Cower in fear mortals, and despair as you gaze upon the leader of the Netherlands:
Also, our national anthem is weird. It praises William of Orange for standing up the Spanish, out of necessity because they have become such cruel opressors. Because many people at the time were on the fence on the validity of the war, it's rather nuanced, for instance, the final line of the first verse is
"The King of Spain I have always Honored."
The whole thing is long as fuck, and over the years it has become slower and slower, and is now sung at a snails pace.
Also, we nearly adopted a racist as fuck anthem as the official national anthem in the 1930's instead of this one.
EDIT: Hrmm why can't i get the img tags to work...nevermind, i'm stupid and didn't see google abbreviated the URL.
Wait, being sexed up with the French is a good thing now?
Didn't you guys rename foodstuffs just to get at them? Freedom Fries wasn't it?
I recall the French replying that fries were a Belgian invention, and it's only called French Fries in English, so nobody else cared anyway.

I just did the treadmill for the first time in a month. Jesus, two weeks of sitting on my arse playing video games and all my fitness is completely gone
Just watched Full Metal Jacket (of which Adam Baldwin is my favorite part).
Speaking of Adam Baldwin, I had completely forgotten he was in Independence Day. He was also in The Patriot. Appropriate three films--maybe I should watch those, too. Then it can be Independence and Adam Baldwin Day.

My zombie survival life simulator They Don't Sleep is out now on Steam if you want to check it out.
Yeah, it's about some guy whose noble name comes from some land in France, who boasts about having German blood and who honours the Spanish king.
It is a rather weird opening for the Dutch anthem, isn't it?
Then again, my personal favourite king of the Netherlands is Louis Bonaparte, Napoleon's little brother, so maybe that kind of thing is just part of our national psyche. :P
Heh. I remember when a teacher got very angry at me when I refused to sing the part in the Swedish national anthem about being willing to die for your country.

I'm spending less and less time on the forums. This is a sad situation.
How could that be sad? Unless you aren't out hanging with friends or making sweet, sweet love to tha womens. :winky:
I am. But still, I like this place, and I'm sad to frequent it less.
Well, at least you are here now. So soak all the goodness that is the forum in while you can.
How was your Canada Day btw?
Cool. My family was in town visiting, so we went to a historical reconstruction fort together with my girlfriend, her best friend and husband. Then, BBQ at best friend's place.
You?

Not bad. Went to see a bit of the concert at city hall with the family then took the boy to a park where they had a bunch of those inflatable castles and things. There was a large slide in the shape of an octopus destroying a ship which was pretty cool to see.
Then there were the fireworks at night. All in all by the end of the night I had 10 bites from bugs. Damn bugs. :x

Shit, I wouldn't have a problem with that. It's not like it will ever come up, right?

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.

A house in which someone died.*
It was nice, though decorated in old-person fashion.
*(may not have actually died in the house, but the owner is definitely deceased)
It was also huge.
Very cool news on the looking at the house.

Just remember that you'd be totally alone.
Just like in WoW then.

I read that and now for some reason I can't help but think of little rockets blasting off with bumpers attached to them.
I haven't logged on to a [chat] this nice in some time.
