Whenever a thread is being moderated and posts have been edited, how often are the original contents of posts considered in the outcome?
For me, it depends on how egregious the original contents were in breaking policy or being a dick. Saying something like "FUCK YOU, YOU SHITHEAD" and then following up with "sorry, I take it back" in person would probably still result in some shit, so why not on the internet?
On the other end of the spectrum, posting an image that breaks the size limit, then editing it out is a reasonable "my bad" situation.
For me it also depends on if I saw it before the edit and/or how much time had elapsed since the original.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

Meat pies are good but fill a completely different role from fruit pies. Sometimes I want a sweet pie to follow my meal and sometimes I want a savory pie to be my meal. I feel like directly comparing the two is silly.
I've always liked the joke about how when asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world, one of them, I think John, said he wasn't even the best drummer in The Beatles. Assuming it was all in good fun, of course, because Ringo seems like a nice enough guy, and I'd hate to think they were really that mean to him.

It depends how quickly they were edited, and if the intent of the editing was that they were sorry or that they're trying to hide what they did. If the problem is severe enough we won't give a fuck about the edit. In 95% of cases people edit posts because they regret making them and are sorry, and we leave it at that.
