The next episode of DanDaDan is so much better as a setup than the first was, you really get a feel of the ride you're in for.
And bears repeating: the dub is stellar.
(So's the soundtrack.)
Dubs have improved immensely, in large part thanks to them being taken seriously.
True, but there's also some that are 'fine', that just do the bare minimum, then you occasionally get the Chainsaw Man, Frieren, and Kaguya-sama dubs that know the assignment and go for the moon.
Baccano! will be my gold standard for dubs, because they put the effort in to make the characters sound right.
Edit: But overall, the horrors of cheap 80s dubs is a thing of the past - these days, there is a solid standard that is the floor.

Yeah, even the most meh dubs are still perfectly fine, but if they didn't go above and beyond, I tend to just stick with the JP.
What makes stuff like Kaguya-sama and Danganronpa 3 great is that they don't just translate, they localize it.
The JP Kaguya narrator is this super serious, hyper dramatic speaker straight out of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and so the dub one is the complete opposite, a totally unhinged hyper-kinetic gremlin of insanity, and I can't wait to see how he delivers any given line.
That "OH COME ON!" makes it sound like he genuinely got pissed and left the studio.

That said, Kaguya S3's finale definitely lived up to the season title. A+.
(Wonder if the movies are any good...)

Baccano is one of the few anime that I will only watch dubbed.
I want them brooklyn accents and whatnot.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
So Regulus has a harem. Not sure if this is a condition of his Archbishop power or is he’s just a creep. I think his power was being immune to death or damage, so I can imagine that the harem might serve a purpose like the voodoo doll guy from one piece.
So far we have
Wrath: makes people share emotions and fate
Sloth: takes over the mind of those who have been given a witch bible, has the unseen hands
Regulus/Greed: avoids damage somehow
That on chick from S2: changes the past/causality to avoid damage and cause problems
Gluttony: eats memories. Either the memories of a person from every one else, or that person’s memories
I think I am missing one named archbishop, but I forget which one. And I think we saw a new archbishop in the OP, so we have probably FOUR to deal with this season. Still think that the major mabeast snake is due this season, and I am sure that none of the foreshadowing calling the city a prison will come to bear.
And Priscilla seems way more interesting a character than S1 made it seem.
God the writing in this show is so good. I went from wondering how Emilia and Subaru work as a couple to liking them as one of my favorite anime couples ever. It’s actually written realistically and no using really stupid tropes.
I don't think
Regulus is a harem guy. Strikes me more as a Bluebeard.
My thought is
He views them as property and probably has another use for them. Casting spells, doing a ritual, that sort of thing. His power seemed to be avoiding damage so like I said, he might be using them as batteries for that. Or that's just the power he got from the witch genes and he's using them for something else.
What I am basically saying is there is no way in hell he has that many wives and there isn't a plot payoff for it somehow.
EDIT:
That said I am now extremely about the relationship between Petelgeuse and the Archbishop of Wrath. Because he does not seem the type to share his uh....'love' around like that. He seemed fully devoted to Satella and....did I just answer my own fucking question? JFC
On both:
Regulus might use his wives like Basil Hawkins used his voodoo dolls in One Piece, which you alluded to. Because up until this point the guy has no-sold basically anything and everything that could have affected him.
I imagine Sirius was a hyper stalker for Petelgeuse. He might not have even been aware of her whole deal for him.

A few weeks ago, Manga Plus started a new series called No Gyaru in This Class:
The main girl was a lonely nerd in middle school, so she decides to pretend to be a gyaru at her new high school so she can hopefully make friends. Unfortunately for her, it's a very straight-laced school and she appears to be the only gyaru in the school, and as such is avoided.
However, she does eventually make friends with the delinquent boy in class, who actually isn't a delinquent but is also another lonely nerd trying to reinvent himself for high school. Later on, she also meets a ridiculously strong tomboy who likes ribbons and tried to reinvent herself as a cutesy girl to make friends, but was sadly unaware of the "landmine girl" stereotype and was also avoided.
So far the only person who knows what's going on is their teacher (who actually used to be a delinquent), but we are privy to their thoughts whenever they hang out and try to maintain their facades. The thought bubbles frequently have a drawing of their head from what they looked like in middle school next to them, to represent their true inner selves.
Says she's very strong, so I assume that she inadvertently destroys things a lot. Wouldn't explain the landmine bit though, that more implies someone needs to trigger it.

what is the "landmine girl" stereotype? I'm unfamiliar with that one
It's slightly complex. 地雷女, landmine woman. It's both a derogatory term for a woman who looks really attractive but is mentally unstable/will blow up if you get involved with her. But like kogal stuff, has also been somewhat co-opted into a specific kind of fashion. I'm not sure how to describe it, but something like babydoll goth. Pink top with black skirt and twintails is the very stereotypical example of it. Like so.

I assume DDD is two cour so the main 4 will get together by the end of this run but I want to say that imo only One Piece has done as good a job in introducing new characters and making them feel like they've been there from the start

Current manga spoilers:
The main crew is up to 7, and I expect Umbrella boy will rejoin soon, but somehow the cast doesn't feel overly large at all. I suspect we'll end up with 4 couples.
Demon Lord 2099 is weird. Seems like it's doing like ten different things at once

The One Piece anime is officially going on hiatus until April “to allow animators to recharge”.
But also during that time they’re completely redoing Fishman Island to have closer to Wano level visuals and are going to be airing that? It’s also going to be half the episode count.
How are they allowing the animators to recharge if they're still working...
They let them out of their cages for a whole 4 hours a day!

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
Yeah, that was two months of the series getting forcibly and painfully recontexualized.
Because there's no way Shiguma didn't know about the cancer - he had to have some inkling, given that his voice is his life. Which explains why he put on the performance that he did.
And Issho taking personal interest in Akane is...well, things are going to get interesting, that's for sure.
The tonal whiplash this week pretty dramatic between Akane-Banashi and Witch Watch (that happened to show up next to one another on viz.com) was pretty dramatic. This week Witch Watch is doing haiku, which seems like one of the most difficult things to translate, though it's neat to see which things they translate and which they just give up on -- a couple of weeks ago we had the return of "the gingerbread man who can only communicate by using the names of bread products that sound like Japanese phrases", which seems almost impossible to translate properly because there's not much room for re-naming things, so we get this:
This week, while the haikus themselves got translated, and the second level of jokes in the haikus got translated, the rationale behind the second tier of jokes was too much:
(last week's chapter didn't have translation issues, but it did have Fist of the North Star and Berserk references)
Other things this week:
Spy x Family:
Did Donovan Desmond always have that scar, or are we just paying closer attention to it this chapter than usual?
Hakutaku is walking a narrow line between "the writer knows how gamedev works" (the references to using prebuilt assets last week, etc), and showing the details, but also not showing _too many_ of the details, and I'm not sure that the overall story is benefiting from that, it still feels a bit scattered.
New this week on mangaplus: _Monochrome Days_, which seems potentially interesting so far, is doing a good job of using different art styles at the right times, and the artist is good enough to _draw_ those different styles, which avoids the occasional awkwardness in manga-about-art where the characters see something and say "ooh, that's really great' but we-the-readers don't get the same impression because the artist of the manga isn't as good as the artist _in_ the manga.
Blue Box
ugh, I was hoping it wouldn't do quite such a basic "dumb misunderstanding" plot but it seems like it's definitely going down that path for Kyo's storyline, at least for now, which is a pain

This video of how that scene got localized around the world is hilarious:

Also sometimes they eat ridiculous cartoon meat with chopsticks:
Its a fashion style associated with girls who look cute but are extremely emotionally unstable, akin to stepping on a landmine
It's just an archetype, it has turned into a regular fashion style nowadays.
"Jirai kei" is its name.
https://j-fashion.fandom.com/wiki/Jirai_Kei
Its controversial for numerous reasons in and out of Japan due to the many negative stereotypes.

Not sure how exactly that is a break for the animators but at the very least it might mean the anime can stop slowing things down when it comes back.
