Please be careful about weighing in on medical issues. I know a lot of us have experience dealing with the medical community, but the amount of information you're gonna be working on here is way less than anyone should feel comfortable speculating on.
I want to say one of the reasons why bat-bourne illnesses tend to be so nasty is because bats have a particularly high body temperature due to, I dunno, being bats? All flapping around n shit, having to eat like 20,000 mosquitoes a night. They're basically constantly in a fever state, so whatever little critters get inside them and don't immediately Terminator 2 thumbs up melt become like, the Marines of viruses.
Which is why people are generally discouraged from eating and or interacting with bats in general.

So partial good news? BC has accelerated the first doses of vaccines, so looks like I'll get my first jab sometime in May
The not so great news is that they're pushing the second dose out to four months, which means I won't have the total package until September
Yeah, it means that, with partial protection inside more residents, case numbers should nosedive which means community transmission will also nosedive and some normalcy will return during the summer
but it also means that, without two doses and complete protection, it'll take longer for international travel to be a reality.
It's not ideal, but I'd rather not get sick, personally.

Hell yeah. Once again, the answer was libraries inexplicably giving away valuable intellectual property for free. Even we have no idea how we still get away with it, we're just happy nobody has managed to stop us yet.
My tribe's done a really remarkable job handling the pandemic (and now, the vaccine rollout), so this could have been so much worse. But any loss was still too much, and I'm glad to see some ceremony for those lost.
Also, man, that fourth picture has given me quite the collection of emotions.

Partners parents bought us really good BBQ today, I had a take home box of brisket and spare ribs, left it on top of the car, realized it while still in the neighborhood, so we turned around. Busted open all over the street.
You know that horrible pit of despair you get in your stomach when you have like a bad breakup or a pet dies? I'm having that for spilled BBQ.

You know that horrible pit of despair you get in your stomach when you have like a bad breakup or a pet dies? I'm having that for spilled BBQ.
Over the weekend we adopted a new pup. Meet Samwise!
Our older puppy is Sprocket they're both spaniel mixes, but very different mixes! Sprocket has Pomeranian and Tibetan spaniel heritage, Sam is dachsund and spaniel.
Oh also the Georgia eligibility opened up so the partner and I are getting our first Pfizer shots this week!
I have some bad news, folks. Samwise turned out to have come with some unresolvable issues when it came to possessiveness which led to him injuring our other pup. Both are okay now, but Sprocket sustained a pretty bad scratch on his lower eyelid when Sam took a swipe at him. We were starting the work of training him out of his defensive behavior (he is a rescue from a hoarding household so he probably didn't get enough attention before now) but we couldn't risk a more serious injury. We brought him back to the foster home last night and they will arrange for his future home to be a single-pet household.
It was a rough note in what has already been a very bad week.
