I was going to make a post about it being spelled welch, but then I wanted to see if it really did refer to the Welsh, and it does! It's like saying you got gypped. And now people do spell it welsh, since the ch spelling was really old.

I do wonder how much of a shift is gonna happen, and how temporary it is. There's a bit of movement in the gallup polls towards Romney, but Obama is still flying high; the news cycle seems to have moved on from the debate pretty quickly given the unexpected jobs numbers, and I honestly wonder how many people are still giving the debate consideration. I have a feeling that Romney's gonna get a 1 or 2 point bounce at best, but it'll tail off rapidly, perhaps by next Thursday.

Rasmussen always polls more strongly in favor of the Republican candidate than the Democratic candidate. Nate Silver has gone into the topic plenty of times (like here, here and here).
