Looking at photos of the exterior of my house and again getting real made that the attic has 20’ clearance and there’s the option to add 600 square feet with 10’ high ceilings or like 900 square with 8’ up there but I don’t have the balls to pull the trigger (or live in a neighborhood with a sufficiently premium price/sq foot to justify it)

It’s so much wasted space goddamn! There’s enough for a whole fucking extra house just in my inaccessible attic! I don’t want the extra space or would have any use, I’m just so mad it’s available….

Why did they build such a goddamn huge and tall roof……..

Only with the third leak did we positively identify that it had to be the diswasher. (The foundation of our 80-year-old house isn't level anymore and the water seems to have gone under the kitchen floor and ran quite far across the concrete slab, going under the fridge and under a wall before pooling under the hall carpet.) I haven't caught it actively leaking, but my wife found the puddle forming yesterday in front of the dishwasher as it began to run towards the hall.

Other than a failing door seal, is there anything else that would explain an intermittent dishwasher leak? As far as I can tell, the leak isn't coming from the plumbing: the intake line and the drain line both seem tight and entirely dry. Given what my wife saw, I do suspect the leak is right up front. The bottom corner of the insulation on the door seemed a bit damp when I was looking at it hours later, which is what makes me fairly confident it's probably a leak around the corner of the door. But I'd like to rule out any other options before ordering a new door seal.

does it have a foam like sealant on the inside? That can deteriorate after 10 years and is usually an easy replacement. after that its other plastics or potentially holes.

The door seal is a good place to start. They can get quite nasty so a cleaning may help. Mine recently leaked from the door seal and I had to clean it and reseat it to get it to stop leaking.

Beyond that, check all of the water/wastewater connections. Any elbows/hoses connecting the main pump to the spray arms should be inspected closely.
The line feeding water into the dishwasher should also be checked as they usually have a rubber gasket in them that can start to leak as it ages.

The model of my dishwasher is infamous for having the spray arm connector elbow from the main pump fail. I had to purchase a new pump to replace the thing as they don’t sell the elbow separately and it is an extremely tight fit.

Based on the revenue baseball brings in does Soto deserve that contract?

    Yes

Does any one human being need anywhere near that much money?

    No

Do I get a little sick to my stomach when I see people getting amounts of money like that?

There's also zoning, I heard anecdotally around here that single family residences are limited to 3 finished levels, which usually means two floors and a basement, without needing additional fire suppression and other compliance requirements designed more for apartment buildings.

I probably have this wrong but it may also be the style of the house. I want to call it Tudor style but I don't know if it's 'a thing'.

It’s got Tudor-inspired trim but the style of this house is firmly “late 70s US bougie” it’s got a little bit of everything- dormer window, faux brick facade, stucco with wood trim to fake the Tudor aesthetic, super tallness, a poorly-designed and leaky skylight, and a giant deck with a hot tub hookup but not structurally and soundly anchored to the house nor ground, all the hits

Westbrook will always be frustrating to have on your team because he is historically one of the worst volume shooters the league has ever seen and he can't resist an open jumpshot at the most inopportune moments. I agree he's been pretty good this year and its irrational for any Denver fans to blame him for the state of the team, but his presence is emblematic of their roster problems. It would be much more ideal for Russ to have a bench unit to cook with while Jokic sits, but their bench is terrible so instead he's spending his best minutes feeding Jokic inside against smaller units.

that's been my only issue with him, terrible shot selection. He dominates at the rim and getting to the basket, but those hero ball 3s he takes (less so now, much more so in OKC after KD left) or forcing up numerous 3s/jumpers (how many of those attempted bank shots have gone awry?). Otherwise, I don't see why someone would dislike him. I think because after OKC he has bounced around a bit he has become a scapegoat. I almost forget he was on the Wizards for a year!

    He also doesn't play defense.

Incorrect! Another instance of an otherwise intelligent person who doesn't pay much attention to Westbrook suspending their brain a tad when he's mentioned unfortunately. It's tough to discuss him with how eager people are to do this stuff, but it is what it is.

Ask Nuggets fans how they feel about that. Ask Mike Malone how he feels about that, because I happen to have this handy video of Mike Malone draping a Defensive Player of the Game chain over Russell Westbrook from their game against the Hawks this weekend.

Here's a quote from Malone after the Nuggets beat the Thunder (clearly there was cheating involved but let's ignore that):
I think defensively he's been a rockstar. And what I love about Russell Westbrook: 17-year vet, leopards don't change their spots, but he is trying so hard to be disciplined. He's trying to do the things we're asking him to do, and I appreciate that so much. Because a lot of times at 17 years in, you are who you are. But he cares, man. He is so invested in this team and what he's bringing to this team, and he's so hard on himself. I can coach a guy like Russell Westbrook any day.

He's hustling his ass off and playing defense night in and night out. Would he let it slip when he was offensive option #1 in other situations? Yeah. But it's an outdated take, and was often exaggerated even at the time.

For their longplays, at least for Danganronpa, they are taking small breaks each time the finish a chapter. I haven’t watched them or followed them too closely (his protagonist voice literally gives me a headache) but I believe they have just finished chapter 3 or 4, at most, and not the full game. They’ll pick back up after a couple weeks or so.

It does make sense, but you have to spot what’s happening behind what you’re being told. Wolfe is a tricksy mfer and half the fun of his books is figuring out who’s lying and why.

I finished Absolution. It's brilliant, and I love it. I think Annihilation will always be my favourite of the series though - I find in a lot of series I prefer the more standalone book 1 than the sequels, I like the novelty of the fresh and exciting new story, rather than the sequels that are always going to have less new ideas.
I love Vandermeer's prose, the book's just so well written. The way scenes blur together, the constant uneasy dread, everything feels slightly wrong, the paranoia, it's great.

My only complaint is that there's so few concrete answers in the book that there isn't much for my brain to latch onto; I can remember the emotion and the feeling of the book but I don't know why someone shot up the silo, or who left the belt buckle for Cass to find. I got the impression that the Rogue was sent back in time but I'm unclear on whether that was presented as fact or as Old Jim's deteriorating mind. I feel like I've been given a dozen pieces from a massive jigsaw puzzle, I can't make anything with them so I'm just enjoying the vibes. Now, the vibes are very good, and it's possible that any concrete answers would diminish the vibes, and so not giving answers made the book better, but I think if you ask me in a year I'll tell you the book was great but I remember nothing about it.

And the best part of the book has to be "I bet you didn't even find the safe hidden under the rug" -> "there wasn't a safe, but I've put one there now" -> "wait, hiding a safe there would be a bunch of work, when did I do that? How did I do that?"
    Poor Old Jim.

Youtube tends to think I want to watch bike trials videos. Which is fair enough, it's not wrong. The thing is, as with any video about people being good at things, they tend to occasionally make it look _too_ easy, and then I'll try and do something and realise "no, it's not easy, it's just that the person in the video is really good". But there's a scale of how to present skills, and just now I wound up on the other end than usual

On one end, the classic example, Danny MacAskill. Red Bull rider, high production values, location shooting, big tricks, possibly a bit gimmicky at this point, but still very impressive stuff:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70NBZV6z_o0

In the middle, Fabio Wibmer, who really does just make everything look easy. A lot of video editing in this one, but still very impressive.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsDpkyNbyBM

And today, it showed me this, which is just a guy doing _insane_ tricks. I don't know I've seen someone use a bike to climb up obstacles as if he was a mountain goat like that before; this is very close to just "doing parkour while holding a bike". And it seems like they just went to the seaside, one of his mates got his phone out and that was how they filmed it.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLd1w0NvWHo

The descent after the cannon jump, or the rail sequence after that, are some of the most "well, I guess it must be possible because he did it" things I've ever seen. And, I mean, I can work out how the physics of it all happened, but his ability to control weight and momentum so precisely is just ridiculous.
