Anyways, the Stormfront beat down was largely out of the comics except there was a serious lack of the big Russian; that and due to the gender flip they couldn't stomp on his(her) nuts. I'm sure they have her in storage somewhere, still alive and limbless, wonder if they bring her back somehow in a season or two.
I'm glad Butcher sent the kid off, maybe his touching words of wisdom will prevent another Homelander.
If anything the confirmation of Solder Boy going to be in season 3 being confirmation of Payback being in the next season. A cyborg Stormfront being in the next season seams pretty easy. I just hope that The Female gets the final kill just to complete her revenge arc is completed.
Can someone post a spoiler heavy summary for what happened this season now that the finale is over?
I'm interested in watching the show again, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood for something this cynical with the upcoming election.

Without delving too heavily into real world stuff, the average human has a sensitive enough sense of touch that, if your finger was the size of Earth, you could use touch to tell the difference between a car and house.
So a guy with even just normal human touch sensitivity but high-speed reflexes and super-strength not destroying everything he touches makes a lot of sense. With enough training, he would just be used to the level of attention and control it takes to not wreck everything, just like the average adult is strong enough to smash a human skull but can easily handle an egg without damaging it. It probably wouldn't even be something he'd notice anymore.
Did anyone else have random german subtitles pop up during the show? I swear I must have enabled a setting or something, but like every once in a while during sign language or like showing various cards shit would be in german and I was so confused.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Homelander has very precise control of his powers or he would cut a hole through the wall whenever he took a piss
I mean this whole thing was on the nose as fuck - but I really kind of loved the roles of: Homelander is a traditional conservative, a monster who is fine murdering all the foreigners you could want, and has a poor opinion of the people who love him. Stormfront is the Alt-Right, who came in and literally seduced the traditional conservatives.
then it turned out Stormfront was just an actual nazi, because the alt-right actually are just nazis
And it turned out conservatives were perfectly fine with nazis even after finding out that they were literal nazis.
Good finale, good fake outs. I enjoyed that the show ended on a bit of an upside even if its an upside with "Huey you fucking idiot."
Also glad to hear Jensen Ackles joins the cast next season because who can't use more evil dean.
Indeed. I was legitimately curious where he would land after fifteen years of Supernatural, and afraid it would be on some garbage CBS show that I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to watch. Or on some stupid shit like a Walker Texas Ranger reboot.
Just need to get Misha on board, and you’ve got the whole gang migrated over.
She might also have the power to make other body parts explode, but heads are the most effective
Like how my Warlock in D&D has a number of cantrips, but will gravitate towards Eldritch Blast because it's d10 damage and 120ft range

Yeah, but head exploding is just so showy and messy.
Like, if half the room just suffered sudden lethal aneurysms, same affect at the end of the day, but you save a bundle on SFX.

Right, no, right.
I am just complaining again that the cult of fresca leader shoulda been the one with the powers.

He had the power to make people pretend they like a shitty soft drink.
It still kills me that that woman's power is making a person's head explode.
Just so specific.
We don't know it's that specific. She might be able to make anything blow up, but only has used it on heads so far. Hell, her power might be to flash water into steam, which in a human would have the same effect. Really, The Boys has not been very detailed in how any of the powers work.

I kind of like how we don't get detailed explanations. I'd rather they just be supes, not supes, or huey.

Diabolical.
The whole Fresca thing was showing who was and wasn't, practically literally, "drinking the kool aid".
Also, I love the irony of the character named The Deep being the most shallow character in the show.

I am really impressed with this series. Most importantly, what happens in series 2 answers some questions for me, like why were these guys opposing Vought not just instantly wiped out and beaten to death by their pet heroes? It makes sense now - it seems Vought are playing a Machiavellian level game here where they are deliberately using the boys and other things to pry out unwanted elements, find their moles, weed out the plots of their supes (like Stormfront) etc. The whole thing appears to be brilliantly poised for a season 3 of further dramatic reveals. I really like that in context, it makes sense how these guys were able to do what they did without as much opposition.
Imagine if Vought weren't interested in having their supes spend 90% of their time filming a random movie and instead had them focus 100% of their time on finding/killing the boys. They'd last two seconds. Now it makes sense why Vought does these weird things and doesn't just focus on eliminating their threats - because they already are.
Also any recent show that gladly shows a NAZI beat down is one I can get behind.
I also feel that Vought let Butchers betrayal go because they're going to end up with the kid either way. I actually wonder if Butchers decision, other than from personal growth point of view, actually did anything.
i understand the whole slow burn aspect of the whole vought admin thing but this next season better be all stan edgar all the time
one does not use hire giancarlo esposito and have him eat gruyere puffs
I do have to love how blatant they were in season 2 that a hero named liberty rebrands herself as "stormfront" and is an outright nazi who recruits people by being a "tough" conservative and then "oh yeah by the way white power" like Kripke and his writers didn't at all dance around what they thought of current politics.
And yeah finding out that Vought has like three back up plans to their back up plans and they basically let the Boys/CIA chase their own asses/do their dirty work is a fucking loop. Like Mr. Edgar earning those evil points "Yeah I know she's a Nazi but she tests well in the demo..."
Man when Butcher grabbed that crowbar I was certain we were going to have a moment of Billy Butcher beating a child to death that's where they've established their universe and that character. And hilariously comic spoiler.
It would have closed the open loop of the difference between the comic and show.

I've been reading the comic and I much prefer the interpretation of the show vs. the comic. The comic makes the boys much more equivalent to who they are fighting strength wise and I like the fact Butcher is a relentless asshole in the show. I also think the show is pulling off a much better critique of superhero movies and more generally, revenge as a plot motivation/device. Just hoping that with the set up they've got, they kind of go a bit bananas in the third season and let loose with a few things.
I'm very intrigued to learn more about Mrs. Head Exploder, who seems to be an alternative take on a character from the book. It was an interesting bit of whiplash for the audience, to go from the alt-right critique Stormfront was intended to be to your AOC replacement also being an evil corporate pawn as well. Keen to see what they intend to say that.
How did she explode all those heads during the trial and yet here eyes were normal? Was she taking her time with Church Guy? Did they just want to write a twist? Think it's that one.

she does specifically look at everyone that explodes, (yes, I did go back and watch the scene and check)
as for the lack of eye cloudiness, that might be related to another power, or maybe she needed it to do it through the wall or at range

Explaining why she explodes heads is easy. Maybe she can only, say, suddenly release the stored chemical energy of fatty tissues. Well, your brain is basically just a big lump of fat so, rather than waste effort blowing up other fat deposits on your body that may not even kill you, she for the easiest way to be sure of a kill. Voila, explodey head person, done and done.

She can explode heads for the same reason that Homelander can shoot lasers out of his eyes; because he can.

Yeah you could explain it as a distance thing for the eye thing, she had to focus. Versus just blowing up some heads in the court room.
I could see people seeing their AOC like as some kind of shitty "both sides are bad" take, but maybe it was just me personally, I saw it as an extension of "you see what you want to see". Both in their world and to the audience. Absolutely no one suspected the congresswoman of being evil because it wasn't how she presented herself, she's a wolf in sheeps clothing who gets the sheep to fight wolves for her.
Hilariously one has to wonder when Homelander was having his eye beam fantasy what she was thinking of doing to his big idiot ass.
Oh also forgot to mention like everyone else that god damn the guy playing Homelander is amazing. Like all the ranges he goes through in any given scene, its like he was grown in some australian lab.

Yeah, but sometimes people have the gall to question these sorts of things and I'm just trying to provide some closure.
I'm definitely in the "who fucking cares why interdimensional aliens are throwing giant monsters through a portal as long as we get to fight them with giant robots" mindset myself. Not everything fantastic should be justified.
