I bet Clinton plays a mean DVA.

And has been doing so before the big buff.

Looking at political threads from 8 years ago, the difference in gendered language was pretty surprising.

I guess we've all grown up a bit.

Ten years ago the forum probably would've voted Trump.

I went back to see how terrible I was once and it was pretty bad. I don't recommend it.

The forums were bad 10 years ago, but I don't think they were "vote trump!" bad

Consider that voting trump would have been very ironic and hilarious

True, but the difference is I don't see Trump pulling an Obama because that would take preparation.

Edit: I am trying to be relaxed as a result from the debate, the fact that Hillary won so handily is relaxing to me.

Also Obama was surprised by Romney's blatant lying and that he ran to the middle with the lies. Clinton didn't do anything that Trump shouldn't have known she'd do. Hell his debate strategy now is to attack her more because he doesn't realize his attacks outside of nafta were the worst thing for him.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

The NAFTA thing is fine, but if she'd stop name dropping Bill it would be less impactful. Also, outside of his base it isn't going to move the needle.

That whole thing was Clinton talking reasonably about how to meet the challenges of our time with an eye to the future vs Trump word vomiting buzzwords to get those 5 guys in the back to whoop it up.

Oh god. Immediately after the debate last night the #debatenight and #debates tags were all HRC, but now they are 100% filled with trump supporters crowing about how trump won, the media is biased, and hillary is a shrew.

It's great news, they are reduced to lying to people who literally watched the opposite. If anything it'll turn off undecideds. "Uhh you said he was smart and shit, but he came across like a rambly jack ass, are you dumb?"

I think the reason why "Donald didn't prepare?" is because he doesn't have good work ethic and like, say what you will, nobody calls Clinton "lazy".

I think that there would have been a few people who thought it was fun to pretend they were supporting trump

I don't think honest support would be a dominant or widespread position; even ten years ago, this was a pretty left-leaning place

    TRUE

These stories are inaccurate, but not for the reason you might think. Police records indicate that Donald Trump actually consumed twelve souls that evening, not four.

seems like an excellent and valuable use of the site name to me

Also Trump is capable of changing his "positions" but not really his strategy. He's not smart enough or dedicated enough to prepare for a debate.

I dunno. I don't like saying trump is dumb or he has a short attention span or whatever.

I mean I am both those things and granted I'm not running for president but I think you need to have more respect for the danger the man poses and being dismissive of his intelligence seems unwise.

I don't think he's unintelligent though. But that's beside the point.

Also that's true but it isn't worth associating those things.

He's not dangerous because he's stupid. He's dangerous because he believes the heinous things he does.

The attention span thing isn't really a knock at his intelligence at all but it is a significant weakness in a debate, as last night demonstrated. The man literally could not stay focused on a topic and his meandering made him look really bad. It also probably contributed to his lack of preparedness because he was strongest at the beginning when he was sticking to solid, GOP-esque talking points but he clearly was not prepared for deviating from that because that's when he started to fall apart. Obviously we shouldn't assume he won't try to fix those problems, of course, but as he currently stands, it's a real liability.

So this was a legit rout?

I would say it wasnt 100% a rout. Trump was somewhat together for the first... 10 minutes, and but then he just fell apart. Clinton was just dunking all night long though. So like 80% rout.
I think there's just no good way for her to talk about NAFTA, we can only hope he doesn't catch on for the second debate.

Despite the primaries, no one gives a shit about trade. 85% of voters have no idea what TPP is.

People do care but it's a real difficult issue to understand so it's a much harder talking point. The effects that any one trade deal can have are super complicated.

Actually, I don't think he believes the heinous things he does. I think it's the exact opposite. I don't think he believes anything. I think he has such a disdain for facts, for reality, that he literally doesn't think it matters if what he says is true or not and also that he assumes other people are lying constantly as well.

I agree that insulting him solely on his capabilities can be a bit of a problem.

I think it probably stems from knowing the threat he poses, and wanting to find assurance that he won't win. "He is incapable of learning from this debate" is a path to "he won't learn from this debate", which is what we want to happen.

Still, one should watch what one says, even when using things to insult scumbags like trump.

Oh also also after the whole debate I give Lester Holt a charitable 5/10. Honestly I think the debate was moderated poorly but I also don't know what reporter working for a major news outlet would be allowed to be forceful enough to get Trump (And, let's be fair, to a much lesser extent Clinton) to totally behave and stick to debate topics. Like, you could do it, but I don't know who'd allow you to do it. (And Trump would probably just walk off the stage.)
