Discusses setting up a local Steam (or other through https://github.com/steamcache/generic ) cache so when you or someone else is trying to download the same game again it should go through the local cache first instead of hitting the online CDNs. I won't be setting one up myself, but I thought it was a neat idea for those who play multi-GB sized games together
Dangit, didn't mean to stay up this late but Renowned Explorers is addictive stuff. Finally wiped the smirk off of Rivaleux without wiping out my team for a change.
Renowned Explorers hits that simple but difficult curve with plenty of humor sprinkled in. Using moods and non violent (though violence is an option) to outwit/befriend enemies is a nice change of pace from the usual kill them all mindset. Case in point, the final boss fight was basically decided by a young girl magician scaring the pants off of Dracula. All in all, highly recommended and fun diversion I'll come back to.
Thanks again to @akajaybay for gifting me Renowned Explorers with the More to Explore DLC!
Some pictures:
Styx: Shards of Darkness is looking good, and also has co-op? I may need to get back to playing that.
Anyone else waiting for Styx: Shards of Darkness to drop in the morning?
I really enjoyed the hell out of the first game, and this one looks to be even better, apparently with less reusing of levels?
Yyyyup
There's also a new launch trailer. (fair warning this trailer doesn't exactly break the "questionable choices of song for a trailer" trope)
<snip for space>
Ah yes, I did see that one. Apparently the first game had a hip-hop-ish launch trailer too, so at least they're consistent.
I prefer the song in the gameplay cinematic trailer... seems like it might've been for Europe? It has a PEGI rating on it anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dQ4a2fhvME
Shake this shadow.
fakeEdit: The song is This Shadow by Marc Scibilia, seems like this version of the trailer was also used as the PS4 trailer in the US.
Pathologic's "demo" is up. It's more of a short spinoff game than a demo, but if you want to know what some of the hubbub is about this weird ass game, it's a good starting point.

Yikes. Just the trailer (with no sound) is nightmare fuel.

Overall impressions seem to be that the game basically doubles down on the good points from Styx but doesn't really otherwise take any risks, particularly with regard to the shortcomings of the first one. So essentially great stealth/exploration, sound and level design. Somewhat better AI/controls and way more level variety but questionable voice acting for not-Styx and basically nonexistent combat.
(and yes they also doubled down on the "humans and elves are dicks" aspect of the universe's lore)

That looks very scary and I don't like it.
On a side note, I have a snow (rain) day off at work so for course the SFV servers are going down for maintenance all day. Guess more Breath of the Wold for me!
Social survival thriller. You’ll have to manage your bodily functions, offsetting hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and so on. But it doesn’t boil down to scavenging resources. Surviving on your own is hard; you’ll have to win over allies.
The demo is a spinoff standalone experience and isn't part of the main game, sort of like the Resident Evil 7 demos. So some characters and areas are in it, but they aren't too in common with the actual final product beyond going for similar tones.
So a few nights back, we're having a discussion with my friends and a certain Kiwi we all know.. Talking about how you can be gifted the DLC for a game without owning the base game, and it just gets stuck in your inventory taunting you forever.
In COMPLETELY UNRELATED NEWS. Thank you @Antoshka for the gift of the Australian Civ in Civilization 6. I'm sure i'll love playing as those wacky aussies, especially when Civ 6 goes on sale and I finally pick it up.
You goddamn monster.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
In six days I will add another year to my age. Not super exciting. To celebrate this mundane and common occurrence, I've decided to do some "PA G&T Adventure Team" giveaways.
They are set to end on my birfday. Good luck!
Annnnd, Steam Gifts tells me that I've hit a limit.
Oh well. Good luck. Hope some of those are remotely interesting to folks.

The Doctor Who/Torchwood audiobook/radioplay bundle on Humble Bundle right now is kind of a steal. The $8 tier is especially good, since each of the radioplays in that tier are usually $8 individually. "Horror of Glam Rock" is really worth a listen.

You'll always be welcome in PAGT Chat just in case you ever feel the need to drop in and say "Hi" or whatever.
It just got delayed today. New date is May 9th.
Ah, ok thanks.
Haven't played the Infinite DLC.
Story DLC is good stuff.

Did they have any DLC aside from Minerva's Den?
They are console only as far as I know. Mainly time trials with 2.
Subject gamma? Theta? Zulu?

Surprised to see 1 did have some extra content that started as ps3 exclusive. Seems totally skippable though

That's a demo, not the full game. I don't want to play a demo in case it spoils part of the main game.
