you guys, there was already a ton of non-conversational shit rolling around
the forum before all the likes and dislikes had conversational masterpieces such as: limed for truth, empty quotes, "agreed," quotes +ftfy, quotes + "you win one internet!!" and other such nonsense
and there are a ton of posts that I don't feel like writing a full response to, or posts that really warrant the time to respond to that I'd like to acknowledge in some way, and this is another way of doing so
I'm not sure I should really trust the opinions of anybody in this thread. They're all a bunch of Level 1s. Can we get some Level 2s to come weigh in on this? They know what's up.

Geebs has a point. It should probably be limited to positive reinforcement though.
I'm not really settled on the major changes yet. I guess I have a negative opinion of the current space/layout issues, but that's probably a given while things are being worked on. Did anyone mention that the thread starter column on the index is browser dependent at the moment? Or that the agree and disagree badges on avatars below posts are nearly indistinguishable?
looks like the bug report forum/the circus aren't visible on the main forums page but they're still visible in a dropdown menu thingy when you start up a new thread

That stuff had already become practically non-existent, because we all realized that shit is just white noise. Now we're encouraging white noise?
I'm not claiming some doom-and-gloom, collapse of forum society thing. It's just intrusive, unnecessary, and annoying. Hide it away behind a "post options" tab if you really want to keep it, but as-is it's just useless clutter.
what happens if a ton of people all like/dislike a post? is it going to be this huge block of avatars like the bottom of the threadlist is right now?
Most pages that have this eventually revert to a "and <number> others" when too many people like a post.
I imagine this does the same.
only dislike I have with the new system is the "disagree" button. while I think having a way to simply "agree" with a post is not a bad thing, I think disagreement should require actually posting. being able to simply click and stack somebody's negatives seems...like a bad idea?
especially with dislikes shown inline with the post.
Otherwise I think the badges and everything are cool.
Posts
yeah it's pretty damn rare
and then when they do they get made fun of for it
but javen posts in the other subforums a lot more than you or I do I think

neither of those buttons are functional for me (OSX chrome)

This has actually been a known issue for awhile.
I disagree.

I actually like the new smaller quote/report/awesome buttons over the old ones, I just wish they were on the right side not taking up extra space
