The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It took so fucking long oh my god just like the movies wow!
It was fun. If you played the LOTR one you have this little trail where the one ring goes and yeah if you get it in before some one dies than the good side automatically wins. The evil side has a big advantage though. We, the good side, almost lost if it wasnt for destroying the ring quick enough
the lord of the rings movie board games are a thousand times better than lord of the rings trivial pursuit
No, because, see, nobody I know can beat me at Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit.
Which makes it awesome.
I got a bunch of people who absolutely hated lord of the rings to play the movie boardgames and within three turns they were doing devious shit I wasn't even aware was possible and it was delightful
I actually played my first board game in years. Me and a couple of friends decided to play good old Risk. The game, uh, ended very poorly, you see, as I wound up taking the board and started beating my friend over the head with it.
The guy totally had it coming though, pretty much thwarted my entire plan of taking over Asia, and was a complete dick about it, too.
So yeah, my violent outburst in the end was completely justified.
The Battlestar Galactica boardgame is fantastic. It's like mafia, but more complicated! Red Dragon Inn is also pretty fun for a quick card game. It can get a little unwieldy if you have the expansion, but it's still a good time. I have a feeling it would make a great drinking game.
Lost Cities and Gubs are both excellent card games. I wish LC was a little less expensive, but the card art is fantastic. The only problem is the amount of math you have to do is obnoxious. It's one of the few games that is better online. Gubs is neat, and appropriately cheap. I'd recommend it to anyone, and you can even try it out somewhere on their website.
Game play consisted of maneuvering clay playing pieces through several plastic obstacles on a board that were aimed to physically disfigure or decapitate the playing piece
I'm not even sure if I played it more than once according to its instructions. I think my brother and I just kept making grapes and executing them every second (until our demands were met, the grape negotiators never seemed that interested though).

It's like an in depth Monopoly.
Also, I once played a Russian Monopoly-esque game.
