I want to run a game, a simple game. Except there is something wrong with my brain and whenever I start thinking about something it goes well thematically maybe they should have this power.

Anyone have anything planned for the first phalla of the year?

I am considering thinking about doing another phalla.
Is there still much interest?

This is all based on feelings rather than data but I think the interest is there to play a game for sure. I would be scared to have days close on the weekend and I'm not sure if it could be 30-50 people without advertising in D&D or SE++ or something. But its been so long since the last game and longer since regular games so who knows.
I feel bad I never got that game going in the fall. I started taking piano lessons in July and have had a lot less time since then. I'm starting to forget how much work running one of these is though so maybe I can get something going again.

I mean keep in mind it literally takes me months to get through the planning stages as first I have to come up with a setting and mechanics that I like.

I think I am going to post signups under the assumption that they will be up for a week or so and see what happens and if anyone wants to catch a game.

I would love to have a reserve or two on the books if anyone is up for it.
Also @Bandwagon I think you are a few games behind now on the front page list.
I'll be on vacation from the 17th to the 25th but I can open signups now I guess? Also the game will likely be fairly short so it might be able to finish before then if signups are quick.
So I don't think anything will come of it, but does anyone have any articles or resources on running a phalla?
E: Logistically on the forums, I mean.
On these forums, specifically? Nothing beyond what's in the OP, but there are some of us who've been around and running games on and off for a few years. (or a decade. you know, whatever, time is a lie)

Forums/play by post in general. I didn't think there'd be this forum specific stuff (but who knows, might get lucky).

One option is to work together with someone to co-host, so they can help balance the game and you get a good peak behind the scenes on how things are run.

there is likely very little that would be tooooo crazy to try in a game.
but I would suggest a new host start with a basic vanilla and then add things on as they go.
there have been others that have gone full on crazypants right off the bat and those were fine too.

Oh yeah, I'd probably do bog standard werewolf/mafia with a few specials.
But having a bunch of fancy narration ready every day and answering hundreds of PMs seems like a lot of logistics, hence my interest in how past hosts have had success managing.

I used to write my narrations when vote closed. Came up with a theme and then shoe-horned events into it.
PMs become more manageable as the game goes through.
Spreadsheets are your friend unless you are a coding wizard that can code yourself a resolver type thing (like @Infidel and @MrBlarney used to do)
I have been known to use a pieceof paper and pencil to do a "wtf just happened" with lines and things. but that was... a complicated time
Most of us asked for eyes on our first project I think. I have benefitted from @Infidel@lonelyahava@MrBlarney@Egos looking over my games at one point or another.
Also I'll try and finally post those notes you asked about. (sorry for being awful)

My spreadsheeting capabilities are non-existent, so that might be a hang up.

Each time I run a game I run it with @Green. As someone who is newer to running games, I found that running it with someone helps with ideas, spreadsheets, narrations, etc.
I'm not experienced at running a game on my own, but I am glad to be a moral support person. If you feel overwhelmed shoot me a message and I can provide positive thoughts π

Iβm thinking of running one! Just planning out the mechanics I want to use.

If you can fight your brain nothing *needs* to be a battle game.
Friendly fire is 100% compatible with the lore, too!
