I have 4 soldiers after 360-no-scope-headshotting the Wampyr (+4 dice), I have the Twins helping (+2 dice), and I'm in the mountains (+2 dice). Net result is 8 dice; I crit-miss on a 1 or 2, and hit on everything else. I can reroll 2 dice. There are 3 targets attacking me.
Geth, roll 8d6t3 for Break them!
ED: The enemy soldiers charge uphill into a withering hail of arrowfire. None make it up the mountainside to get into melee range.
Sorry, off at a lake cabin right now where I was told there'd be internet, but the signal barely works and when it does it's dial-up speeds. Will try to do something but I'm not sure it can handle an image upload X(
Enemies with red backgrounds are aggressive, and will begin moving towards the nearest kingdom hero 1 space per turn as soon as one enters within a 1 area range.
Blue background: defensive, will never move.
White: Will move only to attack adjacent kingdom hero.
Remember you must pause and draw a fate card the first time a character moves into the same area or adjacent space as an empire general (exceptions: Black Knight, King of the Abyss, Emperor).
Empire Generals
Chancellor- 3 health
Kingdom Heroes
Donia 1/4 health
Elf King 1/5 health
Zyne 5/6 health
Allies
Zyne: (Black Drake) May spend 3 supply to add 4 dice once per battle.
(Lyla) Misses now count as hits
Elf King: (Irwin) + (Marianne) +2 battle die, reroll 2 dice, misses count as hits
Cards
(Zyne) Master's Armor- ongoing: Gain 1 die when defending
(Godfried) Balanced Weapons- Gain 1 battle die.
Stage III has been reached. If the Princess does not reach the capital alive by the end of turn 10, the game ends in defeat.
How had the Princess' march managed to make it so far? What started as a suicide run had picked up and managed to carve their way through half the occupied territory towards the capital. How did this ad hoc army fight through the imperial forces that had managed to route Astoria's army in its prime?
The scribes analyzing captured documents painted the picture. The invasion had cost the Imperials more than they first thought. The remainder of their forces were dispersed and focused on pacification. The larger legions had been broken up as rivalries between their generals drove them to isolate themselves and greedily carve out their own new fiefdoms. None of them imagined as concentrated a counter offensive from the remaining unoccupied territories.
The surprise was gone now. Already couriers had been intercepted showing renewed coordination between the enemy commanders. Their forces were now pulling up stakes and converging on the advancing Princess.
Far more terrible was the report from the last remaining long range outposts. Dust clouds had been spotted on the roads to Legania. Fresh reserves were marching up from the Imperial capital, as large as the initial invasion force. This time there was no full strength Astorian army to stand against them.
Victory had to come now. A last drive to cut off the head before the reinforcements arrived.
Event (Stage III)
Reckless March: At the start of the next Princess Step, the Princess moves 3 spaces without cost.
Total War: (ongoing)- All empire characters except the emperor become aggressive.
Dark Rituals: (ongoing)- The princess loses 1 health at the start of each princess step. Kingdom characters on the same area as the princess may take this damage instead of her.
Correct me, if i'm wrong - we can just throw the Princess onto the capital (I can do it for free) and defeat the Priest so that she survives the enemy step?
I think we need to get enemy troops off the Emperor. Princess has 6 troops, he has 8.
Edit: Or do you mean the tile right in front of her? I worry about the princess losing any troops at any point just because we want to ensure she rushes straight to emperor.
Actually, that said, I think we might need to do that because I need to move into the space that's NW of the princess currently to make sure the emperor loses some troops.
I'm taking care of removing troops from Emperor. To do that, I'll need to move into the City hex south of him.
That means princess will likely try to move towards Dark Priest to get to Emperor, so if we can remove Dark Priest in advance, that's no soldiers the princess loses.
Does anyone need troops from me? I'm tied up down here in chancellor town, but I can get a few supplies and ship them with a troop or 2 to our supply officer.
If you have any way to accomplish some healing, that'd be great, but I'm otherwise full-up on troops and have sufficient resources to run out the clock.
Action 1: Move NW through the mountains. 4 troops + 2 mountains = costs 6 resources; 12 -> 6
Action 2: Move into the city with the Dark Priest. 4 troops = 4 resources; 6 -> 2. COMBAT!
I have 4 soldiers (+4 dice). I am on the attack (+3 dice) and have the twins assisting me (+2 dice). The enemy has light walls (-1 die) and no soldiers with him, so he has a combat strength of 2 and 4 health. I can reroll 2 dice and treat misses as hits, so I hit on a 2 or better.
I rally the citizenry in the Capital, promising them that their rightful ruler is on her way to save them - that she's outside the gates at this very moment! Filled with joy, they bring what meager supplies they've hidden from the Emperor's secret police to feed my soldiers.
Play card: Help from the People- Gain 3 supply 2 -> 5.
I then impress upon my soldiers the need to win here, before the Emperor consolidates his grasp. We must weaken the Emperor and his army before they overwhelm the princess!
Action 3: Move NW to the center of the capital and engage the Emperor. 4 troops = 4 resources; 5 -> 1. COMBAT!
I have 4 soldiers (+4 dice). I am on the attack (+3 dice) and have the twins assisting me (+2 dice). The enemy has heavy walls (-2 die) and 8 soldiers with him, so he has a combat strength of 10 (8 soldiers, 2 other imperial characters on the board) and 13 effective health (8 soldiers, 5 Emperor). I can reroll 2 dice and treat misses as hits, so I hit on a 2 or better.
A violent skirmish rages in the capital! The smaller force led by the Elf King is guided through the tangled warren of streets by the citizens, finding pockets of Imperials soldiers, cutting them off from the main body, and slaughtering them! In confusion, the remaining forces retreat to the central citadel, a shattered remnant of what they once were. But the battle is not without its cost, and the Elven army is likewise in tatters.
7 total hits! I assign them all to the soldiers helping out the Emperor, killing 7 of them. This leaves the Emperor (2 combat power) and 1 soldier (1 cp) "uncovered," so I lose 3 soldiers and must retreat back to the city hex from which I attacked. The Emperor remains, but he has only 1 soldier remaining for a total combat power of 3 (but 5 health and 6 "vs. Princess" combat power).
Play card: Advance: Move the princess 2 spaces in any direction without cost
Play card: Guidance: Move the princess 1 space in any direction without cost
Princess Cornelia and her forces charge into the city on the heels of the Elven retreat, and storm the central citadel. After a brief fight, the Princess moves to the highest tower, holding aloft the head of the Emperor. She hurls it from the battlements, and it splashes on the cobblestones below like a rotten egg.
The princess moves NW,NW to hit the 3 soldiers stationed outside the citadel, taking 1 damage but killing them all; she drops to 5/6 HP. She then moves NE to the central Capital hex. Cornelia has 5 health and has 6 soldiers with her. She advances into the capital and wins her fight against the Emperor, who does (6-2) 4 damage to her. Princess Cornelia takes 2 damage and loses 2 soldiers; she's now at 3/6 and 4 soldiers.
Game over? Also, since it's all deterministic, someone please tell me if the Princess moves are bad to do. I think they're fine and win us the game, but I could be wrong?
I had two cards to add 2 more actions, plus two cards that would take away soldiers or dmg emperor, plus 6 troops, so emperor was going to be without any troops at all if he did manage to even survive my attacks.

Processing new turn now.
Event: Curse of Immortality
Choose 1 defeated Empire character. Place them on a space adjacent to the Emperor.
Hmmm...wait did we already do this with the Dark Priest? I had it listed as not coming up until the next turn. Did I screw up somewhere?

With the vampire's regeneration, do we need to pull another relationship card (or whatever it's called)?

We have to remove 1 from the emperor. 6+5+2 = 13. 5+8 = 13 and she has to survive
That means princess will likely try to move towards Dark Priest to get to Emperor, so if we can remove Dark Priest in advance, that's no soldiers the princess loses.
The rules aren't clear and I've seen interpretations either way. We'll just go without drawing a new one this game.

I'm full up on resources, but could take 3 troops if no one else needed them just to be at Max as I smash into emperor.

i'm out of cards and out of supplies...
1. gather supplies x5
2. gather supplies x5
3. send 1 troop and 10xsupplies to Madam Josephine ( @Phyphor )
that leaves me with 4 troops and 0x supplies.
win the game peeps.

Is there any limit to how many support cards you can play on your turn? (assuming they don't indicate they require an action)

Sorry, just started a new job (30% more pay with one-tenth the stress!) and saw this.
Hope you enjoyed the game. I felt it was an interesting new co-op twist in a pretty obscure game that no one knows about.
