Someone in the know, besides the increased risk of explosion why arnt we using hydrogen to power cars yet? Also wind farms are awesome, we have one like 45 minuets from me that powers a whole town. More windfarms please.
There aren't very many affordable sources of hydrogen and most (95%) of it is still refined from fossil fuels currently.
Also wind farms are not that awesome at all really. They are extremely expensive, unreliable, inefficient, and nobody likes having them in their neighborhood.
Yep - the reason we haven't moved beyond oil and oil-derivatives, yet, is because it is still way, way, way, way cheaper to do things with gasoline than anything else.
Unless and until you can get similar energy densities at a similar price from somewhere else, oil is still the best option. This will likely only happen when we start seriously running out of easily tapped oil reserves, and the cost of oil goes stratospheric.
Moving to hydrogen isn't as simple as producing hydrogen-fueled cars. You also have to rebuild the entire gasoline-dispensing infrastructure across the entire world (or, at least, a large percentage of the US or Europe) before it'll catch on in anything approaching a meaningful fashion.
It's like fully-electric plug-in cars. They're great if you're driving from your home into the suburbs into work in the city and back home each and every day. They aren't so great if, for some reason, you decide you want to drive cross-country. Ergo, people who own these cars either largely give up the ability to travel long-distances in their own vehicles, or they have to own a gasoline-powered car, as well.
Why don't we invest in a new infrastructure anyway?
I mean, isn't that one of the reasons America was so strong in the fifties because we were and had been building the interstate to accommodate the needs of the military and large industries?
In the 1800s it was the rail system.
As I see it when the work force are working on large projects America's economy is strongest.
We could easily restructure the rail and interstate systems to a new modern standard in a few years if their was enough capital.
The real reason is it isn't profitable or outright bad for the big industrial special interests in the country. The oil and automobile lobbies have a lot of political clout.
So do we just run another trillion into the red, or actually raise funds for this crazy super project?
Take it from the oil companies.
I'm not an economist or even a good citizen so I really don't have any right to an opinion but man It just seems like a good idea to me to tax people that are running the country into the ground.

Well that would raise about half of the figure I pulled out of my ass.
i'll raise the other half trillion via nitrogen stockpiling via poop receptacles and then i could go to the discovery building and hold people hostage while threatening to dump the nitrogen into the ocean
and then motherfucking bullet trains wOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i gave up trying to understand the global economy / banking system and just decided that it was over my head and i would do better just trying to earn some of my own cheddar and keeping track of it
i would do naughty things to the girl in my avatar and then some

I mandate that all bullet trains have to have a whistle tip. So they go wooo WOOOOOO.
I know none of this is new or particularly deep thinking, and I don't want to come off like a college freshman all "man, money is meaningless duuuuuuuuude"
But it really strikes me sometimes what a clusterfuck the system is
until some shithead convinces you that your holo charizard card is TOOOOTALLY worth 4 double colorless energy cards because those things are fucking rare, everyone can get a charizard in the game on the gameboy
Basically the entire world economic system is horribly fucked up and probably incomprehensible to most people without spending countless hours attempting to learn how exactly to plumb those depths.
This works in the favor of the system itself because its complexity acts as a sort of shield against criticisms because real standing arguments against it require a level of articulation that goes beyond the layman. The most easily understood article of value still remains to be property because no matter how a currency may inflate there's still only so much land to build on, and some of it will almost always be worth more than others (minus some fluctuation as to locale.) This is why the collapsing of the housing bubble was such an immense clusterfuck. Land is pretty much the most tangible currency you can imagine, and the laws governing its ownership are a complex lot.
In short, the unfuckable aspect of the national economy got fucked with, and we're still trying to figure out how to retrofit the act of it being fucked into our favor.

Oil is awesome, because the initial production of the energy happened a long time ago and no cost to us.

It's just numbers that we make up and pretend mean something
I don't understand economics but it all strikes me as a big illusion we're all choosing to play along with

Yeah this.
It is really suspicious. Maybe it is a all a social construct meant to control people?
I apologize I have a massive head cold and am not really coherent right now.
But it really strikes me sometimes what a clusterfuck the system is
That's my two cents
(or two chickens)
just dumping and chugging along like it wasn't no thing?

fuck that kid
I'll take it in a hound and three skins.
Magic was better anyway.

If that makes any sense in any way shape or form.
were they banned because of THE DEVIL
or because of kids beating the shit out of each other
that shit happened to my school when i was like 8
with pogs
kids were literally beating each other into bloody submission over pogs
Then we werent allowed to bring em to school anymore.
Steam
POGS?!
I remember the shits being popular for like ONE SUMMER.
It must have been awful knowing you got beat up for pogs the year after they were gone.
somewhere
i think
i don't throw hardly anything away
But never playing a game with them.
How the shit did you even play that game?
Here let me explain:
First we stack up a bunch of pogs, mostly yours, then I throw my slammer at you and run away whith the whole stack.
This game sucks.
Peggers?
Fuck.
