It sounds like a particularly scary strategy on smaller maps, especially if your opponent were to throw his SCV's into the mix as well. I wonder though, if a 1 gate fast expand would be able to transition into enough units to hold it off.

A 1-gate FE in PvT generally goes into a robo or a chargelots, so it's the same scenario -- it's just delayed slightly. I actually like this strategy quite a bit and have been trying to work it into my play. The difference involves relying on scouting information to determine when to get the robo. Socke and Huk have been doing this kind of thing more often lately.
anyone having trouble logging on to Bnet? I put in my account info and the box disappears but the one with the account name and portrait doesn't show up

I'm getting this too.
I'm taking solace in the fact that I am not alone.
10 extractor-trick to 11
11 overlord
11 spawning pool
15 extractor
16 queen (stop drones here)
18 overlord
18 roach warren
17 overlord (yes, two)
spawn-larva on queen when she pops
roach x7
It's very similar to the 5-roach rush, but you get 7 roaches out :45 earlier, which I can imagine is unholy strong, based on how many noobs my friend says he rolls with 5RR.
Has anyone seen or tried this build yet? I'm curious to know just how "in the wild" this is.
I think it has problems with falling into local maxima because someone posted a 10 Pool build that got 50 Drones faster than anything else, - according to the program - but I tried it and a 14 Hatch was just plain better.

That sounds wrong. The economic builds I got after a couple of days runtime where all hatch first late pool.

I doubt he'd run it for a couple of days, and either way, that's the concept of a local maxima: one run settles on what appears to be the best solution as moving slightly away from it in any direction is clearly worse, but there are actually better solutions elsewhere. The program uses a genetic algorithm which is non-deterministic, so you never know for sure that the solution you get is the best one.

You can set how many processes you want it to run simultaneously though. After several billions of games simulated you can assume the build is fairly close to optimal.
if anyone wants to talk about strategies that don't involve rushing roaches, I've been looking for some Protoss strats that differ a bit from the usual
basically I hate 2gate/robo and I want it to die, but I don't know of many great alternatives in PvT or PvP.
I know what other strategies can work, but it seems like starting out PvP with a 4gate or 3gate/exp will just be stomped by the other player's colossus build, and since most PvP is essentially a colossi arms race anyway, doing something like an FE delays the robo and colossi production to the point where you're going to be at a disadvantage.
I don't know, maybe I'm wrong and these are just perceptions born out of shitty play by myself and my opponents, but I've felt like doing anything but 2gate/robo in PvP or PvT means putting myself at a significant risk compared to just using that builds.
is there anything that feels a little more solid and less contingent on squeezing out that colossus in the early game? how is kcdc's PvT FE working in this post patch world? does a PvP 2gate/stargate carrier build actually work or is it just a pipedream strat that wins against shitty players who push late and don't know how to build sentries and stalkers?

I just had a 2v2 where me and my teammate just massed marines and marauders. What does the terran opponent type right before he leaves?
"fu noob tactic"
Ed. Trus is having trouble as well. Guess it's not only EU then.
Excuse me- first of all, it's not a tactic, it's a strategy.

Using genetic algorithms to find Starcraft 2 build orders
In short, some dude wrote a genetic algorithm evaluator for SC2 Zerg build orders and came up with the following:

Fake boxer's game one is just ridiculous. I swear he has 4 hands.
keep watching
Yeah, it has very long load times and various screens and now it won't even show me the quick game options.
EDIT: Apparently I'm only allowed to play FFA now.
Found one stream that's reshowing them but it's laggy as fuck and stops every 2 seconds.
EDIT: Oh wait, it really is fucked. When I try to search for a game, I get this error:
They know you've been maphacking bro

Seems like everyone either 6-pools or goes for massive roach pushes right around the time ling speed finishes
Your options are therefore limited to "build more roaches than the other guy, win"
7RR!
the 4RR
you are gonna love this
been getting that since midnight Eastern Time.
"logout" will fix the lock issue, but i started like 5 games and only 1 went to completion.
Joe's Stream.
The key is to rush with larva.
Our first game is now available for free on Google Play: Frontier: Isle of the Seven Gods
