I followed on a whim a few days ago and already this channel is paying off with a weird convergence of nerd topics.
when she says, "out of munchlax's 105 kg, we only need 9120 of those kg to be thorium"
I entirely lost it
and the simple card with a "9120 is much more than 105" was a cherry on top
I also loved the (paraphrased) bit about "you can't see gamma rays but you would see this event ... and then you would never see again but let's ignore that part for now"

Smosh seems like a pretty cool place to work since Ian and Anthony bought it back
It's funny, youtube started serving me clips of these about 3 years ago without me having any idea where they were actually from, and like...a good proportion of these involved jokes about Anthony leaving, so when he actually came back it was like

Ok, I've finished both the HBomb and Todd videos on James Somerton. What a colossal piece of shit James is, dear god. The plagiarism was already terrible, but the shit he and his co-writer spouted is infuriating
Saying that the "boring gays" were the ones who survived the AIDS epidemic is such a ghoulish take that even if he hadn't plagiarised a word he shouldn't be an authority on anything, period
I've started getting these anti-woke Disney hater recommendations in my feed and it's really throwing me off. It's in the "play next" section on mobile where I can pick "Not Interested", but not "Don't Recommend Channel" which is only available on the home page for some reason. Nothing whatsoever in my history that should be triggering it, I keep that pruned. Is there any other way I can block these channels?
I'm glad there are no overt references like there were in 2. Having meme stuff like "Still D.R.E." or "Megalovania" show up in the middle took away from things. This is a bit more pure, as weird as that sounds.
Thing is, there's still some pretty weird stuff with the fact that the donations weren't made over such a long period of time. That's where the core of the issue is - why that happened. But the cross-country misunderstanding of law, the general tone of all the accusations, etc... not great.
On the other hand, Jirard saying he did nothing illegal... but dodging the shady looking stuff or the immoral/unethical appearing stuff.. might not have helped his case. I personally didn't like the video ending with a fade to black and THEN an appeal to emotion, as it's kind of a bad rhetorical habit. Of course... I would've preferred if it was just one take, but I get how hard that would've been to film.
I've pointed out to a few people that non-profit financial stuff is SUPER complex and weird and fraught, and basically requires dedicated folks. The slight discrepancies in dollar amount is not a smoking gun.
The "This document isn't signed" bit just makes the accusers look horrible. I'm really hoping Karl and Muda don't respond other than to acknowledge the release and to wait for the gov't to do what it is going to do. They especially shouldn't monetize any further videos on Jirard, or monologue, or add commentary or anything like that.
I'm still curious what triggered all this. Like.. what made them look into the charity?
(FYI I'm on the side of "lots of fuckups on all sides, I hope Jirard can get out of this okay.)
Whelp.
Haven't watched this yet, so I don't know what Muta said. I also apologize for misspelling his name.
Edit: Muta definitely brings out receipts and calls out the lack of receipts. So if you are gonna do this, might as well go nuclear like Muta did. And kudos for offering to release the full audio of the call.
At this point I'm just glad Jobst has fully morphed into a drama youtuber so he doesn't even incidentally come up in my speedrun related recommendations, dude's a shithead and has lost what little value his videos had.

Just noting - having finished up the video response to the response at this point... yeah. I did the dumb and didn't click through to see what all receipts were actually attached. I got swayed by the precision of the numbers in Jirard's video, though even at the time I found it weird that he didn't show the sources for those... but I assumed they were in the description.
Hey, look at me, failing to learn from the hbomberguy video. Damnit, Jirard. If there is shit going on in your family, just.. be open and public about it?

It very much seems like there's some weird stuff going on with the charity, and it's a good thing someone other than Karl Jobst is looking into it because Karl Jobst is an untrustworthy clown person.

Well either my adblock updated itself in the right way or Youtube dropped the "you can't watch videos with adblock" stuff. I just opened the video I wanted in a private window to avoid that anyway.
here's a neat thing about Mario speedrunning:
this is a video combining every sub-5 minute run in Super Mario Bros. 1, all at the same time. The way it's done is really neat, where they captured all the inputs and converted them all to TASes
You can really see the frame rule in action, which is cool.
(The frame rule is a system in SMB1 where the game only checks to see if you've finished a level and touched the flagpole every 21 frames, about 1/3rd of a second, so running it involves an incredible amount of optimization as any time saves that are less than a 3rd of a second are basically meaningless while also alowing for imperfect play or improvisation since it doesn't matter if you miss the flagpole by 1-20 frames)

For me it comes and goes. It'll work fine for a week, then break for a day.
If you use uBlock Origin you can check out this page whenever things start breaking to confirm 1) that it's broken for everyone (it'll be red if so) and 2) when it's been fixed (back to green)

I use AdblockPlus for Chrome and every video basically starts like this:
Yeah adblock plus was the original hotness that sold out by offering paid whitelisting to advertisers. uBlock Origin is the newer hotness that is all above board.
Not that new though, adblock plus sold out in like the mid 2010s IIRC.
The eternal question 'if Sex is so good, where's Sex 2?' has finally been answered! And in doing so, I found myself on a spiritual journey - one that's led me to find a new love for even the most absurd of art.

Technology is cool, actually. That said, this really does seem like a convenience option - but standardizing the battery platform is a good idea in general because they are technically consumables.
I go for the shotgun approach. I have adguard, adblock plus, adblock ultimate and ublock origin. I probably should cull adblock plus and make sure adblock ultimate is still worth a damn, since any extension is going to put some additional load on my 10+ year old laptop computer. My thought process, is that having more than one blocker, ups the odds that Google's anti-adblocker shit fails at serving me ads.
I know adguard had been looking into and developing stuff to deal with some of google's other bullshit. One being where google, is intentionally making it so that youtube run's worse on browsers that aren't Chrome. Though they also working on something that Google is having a very hard time dealing with and if Google wasn't a shitty oligopoly, they wouldn't really be able to afford to waste time trying to bypass. Though my hope that a regulator, hands Google their ass for the whole sabotaging the functionality of youtube on non-Chrome browsers. That shit is anti-competitive and it should be treated as an illegal business practice.

I don't think "consumable" is really the right way to think about EV batteries. The time span on when they wear down is as long as any of the other mechanical parts.
I don't think battery swaps is going to be the future, the install and especially maintenance costs on those stations must be astronomical.
And, ultimately, the problem they're solving isn't actually the range problem, it's the range anxiety problem. Like once the market gets to the place where every car has 2-300 mile range and consumers are used to the realities of EV ownership (i.e., the times you need to fast charge are few and far between), who will want to pay a premium too swap batteries in 5 mins when you can just charge in 20?
My prediction has been for a while that we'd only get widespread battery swapping if we had some new chemistry where we got increased density but limited battery use, and then those are used as auxiliary batteries. (And then they can be smaller/lighter and not need a giant robot swapping machine but just like, a dude with a loading dolly or whatever.)
