Alright can you not deflect melee attacks or what I dont know how Ive played this much of this thing and not figured that out, I feel like I've definitely deflected Asterius' shit before but Dads big sweeps just told my deflect abilities to get fucked
Stuff you can deflect is purple AFAIK
huh. I was thinking about how Charon's big sweeps felt like an exception to the no deflecting melee rule, but it's consistent with the "deflect purple" rule. Neat!
FYI, deflecting Charon's sweeps is big damage, just don't fuck it up cause those things hurt! He's the most predictable boss in the game but he's still tough because numbers big
I just hit the credits/epilogue and I have no idea how to use ambrosia. I've got Artemis and Sisyphus up to the locked heart and it seems like that just means I can't give them any more nectar.

Most things are just keep playing the game and talk to everyone a bunch. People who are way ahead have just already poured many many hours into the game
At some point during early access I was told there were no gameplay rewards for giving nectar beyond the keepsake and I didn't actually realize that had changed before 1.0.
Then again, I didn't play very much in between the final boss being added and now.

Oh man. I just cleared a run again! First time ever using the fist weapons too! I ended up with basically everything giving me deflect and I just hugged Hades and hit every button as quickly as possible then used the Artemis call when it fully charged. I was still very close at the end.
Now to try this gun for the first time. I just started, already found a hammer to make it fire faster and purple laser beam crystals. This run shall be called, FIRE EVERYTHING
Edit. Oh now the duo that makes the lasers fire and track faster. LETS DO THIS.
there's also a boon for the laser crystals (legendary or duo i think) that will always keep them focused at your exact position. it was kind of tricky to get used to the first time i got it, but i have a feeling that with smarter play and planning than what I normally do, that would be an absolute beast.
I'm sure SuperGiant has new shit on their minds but I do really like the idea of other games set in the broader mythological world implied by the various weapon unlocks
Oh no, my 20 streak came to an end. This Rama build felt like it was coming together but then it totally fell apart against the final boss.
Question for other folks playing with Extremer Measures:
anyone know the exact mechanics of Hades' heal? Seams like he's healing using the green pots. Not sure if I should run around trying to break them when he does it or if I just should damage race against the heal.

My first gun run ended at Hades. Had him to half health on his second stage. Pretty good considering I went in at half health with only one extra life and no deflect.
The game otherwise draws so extensively upon Hesiod's Theogony, but she and Hades don't seem to share the same father in the game
Extremely minor conversational spoilers:
Demeter has a conversation (maybe at higher hearts?) about how her actual father is Hyperion, who was a real piece of work. Haven't gotten anything more out of her yet than that. It would seem to fit some period philosophy about Hyperion being the father of the sun, moon, stars, and the seasons, but more in a capacity as the first thinking being to realize the patterns in them.
Demeter's epithet in this is "Goddess of Seasons", and a dad who only saw you as a set of patterns would be a real piece of work, that's for sure.
Speaking of epithets, (or not, if you haven't read the spoilers) I like how pretty much everybody in the game calls Zagreus something different.

So does the game ever tell you who the narrator is? Because he's clearly a person who exists in the world going by Zag calling him "old man", but I'm post credits and I still don't know who he is. Which is weird because all the other Supergiant games had plot points around their narrators.
yup, abuse special shot (and dash-attack to a lesser degree) as much as possible

The narrator is Hades.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

i dunno if milski is right (not that i doubt it, it makes sense, i just haven't picked up on that specific idea) but the narrator is 100% absolutely not Hades
it's the same voice actor, but nothing about the attitude or behavior makes it feel like Hades, and the idea that Hades would take time out to narrate his son's stupid adventures is at total odds with his personality

I figured it was Hades because of the shade it throws Zag about the unkempt room and about the important work that Hades has to do

Pooro, I like it when you refer to Zag as a "fire-stepping young man" or some such.
Because I thought fire-stepping was just another way of saying hotfooted or wreckless but then I noticed that his feet are fiery and make little puffs of fire when he walks.

I've got everyone in the house maxed out, Than romanced, Meg and Dusa are at their romance point but I haven't crossed into them even though there's no consequences for it, but Hypnos is still heart locked.
I have no idea what to do for Hypnos. It's apparently centered around a storyline with Than regarding him being more responsible but these cutscenes just aren't showing up.
I took the narrator to be, like, Zag's internal voice of Hades, like he is remembering things his dad said or imagining him narrating things, and even when it's just Zag internal monologuing in his dad's voice he imagines him getting barbs in.
Though
I haven't seen the bits where it's implied to be Homer yet, which would also make sense.

I don't know if you have weapon Aspects unlocked yet, but I've found the Aspect of Hera to be highly effective even at level 1 and even at the start of the run, assuming you use the Mirror trait that gives you extra Bloodstones. It turns out that if you load all three Bloodstones into your main attack, basically everything in the first zone will die in one shot, allowing you to collect your Bloodstones and repeat.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

I've have a great deal of fun with both Chiron and Hera with the bow. The Hera aspect just has such a big oomph on the alpha strike.
The bow's hidden aspect is fun and good but I feel like it's bad against the harder version of the final boss. Just too slow a charge when you have to be moving quickly

I am three fish catches and nine conversations (probably plus some ambrosia) with [redacted] away from completing the codex. I'd put good odds on finishing the conversations before the fish.

Is there a way to reset using the titan blood on the weapons? I didn't realize you can only select one change on a weapon at a time and used all my blood on one weapon.

What a ride
Good
Now do it again, with more feeling!
You can already fight him in Tartarus
it isn't required, you could finish quite a few runs without seeing it, and the thing that leads to it doesn't telegraph it at all
it's not a big spoiler, but it's definitely a surprise moment and would fall under the spoiler umbrella i think

Also it was in trailers. But I've gone ahead and spoiled the orginal post, if @Magic Pink wants to edit the quote of it

No?
The narrator is heavily implied to be
i dunno if milski is right (not that i doubt it, it makes sense, i just haven't picked up on that specific idea) but the narrator is 100% absolutely not Hades
the narrator is mostly passive-aggressive toward zag, and if it was Hades it would just be completely aggressive (and also he wouldn't do it)
Because I thought fire-stepping was just another way of saying hotfooted or wreckless but then I noticed that his feet are fiery and make little puffs of fire when he walks.
Still died twice to Hades because I'm careless.
