I really hope to see some clones on spruces, that would be years of fun for me
I saw a kid get handed a JB poster by who I presume was his parents outside my store today....he tore it in half infront of his horrified parents.....There's hope for our youth yet!

Word is that after the Clone Wars starter future releases will be hard plastic on sprues.
I'm glad to see wargaming minis ditching PVC. Even Privateer press is starting to ditch it.
I guess with the announcement of the Clone Wars sets a bunch of places online are dropping the price of the current core set to about £55. Or roughly the price of 2 squads and a commander on their own.
basically you get a second commander, 2 squads and 2 support units (AT-RT/Speeder Bikes) plus dice and barricades for free.
Super good bargain
Man I went to prime my pathfinders and the spray came out all chalky, I think it was to humid. into the alcohol they go for a stripping!.
I've been trying to step up my basing game but I think i need to add the little tufts of grass for a better effect. They, imo, make bases look good.
I'm just holding on for the clone wars stuff and the up coming shoretrooper!

I finally finished painting my all my Legion guys earlier this week.
This morning new ones arrived. Pathfinders, wookiees, rebel specialists, scouts, Jyn and Veers!
Gonna have a busy easter weekend
The LGS is running a 500 pt tournament on May 4th, and I'm aiming to win it. I really think I need something else in the bike slot. Evasive Maneuvers feels bad when it only orders one unit, and Pinned Down as the other available 2 pip is similarly crappy. I dunno what to do with that 100 points though without screwing myself command card-wise. I could drop Veers for Krennic and run Death Troopers in the bike slot, but they'd be basically vanilla and I think vanilla DTs are terrible.
E: actually I couldn't run DTs even if I wanted. Force org chart for the event is
1 Command
2-4 Corps
0-1 Everything Else
Core set is on sale in the US for 60$ on Amazon and walmart.... if only they'd ship to Canada.
It's like 110$ here without tax
Happy May the 4th!

They loosened the force org restriction and I've been meaning to play with Krennic so I ran
Krennic with Strict Orders and Esteemed Leader
3x Storms with DLT
Snows with officer, flamer, impact grenades
Strike team with sniper, hunter and recon
Strike team with saboteur and recon
Didnt lose a game all day!

Those are a great idea. Legion is the first game to require assembly/painting for a lot of people.
Really? I know it's Star Wars but there were other things that captured my interest before I got into 40k

A huge number of people never even thought about mini games until X-Wing/Armada and suddenly having to build/paint minis was a bit of a shock to them. Many at the various stores around me still run bare plastic because having to paint is too daunting.
This is a good step toward alleviating that, and they chose good, descriptive names for the colors.
Knowing now that they're buddying with Army Painter makes this seem like a great idea for new painters. At first I thought it was just FFG trying to get into paints by themselves and I did not have high hopes.

Army Painter does the D&D paint sets too.
Rest assured that if a mini company is releasing paints, they almost certainly aren't producing them in-house. I can only think of like 3: Reaper, Scale75, & Andrea.
I just ordered the original core box. Will ofc buy more stuff if I end up likning it (and can find time to play and paint) but what would be some recomended units to buy if I want more? A friend really likes Boba Fett so I guess getting that character is a given.

A good starting purchase after the core set is a corps unit expansion for each faction as you need at least 3 corps units for a standard army. Empire and Rebels have been out a while now so you're spoiled for choice. I'd also recommend grabbing Veers and/or Leia to play around with a non-beatstick commander.
EDIT: Forgot to mention - buy another set of dice. In true FFG fashion they give you about 1/2 the dice you need.
They are releasing ARC troopers sometime.this year which made me buy phase two... and clone wars core set.
Just love the clones, I hope they do commandos or the bad batch they just introduced

Did the commandos show up in the series? Because I think pre-Disney books & games are no longer considered canon by default.
I have a Disney+ sub, I really should start watching Clone Wars.

Yes. Delta squad itself showed up in one episode and R2 finds a commando with amnesia who then takes on like 200 droids by himself so they are cannon still.
Almost done painting all units in the original core box now and Im looking at more stuff to buy further down the line. I guess nothing is stoppning me from snagging something from the Clone Wars era? I really like the Cad Bane character for example.
Edit: looks like Clone Wars are brand new factions so no mixning for me. Guess I need another starter box soon.

I will say, the clone wars models are significantly better made and posed than the original starter box. I've noticed that as I've been paining them. The clones look more natural.

Played a learner game with a friend in Tabletop Simulator over the weekend. It was pretty neat and now I am compelled to purchase a pile of B1 Battle Droids.

Played another game last night, this time with a list I built myself. Separatists with Grievous, three B-1 squads, two Droideka teams and an AAT. Opponent went Republic with Obi-Wan, Cody, three Phase 2 squads and a BARC Speeder (or something like that). Scenario was Breakthrough with Rapid Reinforcements.
I was doing okay on the first turn, until suddenly I wasn't. Coordinated fire wiped out my center B-1 squad in a single volley of fire, losing me the ability to chain orders. I also got a bit overly aggressive with my Droidekas on my right flank and lost one of the droids right away. From there I was almost completely wiped by the end of Turn 4 with only my AAT and maybe one Droideka left.
I kinda want to try the list again.

Coming over to this from Warhammer can I get some general thoughts on the game? Can I expect the same...shortsightedness I've seen with other FFG stuff?
I've also been eyeing this up. I do have a question I can't find a clear answer to, are the clone wars units balanced for play against the original series stuff? I.e Can I play separatists against Galatic Empire for example? Common sense would say yes, but it's always best to check.

Their Star Wars games are their best supported games, imo. Not sure if you had any specific concerns in mind.

Yes
Destiny, prior to its inglorious demise, was plagued by constant production issues and suffered from fairly persistent poor design choices.
So I was all set to get into this, and uh, its basically out of stock everywhere. It's impossible to get anything in the UK, not even boxes of stormtroopers or something.
Now, of course, it makes sense why, so I'm stuck admiring them from afar or trying to convince my 40k group to try it on TTS with me.
At least it gives me time to decide what faction I want to play, because currently its all of them.
Got a game in on tabletop sim to give this a whirl and learn the rules.
Played the learn to play then jumped right into an 800 points game. We were both experience tabletop gamers and had no troubles.
And hey, this game. It’s pretty fucking good. There’s a ton of great moment to moment tactical decisions. Stuff feels the right level of survivable in the right circumstances and I’m a big fan of the streamlined movement.
I really didn't want to get into another game, but a couple of my friends have picked this up and no one else wants the Clones, so I guess I need to build a grand army of the republic? I'm a bit stuck at the moment cos from what I understand you get a 500 point army out of the box, but all the cool stuff I'd want to add is chronically out of stock because of you know, the pandemic.
Anyway show me your favourite clone colour scheme pls.
I hadn't seen any restocks yet, but I hear that production is back up
501st is popular, blue colour scheme, Anakin's clones.
212 attack battalion is orange, Kenobi's guys.
