Finished Paradise Killer
I eventually looked up the answers to some of the final threads I was missing (no regrets) and I redid a couple of the trial bits because of bad choices, but overall I had a good grasp of the ins and outs of the case, and found the conclusion satisfying, especially getting to use the damning evidence
that the suspects just shrugged off when I showed it to them.
Weird game, but in a good way. Boring at times (it definitely became a "watch something while playing" game towards the end, and I still didn't like the blood crystal for travelling system (I had plenty left over but it still led to me walking more for fear of needing to spend them elsewhere) but I'm glad I played it, it was definitely memorable.
I think the Mystery Solving to Janky Platforming ratio in Paradise Killer is skewed waaaaay too far towards the latter, but I still had a fun time. Good game for Vibing.
The main problem with Paradise Killer's gameplay was that it felt like I was just gathering everything on an island and then afterwards looking at what I got and putting together what it meant, rather than following a throughline of investigation as I explored. Rarely did I find an item that led me to another place and another item, I just went to every place in sequence and picked them all clean. Most of the travel was to talk to the npcs again about the stuff I just got.

I think there's something to be said for organic exploration and finding something because of curiosity
like
I found K.HX's body by circling the shoreline because I could, but later when I found his shack unprompted I saw the blood drag lines and stared at the ravine and went "oh neat"
But going up like 15 flights of stairs for a blood crystal and a Shinji conversation isn't as fun, but the alternative is cutting off more areas and I don't think that's better for the game overall.
Like I said, no regrets about looking up stuff when the boredom sets in and you've given it the old college try.

You need 'Dreams' to play them, of course. And, because it's Dreams, you can also make your own stuff using these assets! You could even meld the two games together. A train-set-action-RPG.
feeling weirdly indignant about the infinity waypoint service record not recognizing the time I put into Halo 3 MP.
edit: wait we're in the indie games thread?
If it recognized time we'd put into previous Halo games I should be rewarded with a completion of the initial battle pass upon completion of installation.
From the Hyperlight Drifter peeps, which is what had already sold me on it.
Having played some of this now, it's less Mario Galaxy x Bayonetta and more Shadow of the Colossus x Jet Set Radio.
Still cosmic horror/ constant unnerving feeling though.

he seemed nice, a bit lonely though
plays one hell of a mandolin
I tried to cheer him up by organizing a concert for him and it, well, it sorta worked
these were the pieces I played; Holst and Saint-Saëns are actually canon, the rest are my personal choices for what he would've liked to hear

A wonderful animated series being made in dreams by an overwhelmingly talented team.
Bottom line the first six matches you play per day net you more xp (enough for 1 level) before going back to the 50xp for the rest of the day.
