After reading UC Avengers #3 I'm really interesting in finding out who
the guy is in the Spider-man outfit. Maybe one of the former Liberators?

That doesn't look like Cage on the left, or at least not the way he was in USM. If it is, Millar just loves stereotypes, huh?

And I get the feeling the Cap/Punisher person will be Ultimate USAgent

You have Hawkeye and Sam Wilson or Rhodey on the right.
Millar mentioned he was going to use The Punisher in UA and he did have that idea of turning Frank into Cap after Civil War that he thought was so fascinating so yeah, I'm guessing he's going to have Castle doing this in his black ops group while Rogers is rogue.

Did they really change it into just a Spider-Man outfit or was that just to hide a creepy reveal?
I noticed they recently changed one of the covers that featured Black Ops Spidey and bizarrely, he's no longer sporting the creepy bug body, eyes and cloak to hide his terrible visage from the women that will never love him.

    I blame it on Loeb.
Hulk was intelligent at the end of Ultimates 2, but Loeb came along and made him retarded again.
It's the only way Millar thought he could resume, I guess.

I don't think I'll ever understand the people who said the Ultimate Universe needed an Ultimatum/reboot in any way.

Continuity was not that confusing, the books were still easy to get into, everything is collected in trade, crossovers were kept to a minimum, and everything had recap pages.

    the Ultimate Universe was fine.

i had no idea what was going on or cared about what was going on in X-Men, Fantastic Four and hated what Loeb did with the Ultimates. The only really consistent book has always been Ult. Spider-Man, and seems to come out of Ultimatum with a shitload of possible storylines, so i guess its better off for it.

also having the Ultimate Universe means you can actually make changes to the storyline that stick, rather than have it return to the status quo 3 months later

    It's probably
Ultimate Scorpion. He was a mentally unstable clone of Peter Parker and was shown to have survived the Ultimate Clone Saga arc. He was last seen contained at Shield along with the Gwen Stacey clone. She got out, I guess he got his tail removed and has mellowed down a bit.

It was also a highly illegal graft bonded to his spine without his consent. You think he'd want that thing on when he was going to the bathroom?

It might not even be him. Could be another clone or original character.

I'm not sure I buy that it's Scorpion-Peter. They said that he had made assistants commit suicide and shit; not only is that a lot darker than Scorpion was, it's a lot smarter.

Color it red and it's Ultimate Hood

But since the script says the cloak is black, I guess it's already Ultimate Hood!

Ultimate spider-man continues to not be be bad. I wouldn't say it's up to the it's highs from before, but at least it's nowhere near it's lows.

Ultimate avengers is interesting, though nerd hulk is confusingly bad.

The fact Loeb has a book coming casts a deathly pallor over everything.

I thought Millar being back in the Ultimate universe doing his version that everyone liked would make it at least in the 80's for the second issue.

    It could be 3 things:
    1) Loeb killed a lot of interest in the Ultimate Univers
    2) People are tired of Millar's writing
    3) Everyone assumes it will be late and are just trade waiting.

Basically I thought with a line wide reboot you would see sales trend back to normal a lot slower than what we see here. It's kind of like WildStorm rebooting all the time and it having no effect on sales.

On the plus side, Loeb's Hulk book fell really hard from #14 to #15, about 20,000 less copies.

As for who the Shroud might be....
the big finger point would be at the girl MJ leaves work with, or maybe Jessica. I was hoping it wouldn't be yet another ca-razy high school kid, but alas..

And looking over this issue, it just struck me how much MJ looks like Kathryn Immonen.

Technically correct, but I might just have gone with the less direct but more substantive answer.

I've seen her at Toronto conventions before, along with her husband. The red hair, the same style of glasses, the sharpish features...all are shared by MJ. Just add twenty five years and you've got her.

That actually makes a lot of sense in context to the abilities Kitty showed in that future thing.
Shroud slamming on heavy cars and shit is just Kitty making herself more dense. The disappearing act is just phasing into the ground and such.
