Jack gives an indignant huff as his arrow is subsumed by the pillar, both shots missing despite feeling on point, "First magic fog, then magic pillars, I don't know why I bother bringing my bow sometimes..." He peeks around his cover, gauging the next cover over from where Oak used to hide. Yeah. That feels doable.

With a hup! he leaps out and runs, leaping over the narrow stream and just barely stopping himself from smacking right into the pillar before taking cover behind it, "I gotcha, bud!" He pulls out the pistol and unloads on the baddy the Shifter just attacked.

Jack jumps the infested waters, rolling arm over arm into the column, and stands to unload his pistol into Oak's clockwork combatant! Jack's fears are confirmed, as the lead shots *pings* off the machine...but regardless, the able pistol manages to tear off half the robot's face, and a *whole* arm (-12 piercing damage (resistance)

"Hmm," Urixes grunts, considering the statues but unsure of what to do about them just yet. Instead, he focuses on helping Oak clear a path. "Go peck some eyes, Hex."

OOC: Urixes will move north to take cover behind the next column, then start with his trademark barrage of blasts and tentacle-slaps. Two eldritch blast bolts vs Clockwork 1, using Hex's help on the first and Bardic Inspiration on the second, followed by summoning Grasp of the Deep next to Oak and slapping Clockwork 1.

Bern breaks off his readied Cure Wounds with a quick snap of his taut strand of hair.

“Bah! These lot aren’t half as bad as I thought. Scurvy drudges.”, he laughs in well practiced hearty way, “How’s this you blundering wreck?”

Bern strides up to stand beside Arno, cover be damned, and casts Heat Metal on the nearest clockwork soldier.

“Looks like it’ll be potions for patching ourselves up later lads, but not to worry. Besides, who knows what goodies we’ll prize from their cold, dead hands.”, Bern assures his allies with a Jolly Roger grin.

Geth roll 2d8 for Fire Damage
    Heat Metal
Choose a manufactured metal object, such as a metal weapon or a suit of heavy or medium metal armor, that you can see within range. You cause the object to glow red-hot. Any creature in physical contact with the object takes 2d8 fire damage when you cast the spell. Until the spell ends, you can use a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns to cause this damage again. If a creature is holding or wearing the object and takes the damage from it, the creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or drop the object if it can. If it doesn’t drop the object, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the start of your next turn.

    Fire Damage:

The Clockwork Soldier heats from the very inside, the sound of gears and joints melting away somewhere deep within as the metal man lights up like a newly forged blade! The robot looks around "shocked", just before the growing heat causes a rivet holding on his mouth to *pop* out (-15 fire) and shoot across the room. The Salvaged Soldier's jaw hangs sideways off its face, the expression now completely bizarre and unreadable...
    ...

From behind Bern and Arno's advance, Erik hollers a final, "*Good Luck*!", before pursuing his brother and their donkey out and away from the melee...

Balog, smacking his face a few times to get the adrenaline going, picks up speed and *hurls* himself over the river to land beside Jack. The old dwarf picks himself up by the Crossbow, and (holding down the troops across the way), *fires* a lazy shot between the troopers.

Slipping the pistol back into his belt he whips out the saber and charges up to sniper #1, making sure their cover is now also his cover from the rest of them. He glances at the hilt of the sword before swinging it, "Well, guess you're getting your due after all."

Oak's opponent is quickly cut down by Urixes, and the Shifter nods in appreciation, even after multiple bolts fly around him. He looks up at the firing soldiers and his eyes narrow. Pointing at them, he yells out, "Leaving them to you. I'm headed for Gunn."

With a bound, he heads up to the Dias, his jaw clenched tightly as he watches Gunn swing at the attacking bird. "Why don't you find someone yer own size there mate?" Oak roars as he stands in front of the Lieutenant, anger unleashing more fully as his animalistic nature takes over. In his rage, he can't wait to get to Gunn, and reaches out with two hands to grab him. If he could tear him apart with his bare hands, he intended to.

Jack makes for the crouched Soldier in a flash, cutting him *deeply* with the blade with both the front and back end! (-17 slashing) The man (Finch) looks at the fresh cut wounds on his arms, *shocked*, as the blood starts flowing from the sliced veins flows for a moment in midair towards Jack's sword. He meets eyes with Jack, both of you suddenly aware of *each other's* awareness of the situation. "The blade.. its, vampiric! The wolf...he's feeding me to it!!" Finch yells to the others, his face going white as a sheet...

    JACK'S RED SKULL SABER
*rude, sloppy eating noises* "Awm-nom....an', if you'd just *hold still* little brother, we will soon have it all...hahaha, AHAHAHA, *AHHHHH*....*today, I FEAST!!*"
    ...
Gunn responds to Oak with a steady, ready growl as the Shifter bounds up to confront him head on. The man's eyes meet yours. A fellow warrior. He goes to swing upon Oak with his sword, but Oak grabs his wrist before the strike can come around. Gunn goes to punch Oak with his free hand...and finds it caught by the Shifter again. Necks straining, legs pushing against the stone beneath, and the two men wrestle atop the temple ruins as the sounds of battle ring out below them...

Locked as he is in Oak's meaty grip, Gunn does the best he can to *snap* his neck around and weave between beak strikes, dodging out of the way of the aggressive avian while still pinned bodily by the Shifter...

The temperature nearby Oak suddenly begins to drop dramatically: the Lieutenant's breath becomes frosty, and his arms begin to tremble, not just from the effort, but from the sudden chill in his bones. Looking up at Oak with small icicles hanging from his eyebrows and involuntary chattering teeth, the man goads Oak, "C-c-can't take me on your own, eh? Need yer little nature witch t-t-to put me down? Yer n-n-ot a *proper* man after all, then; just a *beast*..."

But just as soon as the effect has begun, it starts to fade: the icicles on the man's face melt, and the blue color leaves his lips. The magical energy which charged the atmosphere begins to roll off the man like a wispy vapor, curling and tumbling like trails of smoke until absorbed into the Ouroboros statue.

Gunn grins wickedly as the color returns to his lips...(-6 cold, half-neutralized by the Statue!)

Geth roll 1d20+2 Con Save vs. Cold

Oak growls back at Gunn. "Fancy talk comin' from a lad sitting up on his hill while his mates shoot at us." Oak strains against the other man. "Time to pull you off yer throne."

Having stopped Gunn's attack, Oak forces his arms slowly backwards. With a glance to his side, he sees the pool below. "Maybe you need cool down."

With a yank, he goes to throw Gunn into the pool of water below.

... but his struggle is useless. The man goes completely limp in Oak's fearsome grip. The Shifter *hefts* the man halfway up, before *chucking* him off the edge and into the pool below.

He hits the water like a missile, and then *smashes* against the bottom of the pool (must've been more shallow than you all thought) (-11 bludgeoning). Gunn is just floating to the surface, when the Cave Fishers are upon him (-40 slashing!)...
