For $159,000, that bed better be a really nice base and just a bunch of really really hot escorts laying on top to massage and cuddle me while I sleep.

If I was in the market to drop 160k on a bed, I might be okay with spending that on a person-sized version of that magnetic coil they used to levitate the frog.
goodness that's some gorgeous classic-looking animation
Colouring, linework, shading, and painted backgrounds are all beautiful, yeah. Motion was a bit jerky in a few places, and could really use more cells. A genuine 25 frames per second would make that look fucking incredible.

I mean, a rock is an untraceable murder weapon, and finding a nice pointy one takes a lot less time and equipment.

You know, if someone managed to make a game that actually made playable content look like that I'd be more impressed than if they made the most realistic looking 3D rendered models.

It'd probably help if the animation wasn't effectively ancient and roughed up by the restoration process bringing it up to modern resolutions.

I don't know anything about the world of Ace Combat. My three big questions about this trailer
1. Why does it seem like anime writers are so obsessed with the idea of kingdoms in modern day settings?
2. How is a space elevator such a problem it would inspire a war?
3. Why is this not an animated series I can be watching right now?

I've not seen this anime but in terms of point 2 I would imagine the exclusive ability to put (possibly armed) satellites in orbit for a couple grand a pop would be a very compelling thing to war over.

Point 1: is it possible that Japan's entire history as a democracy has been so anti-militant that it helps to go back to pre-imperial government structures to get good war stories? Perhaps in the same way that American fiction is constantly pillaging the Old West for any setting that allows gun-toting loners to go around dealing out justice?
I don't really know how "princess" fits into the Japanese historical worldview, so this is just a shot in the dark.

They said the other nation built it on their nation's territory, presumably without permission. A violation of sovereignty like that could be a problem.

guilty gear's pretty close, they just limit the playable content to a 2d fighting game
the intros and outros definitely show what the engine is capable of tho
Yes, it's not original animation. It lists the sources in the description: Area 88 OVA, Airbats, Macross Plus, Macross:DYRL, Now and Then Here and There, and Gundam 00

#1 Probably because monarchy is both present in Japan and it allows for some unique concepts combining various cultural concepts around monarchical honor and bravery.
#2 If it's built on someone else's land even two soldiers in a shack would probably be enough to start a war. Though space superiority in the hands of an aggressive nation is also kind of like placing nukes on your border.
#3 It's about six anime series you could watch. All that footage is from different anime ranging 10-30 years old.

I mean I picked up on #3 based on the animation styles, I sort of meant like, an anime like that based on the story in the trailer itself? If that makes sense.

an Ace Combat anime might not be that bad... or it might be awful, I dunno how much decent story meat there is to make an adaptation out of on the bones of the ace combat games
it would definitely absolutely have cheap 3D CG aircraft though, no one pays for old-style realistically drawn mechanical objects moving around in anime anymore

Yeah, it's a bunch of '80s/'90s mecha/air combat anime cut together with an Ace Combat cut scene monologue or something.
