-Enix?
That can't be it

It sounds like every other Uematsu song ever written.
Speaking of new SE IPs, whatever happened to that one they uneviled a few months ago about the cursed RPG, the one that switches between a DQ clone and a first-person adventure game?

It was released in Japan, got decent reviews, sold poorly, and was never heard of again.

And you have no idea how depressed I am about that one
This... well, it would be nice if it were Bahamut Lagoon, but chances are it's not.

If only. Those are games that haven't aged well, at this point you are better off just listening to the still great soundtracks.
But I read it on the internet!

It worked for Mega Man.
It sounds like every other Uematsu song ever written.
Ergo, DynamiTracer sequel.
It's got an old-school sound to it, too. My money is on new DSi IP.
