Who actually won the legal argument about the name, again?
The 3 original members, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield, and Michael Wilton own the name, but Scott doesn't perform anymore. I think Geoff Tate tours under the name Operation Mindcrime now.

Michael Wilton, they're currently fronted by Todd la Torre and Casey Grillo from Kamelot has replaced Rockenfield in the battery.
They can still do a decent live show and the stuff la Torre's done with them isn't bad, not great either. I saw them for free last year and was surprised at his facility with stuff from Mindcrime and Empire. He attempted Lady Wore Black... it was bad.

Condition Human was amazing, for me that's where the la Torre Queensryche really gelled together. Their other new albums are okay but nothing too impressive. At least much better than what Tate is doing in whatever other projects...oh wait now he's out touring on Queensryche material because he's figured it out.
If FFDP is ever accepted on the Metal-Archives (for real, not just for April LOLz), then I might consider doing a review or two hahaha. Spoilers: would not be good.

I still pull up your Killswitch reviews occasionally to cheer me up when I've had a bad day. Always makes me smile and laugh.

After reading those Killswitch reviews I’m always shocked when I hear them touted as a major release.
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
I find it funny that if you ask what's the first KSE song people think of, the answer is probably going to be the Holy Diver cover

Or the songs that were on Guitar Hero/Rock Band.

As penance for the FFDP, here's some tasty classic heavy metal from Ironflame, from their new album, Blood Red Victory
I believe it's their 18th album, too, so yeah, double entendre central. Goofiness aside, though, it's better than their last one. There are songs on it like "Chemtrails" which are just dumb fun.
I had very little expectations when I saw this generic looking new black metal promo arrive but is actually real solid trad stuff with some eerie parts. All the songs rock.
So apparently Deftones and Gojira and Poppy(?) are rumored to be putting a North American Tour together. Megadeth announced a tour with Lamb of God, Trivium and In Flames. And Rage Against the Machine announced a full North American Tour.
Early 20s me would have lost his mind at this news. Today me feels like if I miss all these shows I won't feel too put out, but I might try to find cheap seats last minute.

talking of deftones the new loathe album "I let it in and it took everything" is out and its pretty good (chino tweeted one of their songs a couple weeks ago)
lotta shoegaze in there with some (imo regrettable) more metalcore bits but overall pretty fun. two-way mirror still the stand out track for me tho this one is fun too on the more mellow end
That first track sounds like Deftones++Reverb. The second one sounds like an entirely different band.
yeah the album is pretty varied - theres one track that is just a fuzzed out synth ambient instrumental, another that is a pretty aggressive metalcore job albeit done well, a lot of mixes, etc. i enjoyed it a lot as much for that as anything else
the same level of variation is found within some of the individual songs too eg

Upon watching that video I looked down and discovered I'm now wearing a pastel t-shirt and sports jacket with shoulder pads and the sleeves rolled up.

So far I'm glad the last few NFO tracks have been nothing like that first one where it was just their music with a lady narrating over it about being a flight attendant and how she loves her husband or whatever.

Currently on the train to go and see Delain tonight. Don't think I've seen a band on the day their album came out before!
Looking at setlist.fm from last night, it would appear that "Invidia" has been dropped, which is annoying. Sure they'll make up for it, though.

I just thought of 3 KSE songs to rebut this, but it turns out they were all Shadows Fall songs instead.
Not bad, though!
Very special to see them in Manchester too, as the tragic events that inspired "We Are The Others" occurred not far from here.
Also, to celebrate Apocalypse & Chill's release, "We Had Everything" got aired live for the very first time tonight. Nice little treat!

Nightwish: "Yes"
