Well, they actually did it. I almost can't believe it. It's hard to tell who struck first, but they found the mangled corpses of the Hammerer and the Militia Commander this morning. I always knew there were tensions. The nobles get a little... demanding of the populace at times, and the commoners have a few rabble-rousers among them. Looks like things must have finally hit a boiling point. I doubt there is any going back now, I can hear them screaming for more blood already.
To top things off, these nutty dwarves couldn't have picked a worse time to start a civil war! Winter is just setting in, and the nearby stream has frozen over, killing our only source of fresh water. There have been reports of goblins operating in the area, and with the militia preoccupied spilling dwarven blood, I doubt we could mount an effective defense.
I did a bit of chatting around this morning, nobody is even sure what happened to the rest of the nobles. They seem to have disappeared when a group of migrants showed up this morning. If they're trying to hide among the commoners, I doubt they could hide for long. I don't think any of them have worked a full day in their life! Still, that might not be the weirdest news I've heard. A peasant came to me this morning, swearing to Armok himself that he woke up last night to find someone standing over him, who fled as soon as he tried to get a look.
I'm going out now. I have a feeling it's going to be a long day.
