-novid should reduce the loading time when you start the game. I don't know if -noborder improves performance any more than simply running in windowed mode would.
On another note, if you guys think any arguing about TF2 is bad, you should hear people whine and complain about DLC prices on 360, and the spawned argument
Framerate hit is marginal. If you're stuttering from running windowed you have a bad computer anyway.
Well with fullscreen I get a steady 60+ but if I go windowed it drops to 30ish. 30 is pretty bad.
Also my game looks better than everyone else's and I will be goddamned if I'm going back. You can pry burning gibs from my cold, dead, rubber-hat glove.
Unless you mean framerate. Framerate doesn't improve with windowed mode.
And if you use the multicore support thing it crashes almost every map change.
I have multicore support enabled and use the recommended cvars for using it together with windowed mode and I have no problems. I also don't get those fabled BSODs some people complain about.

The best way to learn would be to just join one of the servers in the OP, start playing and ask specific questions (in this thread or while playing the game) when something isn't clear.

Just do the opposite of what you see Goomba doing and you'll be a golden.
The main reason why I haven't bothered playing on the PA servers. I can usually get on other servers in much less time instead of being bored trying to fill a server that's maybe 1/4 full. And there's more likable people there, though that leads to some partial "team friend list" stacking among us who use a mic and play somewhat regularly (it's boring as fuck when you're playing with mic-less people).

At the same time, playing on a public server without a !radio channel and listening to some random guy tell me about his day while I'm killing mans is not much fun.

That sounds like the PA server whenever certain people are on.
Also screeching. Always with the goddamn screeching.

I'd rather server hop looking for the one that's decent, than spend half an hour watching the drama chamber refuse me due to slot reservations.
At least if I server hop, I can slowly build up a list of decent servers.
technically the "bad posting TF2" pic in OP is fan art, and it's got all the TF2 thread regulars in it. So your exclusive club isn't so exclusive anymore :P

Teach me of this game you call "Team Fortress 2".
And if you use the multicore support thing it crashes almost every map change.
But hey it makes alt-tabbing really easy!!

Posting from windowed mode now, and I see no noticeable difference.

I know I should be mad at at this, but I can not deny the accuracy of said statement.
and since we're talking about Zot's Server:
I loved when we would do weird shit. The West Coast server inspired me to be the player I am today.
If thats why you are what you are today, then we should burn zot and his server.
Yea no kidding people without mics are usually really horrible at the game.
Who Touched My GUN?!
MORTAL KOMBONK!
I never finish anyth

You do enough talking for our entire team.
Its a public service for me not to speak when you have their ears filled with aural feces. 8-)

Best thing I crossposted this year. Watch it.
I figured it'd get the thread off to a good start.
Yeah, suck on that, fuckers.
I was on the edge of my chair.
You talk clean and bomb hospitals, so I speak with the foulest mouth possible
