I definitely was one of those kids who didn’t fully grok that the Gundam Wing pilots were child soldiers because big shooty man robot goes blam

I rewatched the first few episodes of Gundam Wing because the Great Gundam Project - a very good podcast - is covering it, and I gotta say, that show still fucking slaps

It's saying all the same stuff Gundam 0079 said but louder and sexier and with more electric guitars, it owns

    Dorohedoro is fuckin nuts.

I really don't like this new anime thing where they just like... cell shade cg? Rotoscope it? I dunno. This one isn't as bad though.

I thought dorohedoro looked pretty great and is an example of how you can use cg expressively.

Problem is most cg anime uses cg to cut corners.

Dorohedoro and Beastars are proving that it's the effort, not the method, that makes good stuff.

The first volume of the light novels for "Durarara" and "Spice & Wolf" are on sale 50% off on digital platforms (Kindle, Bookwalker, etc.) for this week only.

So they're $4 instead of $8 if anyone is interested in starting either of those series.

So Summer anime starts this Friday looks like.

I was scanning the season, and there's a bunch of stuff that either no one has picked up, or someone besides Crunchyroll/Funimation has picked it up, making it unwatchable to me.

Damn you streaming balkanization! This is bullshit!

Crunchyroll has the Kanojo, Okarishimasu anime, but I have no idea how they plan to structure it. It's an extremely slow manga in terms of progress, so attempting to make the finale have any sort of resolution is going to be a challenge unless they make up their own ending.

The two best girls are voiced by Aqua and Megumin from Konosuba though, so that's nice.

Both will pick up more (crunchy still shows 6 shows with ???) and the services that’ll pick up stuff after them are gonna be like Netflix or Amazon which if you’re pickin up niche streaming services you probably already have the big guns.

I wonder how that series holds up, actually. I watched it on VHS back in high school.

JoJo starting out advice: embrace the camp. Part 1 is SO OVER THE TOP CAMPY you can't enjoy it unless you take everything super seriously and at face value and just REVEL in the sheer campiness of it.

The campiness slowly dissipates into an omni-present goofiness/absurdity in later parts. A bizareness, if you will. And you'll have trained yourself to enjoy that aspect, so it'll be fun. Aside from certain problems.

I want to grow up to be a himbo pacifist like Android 18.

Also, Dorohedoro keeps switching between obvious cg and regular hand drawn animation and I can't really figure out a reason why? Like it's not 100% either or.
