yeah I realized that after I posted and ended up just warping them back to shape, and had to clear out the linework which made things disproportionate.
and whats wrong with the torso? jeez u act like the things a complete failure.

It's not a failure. It's very pretty. I'm just concerned that its basically unchanged since this stage.
I like the face, but I think this piece lacks unity. Maybe it's because of the bad compostion/crop, how flat the rest of the image is relative to face. I am just really bothered you never gave her a body. You gave her an inverted parentheis shape for body and lopsided boobs, and you come out with this image that is really really polished but crappy looking to people who A) saw the original drawing and know you didnt fix anything, and people who know that people have torsos.
lol k now i see what ur saying. I agree I did a poor job croping it, what sux is that its gonna get cropped more in order for it fit on this tiny ass e-vite. I'll try to remember what u pointed for next time.

Next enemy, shown with human for scale. I'm not sure I like this one as much as the wolf. I'm going to give it a day off before I sprite it, because bears are awesome and this doesn't do them justice. I'm pretty sure I'll end up changing this.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking into that one (and the other Pietas), but they usually don't show Mary kneeling...I found a low-res kneeling reference, though I wonder what anyone stumbling onto my computer will think of my having a photo of a naked kneeling man holding a gun (which is basically what I settled for).
EDIT: Oh, and it isn't April.

I never heard anyone say that art is a race. I've got a thing I've been working on for a month and it's still nowhere ready to show to you guys for crits.
Hah...I was going to PM Mykonos about getting a bit of artwork done. And then I saw his website. And his resume.
I have no idea how much of an art budget I actually -need- here, but I have a feeling that the $1000 I've been shooting for is going to be slightly under target.
Is that some sort of social commentary about how the guy with the bright yellow shirt won't be noticed because of his dark skin, or are Marvel's writers just really, really stupid?

A concept doodle for my second MJ editorial illustration. Article is about the cancellation of his 2000 item auction. I took a concept of one of his private commissioned paintings

and did a did the concept based off that. MJ says his items are of sentimental value and are priceless. I took the word priceless as if the humour of his obsession of E.T. is so funn it's priceless. Get it? Its shit idea i know, but its due in a week!
And a watercolour/acrylic sketch. I overworked the face with pen. It started with one mistake which i tried to correct, and it turned into hundreds of mistakes!!!
BTW, that date in the top corner is incorrect. I thought it was the 20th today, actually it's only the 19th!
Maybe this is nitpicky, but she doesn't look like she has the confidence of an adventurer. Something about the face says "What do you mean Dave already has a date to the prom?"
It also looks like her sword has a weird shank in it where it goes behind her right knee.
Other than that, I like it. Can't wait to see the finished piece.
Delzhand - I haven't conveyed it strongly enough yet, but I want her to be scared of the dungeon she is in, as she has been forced into this situation. Thanks for the crits.
The posing of the legs bothers me more. Like she is starting to squat down. It's not so much a problem that both knees are bent...but having them both bent and in the same position is a little odd.
Yeah, I was going to comment on the same thing (really, I swear!), though I'm less certain with how it might be improved. A contrapposto wouldn't work, since that's kind of a confident sort of stance; I think maybe if you bent that far leg a bit more, and maybe turned it out more? Something that makes her look more like she's tentatively walking, at any rate (along those lines, I wonder if she couldn't also use a bit more tentativeness in the posing of her upper body (more hunched shoulders, or a more dynamically posed spine, perhaps?); looking closer, I think that might also contribute to the squatting impression.
looking good so far F87. But i too think the legs are a little odd. Once you've got the character worked out, extend the canvas and do a cool background. Im can imagine it looking really cool. The lighting is pretty good too. Maybe her shirt is reflecting the light too much...? Keep going mate!
Also, try snapping some photos for reference. Even set up a camera on timer and just walk in front of it while it captures shots. Might make the piece look less static.

Also, I think something might be wrong with his right eye Tam. It looks like the pupil/iris might be a bit off center, I'm not sure.

Look any better? I worked on the expression some, but now I'm coming to find the the head structure is off. Or feels off.
