i just lost to keymaster alabaster in arena because i didn't have removal in hand and he gave my opponent a 1 mana hogger, doom of elwynn and a 1 mana carnival clown
Okay hey! Finally got to play some Standard today!
I plaaaaayed Secret Mage (@KafkaAU's list, subbed out Polkelt for second Occultist since I feel that card has mega value), felt real good!!! Mask of C'Thun is WAY STRONGER THAN I THOUGHT IT'D BE. Umm, yowza. Secret Mage seems like a serious contender, plus there's tons of room for improvements and innovations in that list, I feel.
Yea no way it’s optimised. I don’t think the 2 mana game master is correct. I tried running yogg as a finisher but he’s not as good as the old one. The only time he actually saved me was when he rod of roasting’d.
2 of the 4/4s for sure.

I feel like Tickatus, Y'shaarj and Il'gynoth are going to see nerfs fairly quickly because they are degenerate as fuck
I just saw Firebat sense the combo coming, armorsmith copy aoe etc to get up to 66 life, and his opponent did 68 damage in a single turn
Tickatus + Y'shaarj is absurd because milling a third of your opponent's deck kind of shits on control and it's a way better prenerf DQ Alex

Anyone else experiencing Hearthstone randomly disconnecting? It doesn't even happen during games, I'll just get a notification to reconnect every now and then or the "your game has been recorded" and restart Hearthstone message. My internet connection is perfectly fine.

My gut still says overpowered cards are deliberately released at the start of an expansion to drive up pack sales and nerfs are planned out on the timeline before a launch.

While I have been enjoying C'thun Mage, C'thun may as well not be in the deck. I'm climbing very steadily, something like 12-4 with the deck, and two of those losses are from having to concede because of work stuff. But it's just a regular old spell mage deck. C'thun is so freakin' slow that I've only managed to play him once--in a fatigue game against a warrior. I was thinking about maybe switching over to a spell power mage deck to try and draw through the deck like crazy. But I'm guessing C'thun is only going to work in the slowest of slow metagames.

The HS team is not nearly this competent to come up with plans like this.
They are, in fact, just extremely incompetent at balancing the video game.

Five opponent cards discarded and an 8/8 on the board for 7 mana and there's no warning it's coming like there was with Azari? No, I believe they knew what was up with Ticket dude during testing but decided to take a calculated step over the line. The recommended Warlock deck Cascading Corruption calls for 5 legendaries and 8 epics and includes Tickatus + Y'shaarj.

Got in an arena mood again and have been doing pretty well. After an adjustment period of two 3-3s I'm back up to 5, 7, 10, 7.
In this time I've discovered there are precisely two classes at 7 wins and above: Priest and coin Imprisoned Scrap Imp.
Plagued Protodrake and Winged Guardian being in this format both seem like major mistakes, they're utterly game-ending in ways I've never seen happen in Arena.

Unless you're a scrapimp warlock and face three priests before 7 wins.
OK, new really weird bug: I was in Standard mode, and intended to play Wild. I touched the Wild deck that I wanted to play (Odd Paladin) and it gave me the “LOL this deck is WILD, would you like to convert it to Standard?” I hit the button for “No, shut up, this is the worst ‘feature’ ever.” I flipped the game over to Wild and queued up. My opening hand had multiple even cost cards.
I know that this deck was Odd Paladin because I played it last night. Despite hitting “fuck no” on the “I know that you totally want to make this Standard” button, Hearthstone flipped it anyways.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.

Yeah, I just got booted again and my internet connection is fine. It looks like Battle.net is disconnecting randomly for some reason. Sounds like maybe it's on my end. But I haven't seen anything like this before the expac dropped.

it's the same team that had no idea people would run Skull in Aggro DH decks cuz they only internally tested it in slow DH decks
there is such a thing as just being so incompetent that you miss the mark *that hard*
i don't think it's anything more than that, really. anything beyond that starts to sound like tinfoil hat theory justifications as to why a broken card is broken when the simple reason is they just suck at balancing

Kind of want to craft Rez priest because blood of g'huun and idol of Y'shaarj makes the deck incredibly threat dense and resistant to removal

I prefer to believe Blizzard devs had everything perfectly balanced but then management from Activision made them add a 1.
imo a lot of conspiracy theories about rigging things make me think about things like all the people who think there's a dynamic switch casinos have to make some slot machines "hot" and some "cold", when the magic of gambling is that you don't have to do shit but set the margins
Heyyyyyy, got this cheevo! It's honestly not too bad, really, lots of comps can do it.
but it just so happened i was playing Ragnaros and tripled into a Nomi, so
(Mechs and Big Demons can also do it, Pirates maybe if they get a strong enough lead, i think Ping Demons can do it too just by virtue of sheer aggression, but...)
hi5 little fish Nomi bro. For mine I actually managed to beat down another elementals player who had reached tier 6. Sitting at 4 and rolling for triples managed to outpace their scaling pretty thoroughly, especially with Barov's extra gold.

You also need a bankroll high enough to minimize risk of ruin, but certainly it has turned out that gambling companies and casinos, once it was legal, got clean of other crime very quickly because being a criminal was dangerous enough to get in the way of making the easy gambling money.

Spent 5000 gold for now to get started on the expansion by getting all the commons and not quite all the rares (I think I'm 3 short after opening 55 packs, all druid cards, oddly). I should have known this would be a cursed pack opening expansion, based on the total debacle of the new rewards track.
I beat my old record for proximity to the pity timer, going 39 packs opened between two legendaries, just 1 pack short of the incredibly rare full pity timer. Ugh.

I once got the secret, nonexistent Littler Fish in a Bigger Tavern achievement by going first place at tier 3 with some good luck on Aranna doing the "stay on 2, find party and molten elementals, profit" strat. I only bothered leveling to 3 when it became free.
Having a Molten Elemental that's like 15/50 or something by turn 7 or 8 can really wreck people in the mid game.

I don't see pulling off Corrupted Tickatus (and not just losing the game right after) being a common occurrence, but god damn will it be frustrating when it does happen to you.

I reckon Tickatus is going to get nerfed to 7 or 8 mana and it literally won't matter people will still abuse it with Y'shaarj making it free anyway
I did see one game of Dog's where he was playing, I don't know what it's officially called, but the new Taunt Druid that everyone has surely run into, against a Tickatus warlock. Dog was running out of minion threats to play and desperately needed to draw Survival so he could pound the Warlock down before having all his stuff cleared and his deck blown up. Dog can't manage to draw it. Warlock plays Tickatus, 5 cards destroyed, none of them Survival. Dog's draw next turn is Survival, which gives him exact lethal with his 3 or so minions on board.
It reminded me of the Tracking discussions of yore.
