Race the Sun is a perfect little racer. Good learning curve, sublime music, suffers from one-more-time-itis. It's great.

It manages to be both soothing and frustrating at once.

Focus Home Interactive Weekend - I recommend Faery, Another World, and Contrast. Is R.A.W. any good?

R.A.W. is pretty mediocre. It's a bland ARPG. You'd be better off playing one of the other many good ARPGs available on Steam.

But for the price, it won't be a waste of money.

So I was super excited when I found out Shadow Man is on Steam. Bought it immediately.

Oh rose-colored glasses, how easily you shatter.

I would love to see a remake of this game though.

Did we settle on Serious Sam 3 BFE for Friday night gaming this week?

Relatedly, remember that Serious Sam 3 BFE is still $4 on Steam right now, even though it's no longer showing as the deal of the day on the main store page.

    EDIT:

    signature.png

@chuck steak‌ wins! Check your email (and please mark the gift as received when you have a moment.)

10 more minutes to grab SS3:BFE for $4 (link above). Get in on the Friday night action!

EDIT: What the fuck? I hauled out my Collector's Edition DVD. The "Theatrical Release 1986" has Ripley's daughter stuff and all the sentry turret filler. Where's my hard, lean original movie?! Damn, they're going to make me dig out my VHS copy...

Awesome, thanks! We are hosting my wifes family for thanksgiving tomorrow, but I should still be able to pop in for some friday game night action.

Yes, it's a really strange tier choice (unless you are actually getting a total of 6 copies with the $17 tier).
EDIT: I just checked its Steam page and they have a 6 pack, so maybe that's the case.

Repost! Still looking for the first submission so your odds are good
I just got an email from Isthereanydeal.com letting me know that Damned is $4.00 with voucher code VBHGBM-JS2VN9-0J5OFM.
This seems like a thing people should get for Friday Night Gaming or other things.

In fact, how about a contest!

PM me the damndest thing you can think of. Seriously, whatever that means to you.
I will choose the awesomest entry (could be funny or scary or totally offensive or whatever) and the winner gets a free copy of Damned

I'll close the contest around 3PM EST Friday. Let's get some Damn entries!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GFwyNr4o4sM

Damned: A Randomized Online Horror Game

    What is Damned?
Damned is a randomized online horror game for up to 5 players (4 survivors and 1 monster). You’ll be able to play as one of four people trapped in different haunted places (hotels, hospitals, etc).

As a survivor your main objective will be finding your way out, as well as helping your friends get out too. You’ll often find yourself on the edge, hearing and seeing ghostly things, trying to find keys and items to help in your escape. And sometimes you’ll find yourself running desperately from a monster, who’s there only to find and kill you and your friends.

You’ll also be able to play as the monster. The game will feature different monsters, each one unique in its gameplay and hunting style.

What kind of horror game is Damned?

Damned explores the sense of being defenseless against a powerful supernatural force. The survivors can’t directly affect the monster in any way. When it’s there to get you, your only chance is to run and hide.

This perception of being defenseless is very strong, primal and terrifying, it builds up anxiety and makes you really scared, fearing any unexplained noise or movement.

This is how Damned creates horror in a multiplayer game session, and we believe it to be super effective! (tested and approved!)

Why is Damned a randomized game?

Every stage in Damned is randomized:

    Almost all the objects in a stage may or may not appear;

    The item system is fully random too, randomizing which item will appear in the game, and where it'll be;

    The way to win a match as a survivor is also randomized;

Even the stage may trigger random events to scare the survivors inside.

Yes, it's a really strange tier choice (unless you are actually getting a total of 6 copies with the $17 tier, but that seems unlikely).

Actually, it is quite possible that you do get 4 copies at the highest tier, on top of the 2 copies you get at the $8 tier, for a total of 6 copies.

Edit: that's probably the case. Since you can buy a 6pack from steam.

Alright, is anyone seriously, actually, really messing about with Artemis: Bridge simulator?
It looks fun, but also...I'm in the Euro-zone and so the actual chance of 5 player co-op is low. Will anyone play it at times I might be awake?

Ok, I've just played about an hour of Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure, so as requested by @chuck steak and @DaringDirk here are my thoughts. It is pretty cute, and I think a lot of little girls would have fun with it. There is a lot of pretty princess dress-up. You get to pick your character's appearance, hairstyle, dress (and colors), jewelry, etc. You start out with some basic options, but as you play, you can collect crystals, which let you buy new clothes, hairstyles, jewelry, furniture for your room, and flowers for your garden. (Yes, you have a room you can decorate and a magical flower garden to take care of.) I've already changed my hairstyle and dress at least three times. It's not just realistic colors, either. My current look includes bubblegum pink hair and purple eyes.

As for the game itself, you are the apprentice to the Fairy Godmother and oops, you've just turned the garden sprites into imps, which fly around, causing trouble. You can clear them out of an area by using your magic wand to zap them back into sprites. After clearing the initial area, you gain access to a few different fairytale worlds (Beauty & the Beast, Little Mermaid, Tangled, and Cinderella). The imps have also gotten into those worlds, and the princesses and other various townspeople need your help dealing with the havoc (since no one else can see the imps). This involves a lot of zapping imps with your wand, although it's interspersed with other little activities and games. Use your twirl magic near these trees to make them healthy again, catch the falling books, etc.

After about an hour, I'd gotten through the introductory section and the first chapter (out of two, I think?) in one of the princess's worlds. So, it seems like there's a pretty decent amount of game here, especially for the younger players. The biggest negative for me so far is your character's voice, which is remarkably nasal and whiny. You're also stuck moving around with the arrow keys (which is probably not a big deal for those not already used to using wasd for everything) and you can't mess around with the graphics at all. Of course, it's a game aimed at younger players, so they probably don't want to offer too many options which might get confusing for kids who don't really know what they're changing.

It really does seem to be a niche game. I could see it being a lot of fun but it's kind of like those Murder mystery party games. I had a couple of them in the box but I never once played them because it was too hard to get people together.

I really hope that some day the Deluxe version of AssCreed III dips below 12 bucks. Mainly because I've heard it's not as good as the earlier ones, but I'll still want all of it, DLC included.

I'm sure the fact that I got the earlier ones for 5 bucks a pop is probably the most problematic part. Then again, the older games are all 3+ years old; perhaps it'll see a price drop come 2015? ;)

Eschalon continues slowly. It feels like the kind of game where you're meant to start several characters until you get down a good skill/stats/equipment spread, though I just keep saving every couple of minutes so I can reload if it all goes sideways (which it has the propensity to do).

This sounds like it could be a good game to introduce her to mouse and keyboard controls, or if she can't figure out the movement, would it be viable for me to move around and her to use the mouse to click stuff? All of the customization stuff she would definitely be into though. I'll probably end up getting this as soon as it is on sale.

    Woot! Thanks Antoshka! <3<3<3

So begins the legend of the newest Disney princess... Pixelina. Maybe that's why she wants all the stuff about cupcakes- every princess has to have a signature musical number, right? So when do we get to hear it?

Pixelina is the name of my berserker in TERA.

    Just sayin.

Someone here in Steam thread named her actually. I believe it was @Dirtyboy.

    Yep, it was him.

I wanted to do something fun with the idea of a new Disney princess, but I tend to modify songs to be inappropriate for children which wouldn't be very Disney-esque, so I outsourced and got this awesome response from my friend Stephane regarding the newest Disney princess, Pixelina. We don't have a tune for it yet, but @ybnormalman‌ suggested a Saturday Morning style cartoons tune.

She can beat you at Tetris,
    Or whip up cupcakes.
    Anything pink,
    You know that she'll take.
She can run a whole kingdom,
    But would rather just game.
    And everyone knows her name...

    Pixelina, coming your way!
Bringing adventure and fun to your day!
She'll light up your life with her sparkle and smile!
Come with Pixelina and play for awhile!

You actually barely use the mouse at all, apart from some of the mini-games. M is your magic wand key and N is your twirl magic key. Spacebar is your jump and interact-with-things key. Still, you could probably do it the same way where you move around and she uses the magic.

Ripley is one of the original lady badasses of cinema. Also there's a part where she's running around in her space undies, so that movie has something for everyone.

Well, whatever it takes to get your attention I guess.

Alien: Isolation throws a completely gratuitous panty shot at the player in the first 30 seconds of the game, too.

Without seeing it your description does make me think it's probably both a "look gratuitous panty shot" and a "homage to the original movie." Bit of column A, bit of Column B.

Just go full Lethal Weapon and have him roll out of bed nude.

I am sure that's exactly what it is.

It was still a bit jarring to realize that the protagonist apparently sleeps (in whatever suspended animation the Alien universe uses during space travel) in just tight white undies under a glass dome while other crew members are going about their business in the same room (for how long?). Why not shorts, even something like bicycle shorts? I couldn't rationalize it as anything but "hey let's throw in an upclose panty shot right away while we can handwave it as a sleep outfit."

I mean, I'm not upset about it or anything. It's just panties. And I'm one of the first to defend chainmail bikinis, jiggle physics, and all sorts of skimpy funwear in games. For reasons. But this just stuck out like a great big sore thumb and felt "off" somehow.

Actually, I sorta figured the gratuitous stuff would be more up your alley. Aren't you the one with all those risque Skyrim mods?
