oh jesus no not stuff like that. I just meant like, having funny map areas and smashing through glass to do tricks off of helicopters and stashing VHS tapes around the level

Both Session and SkaterXL have custom levels so you can do whatever you want really. There's already a pretty good mod scene for both of those games considering they're still in early access.
It's not even worth trying to take a shot at Tony Hawk since that remake is coming out anyway, that new Skate game is years and years away and remains to be seen if EA will mess with it

So I sure did like Enter the Gungeon, played it a lot pretty much cleared it out content wise, so I pick up Nuclear Throne on recommendation, anybody else play Nuclear Throne? If so can I ask like what your problem is exactly? Like do you play Enter the Gungeon and think "This is baby shit for IDIOTS" and defeat it with your buttcheeks, this fucking game is deranged

I like Nuclear Throne a lot and I thought Gungeon felt a bit slow and that the novelty of a million weird guns didn't make the game good.
There are no invincibility frames! You start with 8hp but the basic little shitter enemies do 3 damage! Lots of enemies have no fucking attack patterns! Numerous things will instantly kill you! It's fucking madness!
I bet you fucking DO think Enter the Gungeon is slow dude! I just bet you do!
I played Nuclear Throne before Enter the Gungeon, and while I don't usually go for shitass-hard games like that, it clicked with me in a way that Gungeon didn't for whatever reason

I have played some challenging shit from time to time your Gungeon this and your Binding of Isaac that and your Spelunky this and your Dead Cells that and I have NEVER encountered this level of facefuck I am absolutely flabbergasted
I actually had a much easier time with Nuclear Throne. It's harder in ways but I just had more fun pressing on with it. Gungeon I kept having runs that didn't feel fun because I had a bad set of weapon options.
I got to the end of it and I think I stopped at like boss #3 in Gungeon.
Oh and enemies just fucking dump at you from way off screen howd I forget that!!!

I adore Gungeon, it's probably my favorite roguelite. And it did make Nuclear Throne harder to go back to. But Throne is still good in its own rights especially in world and character design. The higher difficulty is usually balanced out by runs taking a lot less time overall.
I'm pretty sure every enemy has patterns, though some feel more random (the fucking crows). For me the difficulty comes more to when you need to breach an open space with lots of enemies and it becomes a bullet hell bc I've never played Touhou and don't have that set of wiring in my brain.
If you want iframes then play Crystal. But yeah Fish's roll is just for positioning. My favorite characters are YV (pop pop) and melee Eyes.

Weirdly, I only play Nuclear Throne using KBAM and only play Enter the Gungeon using a controller, and I don't really have that direct comparison between the two in my mind because of that.
I'm absolutely certain I would never have finished Nuclear Throne using a controller. As was, I think I only beat it because I lucked into a build where I had enough DPS to beat the Throne before I could screw up, rather than any sort of clever gameplay.

And I'm a notch further over on this, where I couldn't imagine doing either Throne or Gungeon on controller but swear by controller for Isaac.

Gungeon needed a little bit more accessibility for me, when they patched in the storage for health I thought "that's a fair compromise" but nope, doesn't carry over between floors.
Also, for all the effort it takes to get the elevators running, it feels only worth it to practice the lower floors.
i have smashed out a lot of nuclear throne because it's so easy to pick up the game and play it for five minutes and put it down again
it's pretty easy to die to stupid bullshit but then you just start again. i agree the hardest part is when you get into an open space and then it becomes bullet hell bullshit, i can't do that and i generally die there
i feel like it's pretty manageable once you get the hang of it though. like i've definitely beaten the throne enough times that it's not a big deal any more
It's not bullet hell bullshit bullet hells are like beautifully choreographed ballets of death this is like a chaotic blast of piss straight up your nose!

Sometimes that's what you need to feel alive
The feeling of elation I get when I bite into the still-beating heart of a recently vanquished adversary?
