so I saw the love me nice people over the weekend at an indie comic con and told them how i made their comic into a sig. this was apparently known to them, much to the excitement of all. I got a couple sketches of mac, one with crown, one drunk.
also I got a sketch from the Atomic Robo dude of Robo as a mariachi, which will be tattooed sometime soon
!!!
Show the robo dude mariachi picture!! Also that's rad, I'm really hoping the love me nice people will show up to SDCC.
they're local to Texas, so I dunno. I'll take a picture of the sketches when I get home, damn good value for a (twenty) dollar (bill)
on the other "kids with magic" is no longer my bag
sell this one to me
kids attend a strange boarding school built on science and magic which is built next to a mysterious forest ruled by the nature spirit Coyote. there is a tense truce between the Forest and the Court over conflict that took place in the past. our heroine, Antimony Carver, investigates things like ghosts and captive dragons and students who are being harassed by astral spiders. her best friend Kat builds robots and her stuffed animal is currently possessed by a cranky fox spirit.

It's pretty decent I think
the premise and some of the story elements definitely bear some resemblance to Harry Potter but the actual story doesn't seem all that similar
I think almost everybody gets the HP vibe from it if they haven't read it. British schoolchildren in magic (?) school and all that
it's one of the few webcomics I actually go out and check these days, it just seems like a part-time webcomicker doing his level best to tell a story
That would actually be a rather well backed fear. Otters can be incredibly vicious. In captivity, they kill any bird that comes into their enclosure. My roommate has seen them decimate big ass turkey vultures on many occasions
my dog was swimming in a river up in Washington and got attacked by otters! they almost drowned her. my hillbilly uncle dennis dove in to save her and got bit the fuck up too. it was pretty wild.
but bigger than cheeses is a shitty webcomic, nobody wants to take the effort to re-host it
and serioiusly anyone who makes webcomics should support hotlinking, it's the easiest kind of free promotion for your site
and for next to no money I get unlimited bandwidth from my hosting providers anyway, it's not actually going to cost these clowns any money anyway
fuck you, and fuck your anti-hotlinking message
hack the planet
Ya, I don't mind hotlinking at all. There's a couple reasons it's a good thing.
1) If I ever change a comic due to an error, I can be sure they'll get the same fix so something isn't conveyed improperly in perpetuity.
2) It means they haven't changed it and my URL/name is in tact unless they have some fancy system just for screwing my copyright notices and URL, which is very unlikely. As you said, this is free advertising. If someone sees my comic on some forum or blog and like it, they'll absolutely want to see more.
3) If I check my analytics on just a particular image, I can see exactly which site is hosting that image, and if it's some undiscovered gathering of fans of my work, I can step in and say hi, or if it's a blogger who is a fan of my work, I can somehow show him/her my appreciation. I wouldn't know about them if they just right clicked -> save as'd.
Also, right now I'm paying $5 a month for hosting that is unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space. I am not worried at running out any time soon.

Um, yes? It’s not like I can’t read my own t-shirt.

I have not, gonna look into it though.
I will warn you the art is pretty rough for the first few chapters.

no wonder Next Town Over's URL was always so familiar
I am convinced that his criteria for switching to emoticon faces is the inability to render every last spoke in Annie's irises
She had a booth at ECCC and someone handed me a leaflet with the URL... I couldn't resist.
