When I went on my first field school, the head of the program asked after a lecture asked if we had any questions. One person asked for tips on the proper technique for using a poisonous snake as a whip for hitting nazis in the face.
The professor maintained it was "all in the wrist."

Well it looks like the band is rather unhappy about someone posting the liner notes online
Oooooooops
just read that post
I love the music these dudes put out, but they're giving me the message that because I prefer digital distribution I am not as worthy as the people who were able and willing to have a physical CD shipped.
if you think that a person doesn't deserve the liner notes because they bought the album over itunes or something then you ought to be punched in the head

fuck
that
faggotry.
I hear you on this one.
I chose to go with a digital download when they mentioned that the CDs would take a few extra days in their original announcement about the release of the album. I had planned to buy the physical copy once it was off backorder, but now I'm not so sure. I don't particularly care for them treating me like a second class customer because I wanted to be able to hear the music as soon as it was available.
Of course I still like the music and would still probably see them live if they came into town, but my respect for the band just went down a bit.
I've been searching madly through this thread for the liner notes GG transcribed, but people are only talking about them. Where did he post them? On the actual Protomen forum?

I mean this album had so many damn liner notes required to understand what the fuck was going on, they were essentially punishing people for buying it digitally instead of rewarding people for buying it physically.

to hold up some of your customers as great because they purchased the physical record and deride others for buying digital seems like a poor choice. You're getting paid either way, and you're also giving some people more for their money over others. And you're getting more money from the digital purchases!
Also, you come off like an indie douchefag. Whenever someone starts expounding on vinyl I immediately stop giving a shit about what they're saying.

no man you just don't get it if you're a real fan of the music you buy the CD which of course costs more and takes a few weeks to get shipped out
you can't just support the band, you have to support it the right way
if you buy music digitally, you are scum and ought to be universally reviled
laying it on too thick here?

I would argue that they engaged in deceptive business practices by intending to withhold the liner notes from their online customers.

actually reads more or less like that other thread that was linked.
oh also I find it funny that if I bought the CD I wouldn't be able to listen to the music.
I never owned a big-style CD player, the walkman I used through high school is long broken, and my laptop doesn't even have a CD drive in it

I don't know what that means.
That phrase literally means nothing.
You're a child of your generation. Yes. Thank you for pointing out that I belong to a generation of people.
I fully endorse this assertion that I am in a grouping of people.
Which grouping?
Hold on there champ.
Let's not get to crazy here.

My God the Protomen are Luddites.
For instance, how would you feel if your ReadAlong book of "The Black Hole" got lost and all you had left was the tape to listen to?
How would you feel if you bought the tape but the book only came with the vinyl

It seems weird to me that they're gonna punish people for buying digital when those are the people that are just a few clicks away from getting it free illegally. I understand that they like the physical version better or whatever, but the logical thing in my mind is that, if anything, you want to provide incentive for buying digital, since it dissuades people that are on the fence about pirating it and also since there's no overhead.
Starting to respect them somewhat less if that is the case.
I think it was, and then the guy named commander on the board came in and tried to fix it. He said that he thought that way too, however, but he just wanted people to calm down about it.

Can you play frisbee with digital discs?
