They've changed so much that Ms. Marvel barely seems related to the comics. Maybe it will be enjoyable as its own thing, but it feels like so much of what was great about the comic isn't going to work in live action. And they didn't even bother to try for much of it. An animated series might've been a better fit.

Do you mean in terms of her power set or do you mean in terms of who she is? Because from day 1, I've much more enjoyed her personality than any other aspect of her, and I REALLY dug her powers.

Can you elaborate on what was changed? My impression of the character is "Pakistani-American Muslim teenage girl idolizes Captain Marvel and becomes a hero after she gets powers."
Like, the type and origin of her powers might be different, but does that affect the soul of the character's story? Is there something I'm missing, having not read the comic?
It's been a while, but I remember the first year or so having a lot to do with the Inhumans. Also her friend being an inventor genius, which seems to have been removed if the bracer thing he made for her is now magic or whatever.
But there was also a ton of great background art stuff, like people at the school or in the neighborhood looking straight out of Kill la Kill or something. And also constantly having cameos that they can not afford in live action.

Okay, but all that seems like the normal sorts of COMICS ARE WEIRD things that end up getting changed for any adaptation. Plus it's too early to say if they manage to preserve some of the atmosphere, I think.
Spoiler: Everything is CGI. Especially the stuff you don't think is.
"Wow how did they film a whole scene in a train in London? I bet they had to-"
"They filmed it in Atlanta with a green screen. The guys weren't even there on the same day."

I miss old special effects. I used to spend a lot of time watching Movie Magic back when I was a kid. Seeing how they built models out of random stuff, layered matte paintings, the pyrotechnics, puppets...
Now "They danced around on a green stage acting at tennis balls and the rest was done in computers", it just doesn't really have the same magic.
If you'll excuse me, I think I need to go yell at the neighbor kids to stay off my lawn, possibly a cloud if one catches my attention.

Those old ‘making of’ documentaries were great.
I loved the Jurassic Park one going over the practical effect Dinos, like the T-Rex that would start shaking uncontrollably and be unable to move because it’s big scene was in the rain and the shin would absorb the water and get some heavy the robot underneath couldn’t physically move.
And the huge cord they ran through the car and plucked like a guitar string to get the cups to have impact tremors.

I like how that story basically starts with "Stephen was in his car, Earth Wind and Fire came on and started shaking his mirror and he said he wanted that in the movie."

Upon buying the Alien Quadrilogy box set I watched each movie once, then I watched all of the behind the scenes making of DVDs way more, especially the Alien Resurrection one.
Wait, when does Ms. Marvel air? For some reason I had it in my head that She Hulk was the next show, but that's clearly not right.
Anyway, while I love making of, particularly for older movies, to see their ingenuity with effects, if I'm being totally honest, I also don't really care if something is wholly CG, if it's done well and doesn't flip the suspension of disbelief. For real, the artistry, let alone the sheer amount of knowledge and tech and work, put into CG is no less impressive than the most scrappy "look at the ripples in the water cup" effects. They're all fake; and I guess I'm becoming more and more bothered as I get older that people treat stuff like the sheer amount of everything put into, say, Thanos, as "lesser" than older techniques that are just tricks. It's all good, is what I'm saying, and I hope that folks can see that and not just get jaded at "oh, just CG, meh". Lifetimes have been spent building and creating and refining that CG, and that's just as meaningful.
it's interesting we're getting star wars running while they also have a new marvel show. i'm very excited to have more things. even if some aren't "for me" i haven't had any of the new stuff come out and felt that my time was wasted. even FatWS was a fine ride even if i felt it was weak.

It's gonna be really weird if the daredevil show is a reboot/softer on violence than the Netflix shows... Which are now on D+ for direct comparison
It'll be even weirder if Jessica isn't a semi-functional alcoholic. I remember the lengths they went to in order to avoid dealing with Tony Stark's drinking.

Three.
But the third one was actually added in post and is just the first in a wig.

The story about that is great.

Lots of comparisons to Spider-Verse aesthetic and praise for Iman Vellani and the cultural representation.
I look forward to seeing just how angry my fellow white men get over this.
I imagine they will burn down the internet if Brie Larson shows up.

Ok, not really concerned about the CGI anymore.

Those that will get angry about it aren't fellow's of any sort of mine, even if they are white, and dubiously men.
Fair point.
That'll make me so happy.
Both parts. I love her.
New York is far too crowded now though
Wouldn't that be in her own show which was announced prior to Daredevil?
Oh I didn't realize she was going to get her own show, that'll be good then

He probably already heard it.
Yeah he's really got his ear to the ground on everything that happens with criminals in New York.
Cause he's a really good lawyer.
He'll believe it when he sees it.
I mean, as we saw in Spider-Man, he really catches on quick.
