I don't think not having heard of The Lonely Island is nearly as unimaginable as people here seem to think it is
They have had hundreds of millions of youtube views for their videos that were all over the internet, threads on this very forum, and years of appearances on SNL that also featured some of the biggest pop stars in the world.
I hadn't heard of them, then I looked them up on Youtube and realized I had seen some of their videos and didn't know what they were called. I just thought of them as "Those guys from SNL who do videos." Now you are telling me that they are something else beside the guys who do music videos for SNL...

I'd heard people mention Dick in a Box and Like a Boss off-hand but SNL isn't big here, it was the thread for Turtleneck and Chain that introduced me to them. Watching I'm on a Boat and Jack Sparrow for the first time was especially magical.
But the bottom line is that even if you hadn't heard of them, there's no better time than the present to go through their stuff since a lot of it is great.
If you love any movie, and they have the Criterion version, get it
They basically restore movies as best as humanly possible and have tons of in-depth interviews on the making of the film, essays, great packaging, etc.
mainly it's meant to imply that he wants an edition with lots of features and commentaries and interviews and other content that would only interest you if you're big fan of the movie
The deleted scenes are pretty great, especially because Al explicitly says they are bad and deleted for a reason. Instead of just throwing them on there, he made them really entertaining by talking you through them.
He brings up something in that interview that now has me thinking
Is Mandatory Fun not only the first Weird Al album to hit #1, but the first comedy album ever?
Like I don't even know if Bill Cosby or Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor ever did that with any of their albums, mostly because I think people just went and saw the movies

Allan Sherman had one in the '60s
Mandatory Fun is the first one since

Before they were mentioned in this thread I had not heard of them.
I have to assume someone's already made some kind of "Being Al Yankovich" thing. Maybe he goes inside his own head and everything is normal.

It's just not likely that you haven't heard them.

still, I appreciate it either way
I love it when things like this happen to people and they stay humble about it.

What does a Criterion version even mean?
Double the price, some new menus and maybe a few interviews with industry critics.
