Fat Acceptance is stupid if it means what I think it means

Ideally it shouldn't mean "Gorge away! Being fat is alright and there is nothing wrong with it! What health problems?" But I think there is some merit in trying to prevent the overweight becoming acceptable targets for ridicule.

No one deserves to be ridiculed and made the target of "socially acceptable" or "justified" harassment. It is not okay. But that's already happening, and starting a movement that supports fat people in being okay with being fat can't help but inevitably in some ways support the idea of not trying to change that. Obesity is a disease. One that people should be able to live with comfortably only as long as it takes them to rid themselves of it.

Eh, the reason I'm okay with my body and I'm able to do things like go shopping (which required me to tell Pony my pants size, which I nearly died over) is because of certain branches of Fat Acceptance.

So I don't hate on it too much. But a lot of it is really ridiculous.

No offense Mr "Lead Designer" but this is what you should have been providing for PC users ****ing MONTHS ago, not 3 weeks before release and shove us off an old press build of a section of the game that isn't even representitive in part or whole of what the game is like.

I'm glad there's this video to watch, cause compared to what you've done with DA:O you've given us almost nothing to whet our appetite like you did with the first game, and frankly it's insulting.
oh man why do I do this

In an ideal world, "Fat Acceptance" would be combatting your first sentence alone, and maybe provide solidarity for overweight people to work together to help deal with it. I agree trying to get people to "accept" fat people like we would accept gays is not the healthiest (pun intended) way to go about it.

so, assuming that the time 'it takes' passes them by- they don't care, and don't attempt to change

do you then think that they oughtn't be able to "live with [it] comfortably"

like, if they don't care, is it then okay to make them uncomfortable

Like pretty much all acceptance movements, Fat Acceptance started out with a good notion (fight shaming and discrimination against fat people) and then it turned into Fat Pride.

That's where acceptance movements lose their way, usually, when they stop just being about fighting shame and mockery and start being about being proud.

There's a reason pride is the deadliest sin. :P

So I just tried the Rift beta. First impression is that it is a fun game with a few different, cool things but it does feel very much like WoW.

It is fun. Give it time, it plays more like WAR than WoW I find. I mean the difference is super subtle. But you will notice it the more you play.
