Just thinking about if the Lakers choose to blow it up. . . Fiatil , how would you feel about the Thunder moving some of their 10,000 picks for AD? Any interest there? Could be nice to have a bulkier player next to Chet who doesn't compromise spacing too much. Who would be off limits in such a deal? Obvs, I would assume Shae and Chet would be off the table, but what about Jalen? I assume everyone else is touchable.

For any team wishing to start a rebuild, OKC is pretty much your only partner with all those draft picks.

I am looking at houses, full of dread and elation and curiosity and exhaustion.

My main problem is I only know enough to be dangerous in most trades, so I am not sure of some design repercussions and worry that I am not worrying enough about certain things. Especially since it's mostly houses from 1910-1940 with a mishmash of codes and materials.

One house seemed decent/repairable enough, but there were several switches installed backwards (up as off) that weren't multiswitch fixtures. And the seller's mandatory disclosure listed a bunch of 3-prong outlets as ungrounded. And it had a 200 amp in. Most of the rest of the house appeared relatively fine, but that seemed very questionable. Especially since it doesn't take that long to replace a switch so it flips 'normal'. Proper grounding would be more work. But it made me think none of the wiring can be trusted.

And then there was the house with signs of someone seemingly removing an unlisted finished basement and every yaed knickknack known to man. The house where all the floors slanted at least 10 degrees. The house with an upstairs containing all the bedrooms, no bathroom and a painted door that opened into unfinished space.

Most of the showings have convinced me people want a basement so they can finish it but none of those people can be trusted to finish a basement.

Woke up from an impromptu "nap" to see a decently sized insect on the wall next to me. It was kind of dark-ish so I didn't get a good look, but it seemed to have ridged hind legs and three "hairs" on its rear. Didn't look like a cockroach at least, or any kind of beetle, so I trapped and tossed it outside.

Now I'm wondering what it actually was. I had no way to get a good look without it escaping and that's not something my unhappy legs (they were dangling off the bed during the "nap") were willing to chase.

I ordered something and it's being shipped by USPS from Wylie, Texas. It was supposed to be delivered on April 29th.

It just now updated out of the "moving through the system" or whatever status and it is in... Fort Worth, Texas. It's two days over due and has only made it 60 miles from the origin point.

I lost an archery training tool, right as I got my bow and arrows set up enough to mount it to my bow. It's a pressure activated clicker that mounts on your grip, designed by my coach.

I had dug the gadget out of a storage box over the weekend, so I just fucking had it

I tore the house apart looking for it last night and cannot find the thing anywhere. I even looked in the garage.

I'm afraid somehow threw it away by accident.

It's a small scale production that makes them, so a replacement will cost $40

Which I don't have until probably July

    Fuck

It's a tiny thing in a tiny bag, so it's gone

Is it something that could be 3d printed? I would be willing to help you out if so.

There are truth-in-housing reports with an inspection done by the seller here (I'm not going around show houses with a multimeter). I can review that before an offer. Although I plan on my offers being contingent on my own inspector's inspection.

So I am trying to judge how severe some problems might be based on disclosures and seller inspection reports and what I see. But I'm just not sure of the potential severity for some flaws. Do awkward switches, missing grounding, and wires not in conduit actually portend some sort of electric doom? Maybe. (Probably not that severe since someone has been living there off and on for 90 years.) Putting an offer in and paying for an inspection and appraisal to find out I'd need to re-do all the house's wiring and back out doesn't seem cost-effective when the disclosures already tell me there's some level of problem. But maybe that's "here's an offer 10k under because I am going to have to pay an electrician to fix up the shoddy workmanship on that 1965 addition and whatever else has been happening in this place" territory.

There was a house that had the same owner for 45 years in good shape with nothing exceptionally questionable in sight or the disclosures, but my offer did not win the seller's tie-breaker, apparently. That one would still probably need a tree removed and at least a few new windows and would be helped by re-grading near the house. Those are things I am somewhat familiar with, unlike the mechanicals in detail.

Anyone have any experience with portable AC units? Wife and I are in a two story house with central air, but the upstairs can get hot during the summer. We should really look into upgrading the central air or installing a second unit for the top floor, but that's more hassle than we can deal with right now. So for now, we're thinking of buying a portable AC to help keep at least the bedroom cool.

    Any recommendations? Alternative suggestions?

Trying to replace this light switch, original installation has it wired directly into holes in the back of the switch, wire leads are just shoved into the back and it forms a pretty tight connection, instead of around the brass terminal screws. Is that common/ok? I like the idea of having the leads fully contained with in the switch itself.

(Don't mind the missing brass screws, that's a minor screw up on my end)

Cool, that makes sense. Second, possibly dumb, question. Is there a nomenclature between a switch like the one in the picture with the stabin/screw terminals and one that comes with existing wires that it expects you to connect to the outlet with wire nuts?

The switch box doesn't have enough room for an externally wired switch and I'm having a devil of time finding a switch with out the wires

Other than a regular switch vs a switch "with leads"? I'm not aware of a specific name. I'm surprised you can only find ones with leads. That certainly wouldn't be more common than standard switches in stores here. At least if the store isn't just sold out of all the regular stuff.

Yeah, at Home Depot here anything beyond the super cheap $.99 switches have thick back plates and come with their own leads. I know I can cut some wires to maybe make things fit but I'd rather just replace it with something that I know fits in the existing box.

I wasn't expecting two series to end tonight. Celtics Heat looking very over, aaand unfortunately it appears the exciting ending to 76ers Knicks we saw last night was fraudulent:
According to the NBA's Last Two Minute Report from Game 5 of the instant classic first-round series between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks, Tyrese Maxey's heroics never should've happened.

That's because the league said the game's refereeing crew missed a Maxey travel on his 3-pointer with 25.4 seconds to go, on which he was fouled by Knicks center Mitchell Robinson and made the free throw, beginning Philadelphia's remarkable comeback from down 6 with 28.9 seconds remaining in regulation to eventually win 112-106 in overtime and keep the 76ers' season alive.
    Editor's Picks

There were three other calls that were deemed incorrect: there should have been 0.4 seconds left in regulation, and Knicks ball, after Nicolas Batum blocked Jalen Brunson's potential game-tying shot out of bounds (the clock instead ran out, sending the game to overtime); Brunson should've been called for an offensive foul in overtime on the play that ultimately became a flagrant foul on Joel Embiid for hitting Brunson in the head; and Josh Hart was not actually out of bounds with 41.5 seconds to go.

Pack it up, on to the next round.

Too bad Jimmy got hurt, I think it would've been a good series.

Adam Silver had to extend the series, Western conference had too many sweeps.

it was supposed to be here last week!

One of the most horrific traumas I've ever caught was a baby on a lawnmower. I'm sure it's a one in a million thing, but just put the baby in the crib and close their door and move the lawnmower yourself.

oh god I didn't even think about BABY DAMAGE

Every single riding mower will have multiple warnings in the user manual about not letting your kid ride with you. The issue is that modern mowers will cut the blades off if you fall out of the seat, and they usually have brakes to stop the blades pretty quickly. However, if you are in the seat and your kid falls off... Yeah. Just don't do it.
