So this was the day Funko made everything shitty for everyone
I don’t really understand what happened. What’s itch?
It's a site that hosts indie games, from the video variety to tabletop, as well as some other types of software from experimental (that barely qualify as games and more as experiences) and even Game Engines. Very freeform and indie. Depending on the creator, they might be free, tip-only and even for-sale.
They've done several bundles over the years for various social causes, where basically hundreds of creators offer their thing to the benefit of the cause in question.

Proving once again that nothing good has come from AI or Funko pops.

I'm the one running itch.io, so here's some more context for you:
From what I can tell, some person made a fan page for an existing Funko Pop video game (Funko Fusion), with links to the official site and screenshots of the game. The BrandShield software is probably instructed to eradicate all "unauthorized" use of their trademark, so they sent reports independently to our host and registrar claiming there was "fraud and phishing" going on, likely to cause escalation instead of doing the expected DMCA/cease-and-desist. Because of this, I honestly think they're the malicious actor in all of this. Their website, if you care: https://www.brandshield.com/
About 5 or 6 days ago, I received these reports on our host (Linode) and from our registrar (iwantmyname). I expressed my disappointment in my responses to both of them but told them I had removed the page and disabled the account. Linode confirmed and closed the case. iwantmyname never responded. This evening, I got a downtime alert, and while debugging, I noticed that the domain status had been set to "serverHold" on iwantmyname's domain panel. We have no other abuse reports from iwantmyname other than this one. I'm assuming no one on their end "closed" the ticket, so it went into an automatic system to disable the domain after some number of days.
I've been trying to get in touch with them via their abuse and support emails, but no response likely due to the time of day, so I decided to "escalate" the issue myself on social media.

This morning I tried a demo for a game called Iron Road, a top-down 2D thing where you connect towns with railways. Because I am giving in to officially entering my Train Game era. It looks and feels a bit like Mini Metro, but much less stressful. I was expecting to try it out for 20 minutes and ended up playing it for 3 hours. It's got that simple-to-start complicated-to-perfect thing which makes it extremely addictive. Definitely going on the ol' wishlist.
If anyone else knows of good train games (more strategy than sim, I don't care about driving trains I just want to tell them where to go) pls send them my way. I'm just gonna lean into this.

I want to play the Indiana game but apparently you need a raytracing-capable GPU and I do not have that. Sad times.

Oh, they didn't use the DMCA? Then there might actually be a legal case, because the courts ruled that there's no such thing as bad faith years ago when someone tried to actually file a lawsuit using the DMCA's bad faith provision.

Indy eating dates.
In Egypt you can eat dates and initially I was sad there was no mention but then in the village you can hear two people talking about dates and about how last year there were rumors in Cairo of dates being bad and killing people but one of them swears he heard it was just a monkey.
Honestly, this game is pretty fun! Its a little clunky and some of the gameplay elements are a bit wonky but overall I'm enjoying it. It's actually kind of slow, and I think that works. I'm sure the action will ramp up a bit as I get further in, but they definitely decided to eschew any real run and gun stuff for a more adventure detective vibe and that really works with Indy.

So far I have broken every stringed instrument I can find over the head of a fascist
They call me
El Kabong
I got an achievement when I smashed a guitar over the head of a fascist, which caused my youngest (who had been very hyped up since we first saw said guitar) to jump up and run from the room to announce it loudly to his mother, which would have gone better if she wasn't in the midst of a work call at 8pm.

I intentionally got into a proper gunfight in Egypt since Nazis tend to have guns. It was pretty hectic and neat. Guns do a lot of damage and bullets are in short supply so you really need to duck and weave and use cover.
Oooh, Talos Principle redo on UE5 coming next year.. Updated visuals, includes the expansion, a new prequel chapter and a level editor. Coming early next year.
Lego Fortnite Brick Life, which launches on December 12, is an open-world social sim in which you and 31 of your closest friends can hang out in Brick Bay, a lively Lego City that's full of activities, jobs, and empty lots you can build on, and Brick Bay will be expanding all the time. For example, December 18 will mark the opening of the Rooftop Club, a fancy social space that provides stunning views of the city from above. The launch of Brick Life happens to coincide with the addition of text chat to every Fortnite experience, which will be key for a social sim like this one.
Said Minecraft-clone is getting renamed 'Lego Fortnite Odyssey' by the way, with an update being added around the same time as Brick Life to add a villain called the Storm King, with players having to go through 'Storm Dungeons' to stop random storms that'll start appearing on the map.

That seems like incredibly bad customer service from the web host too.

Fortnite's adding a new 'game' to the Lego Fortnite side of things for those not into or are getting a little bored with the Minecraft-clone.
