Jeez. Seeing that link with all the mods and fixes makes me want to play this again. But I have The Witcher on my hard drive and I never played it . . . Which one should I play?

If you play the Witcher, you will finish it and get to look forward to the incoming sequel with a sense of great anticipation.
If you replay PS:T, you will finish it and cry yourself to sleep knowing that Black Isle is dead.

It can be short ot long depending on how inquisitive you are.
Unfortunately there seem to be some lingering issues with PST on Win 7, at least for me. Thought it was running like a champ aside from the rare crash when it loaded between levels. However as I got into the game I found the spells are really messed up graphically. Lots of big black and brown cubes and stuttering. Some are alright but others just turn into a random mess.
There look to be some fixes for it. I'll see what they do.
I don't think that's a Win 7 problem, I think that's a problem with newer video cards.
No your right it's mainly an issue with the video cards but Win 7 does not make it easy to fix unlike XP. You have to download the DirectX SDK so that you can turn off hardware acceleration. That seemed to fix most of the issues for me. You do get a mouse cursor that leaves trails occasionally when paused. Otherwise it seems to be the best fix.
The Application Compatibility Toolkit can also fix it, and is more user friendly (and versatile) than the DirectX SDK. However, for the Infinity Engine games you don't have to rely on either of them and you don't have to watch the annoying mouse trail either:
This unfortunately didn't work for me. I either still get the weird pixelated boxes or if I mess with the video options the boxes go away but the spells start to stutter badly or sometimes just crash the game.
It can be short ot long depending on how inquisitive you are.
But I would expect to invest at least 20 hours, more likely 25+, unless you're trying to speedrun it.
edit: it should be noted that my playtime estimate might be a bit skewed, as I've played this like 4 times.
If you're relatively thorough and have a reasonable reading rate, you're probably looking at 35 hours or so. If you're not trying to talk to everyone and finish all the subquests you find, 25 hours is more likely.
I can't imagine finishing it in under 20 hours unless you're just skimming the text and already know exactly where to go.
I got the newsletter in my email at school and it took a bit of me to not squeal out loud. I am excited to grab Torment soon. I tried to get a copy a few months back but the online seller fucked up the shipment and I had to get a refund. This will be fun to finally play.
Also, now I can pray that GoG will pick up other games I've never played that everyone says are awesome. i.e. Baldurs Gate 2 and System Shock 2.

Practice Round, my blog where I talk (mostly) about comics.
There's a DVD edition, plus since it has no CD protection you're not breaking any laws by copying it to your HDD and running the game from it.
Uh, you're not breaking any laws by copying the CDs to your hard drive. You still have to have disc 1 in to start the game, you just don't have to swap.
I really enjoyed the Syberia games, but adventure is probably my favorite genre. I thought the atmosphere, story, and characters were all wonderful. I'd plan on getting both since they're basically two halves of the same story.
I'm loving Planescape itself in general so far, but I do find that it crashes every three or four loadscreens. I've tried XP compatibility mode, but for whatever reason whenever I load it up with that activated all of my saves are gone.
Also, spells slow it down to a crawl, and I was wanting to play as a mage. This game could've stood to have more tweaking from GOG, it seems.
Is there any difference between the GoG versions of Fallout 1/2/Tactics and the Fallout Trilogy retail set?
I'm thinking of snagging them off GoG, to support GoG and for convenience of an installer. The FTrilogy already doesn't need a disc after installation, though, and I'm finding it works perfectly in Win7.
Are the mods linked before necessary or is it fine straight from gog?
edit: This is Planescape:torment
Not really necessary. The game wasn't buggy or anything when it released. Most of the fix-pack stuff is adding in unimplemented stuff and a few tweaks to make things easier. The story works fine without them.
That said, you might still find the resolution / UI mods useful. And it's not like using the fix-packs are going to detract from anything, just make things a bit better.
last night finished the last of One Unit Whole Blood. Beat all 4 episodes, plasma pak expansion episode, and Cryptic Passage. Had a blast, just wish the source code could be released so we could get a fixed up/updated version of the game with much better mouse look/graphics and such.

Apparently in the vanilla game your companions' morale is reset every 8 game hours.
Playing through Planescape with all the mods. Never played it before, first time. It was a little slow to get into at first, but now I'm really liking it. Amazing atmosphere for a game as old as it is, reminds me of how atmospheric I remember Diablo 2 and others being back in the day.
GoG has their weekend sale up. The following titles are 50% off:
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Duke Nukem 3D : Atomic Edition
Incredible Machine Mega Pack, The
Interstate ’76 Arsenal, The
Jagged Alliance 2
Longest Journey, The
Myst: Masterpiece Edition
Psychonauts
Syberia
Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon
I already have Arcanum & Jagged Alliance on GoG & Psychonauts on Steam, but for $5 I'm definitely grabbing the Incredible Machine pack.

How do you turn on software mirroring?
It's in the video options of the actual game. Esc -> Video Options
Decent, if rather simplistic. If you're looking for an adventure game, you could do A LOT worse

My mouse leaves afterimages when it passes through the menus, but the obnoxious lag is gone now.

Nah, I'm playing it vanilla and it's just fine without.
Not even the widescreen mod?
Are you on a 15" CRT? O_o
No, 19" LCD.

Ok, well I would definitely recommend checking out the resolution mod at the very least.

Oh I did but I decided it didn't add much and I'd rather just play through it vanilla before I go adding shit to it.
I love how the note is written on graph paper. That's a great touch.

I'd go with the fixpack.

Well, other than always wanting to try it, but I've got to be thrifty with money.
