is there any advantage to using safety razors? i have some gift money from work to the art of shaving and can't decide if i want to throw down
otherwise it is the ivory handled shaving cream brush
Takes longer to shave but it's a little gentler on your face because the razor is sharper and takes less passes
Also the razor blades are cheaper. You'll cut up your face a couple of times and it will take longer to shave because you have to be more careful though

The fascination with straight razors always struck me as kind of affected.
Kind of like all my 20-something friends who absolutely love a fine Scotch
oh he went there!
affectation is a tool used to get past the barriers of acquiring legitimate tastes
i didn't enjoy liquor until i forced myself to do it and was able to overcome the powerful alcohol flavour

You got a dry Martini, you thinking you're cool
I'll take your place at the bar, I smack you off your stool
I'll down a '40 dog in a single gulp
And if you got beef, you'll get beat to a pulp

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it.
it should be an official fallacy.
the "no true scotch, man" fallacy.

for the record i don't think people fake it, I just think that they acquire it for reasons having to do with desperately wanting to be the masculine ideal they see sold to them in the culture
a while back my ex and i did a cider braise for chicken, but it was over a bed of parsnips
parsnips braise very well
I find root vegetables turn out really well if you just crockpot them from the get-go, which from what I understand is not really braising.
So I'm not sure whether actually braising would do noticeably better.
ehh, crockpot/slow cooker cooking is basically braising. you use a dry heat to sear or brown the food (usually meat) and then cook it slowly in added liquid at a low temperature to break down tougher tissues.
if anything braising is a broad category that includes slow cooking/pot roasting/etc.

What was that French sounding whiskey y'all liked so much?
Like a PR?
Usually students, paid by the night to distribute club tickets and flyers around bars? That sort of thing?

Is braising like roasting? Coz roasted Mediterranean vegetables, especially whole garlic cloves, are great in a bunch of things.
A gratin, for example.
My facial hair is thick and a bit curly. Normal razors don't cut close enough for me to look like I've actually shaved, and they create ingrown hairs.
So safety razors at a minimum; straight razors if I really want to look clean-shaven.
Good news. I always wanted to braise something! But I got into cooking after I got out of meat.
The grain of my beard reverses halfway down my neck
It could be that, since shaving against the grain always leads to my skin exploding with rash
Fine! You are excused.
