I despise you
LoL: BunyipAristocrat
I gave my Empire army to a friend! Now I just run around with Hydras and ASF Executioner's Axe.
If you're not running with Dispel Scrolls I'd pretty strongly suggest having 2 Warrior Priests and an Arch Lector (and maybe take the Casket). That'll give you 5 Dispel Dice and no scroll, which ain't great but isn't terrible. It'll also let you put some pressure on in the magic phase.
Yeah that's what I've been doing, I lack a little bit of punch though, and I think the altar would help with that.

This somehow excuses you?
(that was sarcasm)
at least he doesn't run a fucking deathstar like a mongoloid
Hay guyse, 15 irongutz, can I win with it??
warseer
A/S/L???
Beasts and Ogres are both ugly, but Beasts are just downright...boring. Ogres at least have some personality.
good luck pinning them down and not getting flank charged
Have you looked at Minotaurs? I actually like some of the Beasts, like the Beastlord with two hand weapons, but things like this guy? No thanks.
That explains their complete and utter lack of armor! Have fun against anything with shooting or a magic phase, BoC!
Too bad they don't generate any CR and are so far behind the power creep that they get skullfucked in CC.
To be fair, that's only the Gor/Ungor units that have that problem. Still, you look at what 12 points get you for Beastigors and you just have to laugh. I'll admit, though, that the statline on a Doombull ain't bad:
M6 WS6 BS3 S5 T5 W4 I5 A5 LD9 for 180 points. I'd pay for that line in my DE army.
EDIT: To compare, a Dreadlord is:
M5 WS7 BS6 S4 T3 W3 I8 A4 LD10 for 140, so:
M+1 WS-1 BS-3 S+1 T+2 W+1 I-3 A+1 LD-1 for 40 points. Of course, the Dreadlord has about 1000000 times better mundane and magical options.
they generate up to +2, check the book
also, yeah, correct duck
any sort of range just ruins them
Okay, lets try to get this post right this time: the problem is, if they run into skirmishers or the flank of a unit (depending on the size) they rank 4 wide and get no CR. They have some issues.
the diagram explaining it shows them ranking 6 wide going against a frontage of 4 wide
just that it is not as horrible as people might think
It depends on how many can reach. If you have only 4 that can reach, your frontage is 4. The other issue lies with the ambush itself, they're going to usually be a good distance from your general and their leadership is 6. My Harpies have a leadership of 6; if someone looks at them wrong they're off the table.
Against anything else, you base as normal for skirmishers, meaning "as wide as you can". If that's 5+, you get your rank bonus up to +2 for being raiders.

Any advice for fighting Lizardmen with them? That is what my friend is getting. We will be starting our first games with about 750-1000 points, if that helps.
Kick his ass! Your corsairs need new cloaks!
:winky:
apparently rock lobbas, trolls and blorcs aren't worth taking and giants are awesome
oh also, you shouldn't take too many savage boar boyz
why do I do this to myself
For the same reason any rational person visits a fan-forum: because deep-down, we all despise ourselves.
man what
They have even stupider posters than they used to, if this is the shit that happens there now.
You get 20 State Troops, 10 Hangunners, 8 Knights and 10 Greatswords for like $105 before tax.
8 Knights = $35.00
20 State Troops = $44.00
10 Handgunners = $22.00
10 Greatswords = $41.25
Total = $142.25
Total savings = $37.25
I mean, Jesus Titty-Fucking Christ. Of course, this is all because of the knob-slobbing price on the Greatswords. I know that the previous battalion boxes were supposed to be decent deals, but come on.
On a good note, if anyone were looking to start Empire I'm sure you could do much worse than buying two battalion boxes and rounding that out with characters and warmachines, and perhaps one more box of State Troops to get a detachment.
As a matter of fact, could anyone let me know how many points you could get out of the two boxes, assuming one unit of Swordsmen, one unit of Spearmen, and that one group of knights is Inner Circle.
I'm assuming DoC is in the lead?
