just throw kids into the meat grinder and eventually you get a bunch of traumatised child soldiers
And then you give them the mechs

Anime thread, I have started playing Trails In The Sky on my Vita and this game seems neat. If I get through it I may buy the second one. Bummer the third one is only available on PC, though, but oh well - I have it on that, it's just that I'm far more likely to play games on mobile than at home, especially longish RPGs.

For the record the third one isn't 100% connected to the first two. It's sort of a standalone story, as the second one concludes the story of the first two.

If it helps, the PC versions of all Trails games have very nice QoL improvements such as Turbo mode so that both regular game movement and combat are faster. Additionally, Trails in the Sky the 3rd's structure is...different than the first two and sort of lends itself to playing in sessions.
Also Trails in the Sky is one of my absolute favourite JRPGs and I really need to finish the second one, I just kinda got bogged down and forgot where I was at in it and never got back to it.
I know exactly where I left off in the second one. I was trying to fish up an overpowered accessory because the game took away my Stealth orb that I absolutely loved in the first game
I only just learned that Trails In The Sky is part of a fairly long running series. Like I knew it and Cold Steel were part of the same series, but I guess there were a bunch of games before that?

In terms of connectivity, the various Trails series are all nominally standalone, but the overarching plot links them all.
Sky 1, 2, and 3 (centered in Liberl) happen in sequential order. Sky 3 can be thought of as bringing closure to the Sky series and a transition to sequel duology Ao and Zero (centered in Crossbell, never localized). Cold Steel 1 and 2 (centered in Erebonia) happen simultaneously with Ao and Zero. Cold Steel 3 and 4 happen after everything else.
It seems like a good series! Also I learned that Falcom is nearly 40 goddamn years old, which is nuts for a JRPG studio.
It'd be interesting to track the influences of western games on Japanese development, I know Wizardry was far, far bigger over in Japan than it was over here.

I tried to recommend Cold Steel to @Janson based on those similarities!
I am considering it! It’s just that Three Houses + Dragon Quest Builders/11 will likely last me until the end of the year, you know how I am with games.
The latest chapter of Baby Steps is the most wholesome thing ever and showcases how the series actually has a funtioning and healthy romantic relationship between characters.
In a sports series!
Ippo has been going for over a thousand chapters and they only just recently admitted to liking each other!
The Little Witch Academia movies are leaving Netflix on October 1st, so if you haven't watched those before, make sure to do so! They are absolute animation joys.

Yeah, they're focused on one of the other countries

It's me; I'm the big Trails fan.

1 did a great job of making me wanna play 2 immediately
I don't think they ever will get ported, though. I think Falcom's president said as much in an interview.
Edit: Granted, that's probably more of a money investment than you would prefer.

Hell yeah Spy x Family is so good.
Thank goodness I was getting tired of checking the other site
