The worst case scenario when contacting moderators, I've found, is deaf ears (blind eyes?)
like you're just ignored and not responded to
that has happened to me on more than one occasion, where I've contacted a moderator over getting kicked from a thread or an infraction or something and had them just straight up refuse to respond or engage me
I wouldn't consider that bullying, per se
It's not especially helpful
but it's also not really their obligation? like they don't owe me an explanation or engagement or something
it would've been nice, but whatever
that's sort of the worst that's happened, just being ignored
I can't conclusively say that this is what happened to you, but sometimes I just straight up don't see PMs for days
I check the forums mostly mobile these days, and often for periods of about thirty seconds. There are more times than I would like in which I get a PM, intend to respond, and then just flat out forget, for which I apologize.
I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.
When a user gets infracted and there's a notification/PM recieved, I've had an instance where IIRC there was both a notification and a separate message/PM
Is that message generated as part of the infraction, or is that a separate message that you're expecting or inviting users to respond to?
Some days Blue wonders why anyone ever bothered making numbers so small; other days she supposes even infinity needs to start somewhere.
Because you were being a dickbag, and moderators are allowed to point that out. It's part of our moderation policy. I'm not interested in any policy that causes you to think the way you have been behaving throughout this thread is acceptable. It isn't. The more you post, the less interested I am in creating the kind of community you would enjoy.
Well it is proving to be incredibly hard to not be a "dickbag" when you seemingly ignore the posts that are upset about the way things are run. I have been nothing but polite since last night, and yet I am still being completely disregarded. This is the exact thing that I wanted to bring up, albeit however poorly I may have done so. I am being constantly told in this thread how approachable the mods are, how easy it is to just bring up any issues with them. They are nice and understanding. This is clearly not the case when I do so and the response is a simple "go away."
Again, I want to reiterate. People are quitting the forums because of your actions in this thread. I am not exaggerating. Do you care about that, or are you happy with how things are right now? I do want to stress I am being completely sincere with this post, and just because the question is difficult does not mean I'm messing with you.

When an infraction is generated by a mod, it's intended that there be a reason for said infraction supplied by the mod in question. This is supposed to generate a PM to the user explaining what the infraction is and why. That would be the place to respond to the mod in question if you wanted to discuss that infraction.
Infractions assigned by Geth work differently afaik and I think you would need to start a new PM discussion for those.
For what ever reason a few days ago I thought about that YouTube video geebs made about spore where he made an animorph alien and the comments devolved into a really hilarious argument about animporh aliens. I couldn't find it though.

Who quit?
I feel like he's been 100% upfront here
It's been a lighthearted and informative thread
If they didn't say they were leaving I'm not about to point them out.
And I'd redirect the question: informative for who? It certainly seems like the only questions being satisfactorily answered or discussed are those that are completely innocuous.

You said you didn't like people getting kicked from threads without a warning.
The mods said they weren't always going to issue a warning if they felt the behavior was inappropriate enough.
I mean what do you want at this point?
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

Me. It's been informative for me. I have enjoyed the thread thusfar, complaints about moderator policy notwithstanding.
No, you haven't. You've been petulant, dismissive and rude. Whether you think you were rude is immaterial. I'm the one who decides whether I'm going to speak with you or not.

Did you notice that no one else got told that? That everyone else interacted perfectly healthily for the entire thread?
Again, I want to reiterate. People are quitting the forums because of your actions in this thread. I am not exaggerating. Do you care about that, or are you happy with how things are right now?
People "leave" communities every day. Some spurious scaremongering about mysterious people who are quitting the forums is not going to get me to come to Jesus. I read your posts. I responded to them. I do not owe you the response that you want. I do not owe you anything. Until you understand that, we have nothing to discuss. Everyone else who participated in this thread managed to do so in a manner befitting an adult. I'm not going to be engaging with you any further.
I know that the discussion of threadkicking is a hot spot right now, but I want to take it in a slightly different direction (also, I think it is a good thing)
Really early in this thread you expressed disdain for behavior in the Webcomics Thread, and I think a lot of that has to do with specific comics that are posted--it is actually kind of happening right now. As far as I can tell the thread's "rules" (don't post what you don't like, don't be a dick about comics other people like) just kind of coalesced as a community response to people posting Least I Could Do for yuks. I may be totally wrong about that origin. Would the mods be interested in kicking certain webcomics from the thread? I don't really want to name any names, of course.

Tube that's a great response
I appreciate you admitting you can't give everything everyone wants but being super cordial about it

I don't have the knowledge about the subject matter to curate the thread in that way I'm afraid. Other mods may have different opinions, I've long since washed my hands of the webcomic thread.

I figured that might be the case, which is why I wanted to ask all mods
Thanks a ton for this thread, duder. You're an inspiration to my level of patience and amount of forethought given to situations.

my favorite character in once upon a time is your contempt for the show

I stopped watching after they brought in the Oz stuff, so...is Belle still around?
And they need to add whatever character needs to be added to end the goddamned show.
Or Darth Vader.
Fuck you, Geebs.
Ducky, because I am pretty sure the actress playing her died at a young age and it makes me sad.
Beowulf
Rumpelstiltskin is definitely the second best character imo

I feel that they should add simba the lion to the cast and he should be played by dominic monaghan
i'll anime that!

I think this might have to do with Jurassic World?
